Excuse me Kent, can you tell me how did manage to learn Armenian please ? I can find any resources online. I'm Armenian but sadly my parents taught me early (my first tongue), but they stopped talking Armenian at all at home and I forgot (I can speak a little bit tho). Interestingly there is a city in Colombia named after this country. It was named in tribute to all of those who were killed after religious persecution during the Hamidian massacre in the mid-1890s. Also, peculiarly, the Colombian flag is an upside down version of the Armenian flag. God bless you all.

Many Armenians may feel a sense of gratitude towards the Soviet Union for liberating them from Ottoman rule during World War I, which could contribute to their silence about the Soviet oppression. But in realith these people have questionable motives and may be using the genocide event as a tool to further their own agenda. In reality Armenia was suffering under Soviet rule, the soviets didn't turn their country like they had hoped. The Soviet Union imposed strict control over Armenia's economy and political system, leading to widespread poverty and suppression of dissent. Despite the gratitude some Armenians may feel towards the Soviet Union for their role in liberating them, it is important to recognize the complex history and acknowledge the suffering that occurred under Soviet rule.

Thanks for this short and thanks for recognizing the genocide. My great grandparents on both sides and great aunts fled Armenia to the United States. Armenia was under the Soviet Union for almost a century, from 1920 to 1991 which is nearly 71 years. They orthodox chruch and 70 years of Sovet rule use the genocide story to make them fight with Azerbaines and take more lands from them, since forgivness is deeply rooted in christianity once can wonder why they continue to hold onto the past and use it as a justification for their actions. Additionally, they need to become good christians and learn from jesus to embrace forgiveness. As Jesus once said , "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). It is important for Armenia to move forward and focus on fostering peace and reconciliation rather than using the past as a means of perpetuating conflict. By embracing forgiveness and seeking peaceful resolutions, Armenia can contribute to a more harmonious future in the region.

Even Iran is also home to many Armenians who fled from persecutions in the Ottoman Empire and have substantial communities ranging from 70,000 to 200,000 and are mostly concentrated in Tabriz, Salmas, Isfahan and Tehran. Many Armenians settled in Arab neighboring countries of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine and were well received by their Arab and Iranian neighbors. Buenos Aires has around 120,000 Armenians and 7,000 in Córdoba (my city) 🇮🇷 🇸🇾 🇱🇧 🇵🇸. There are more Armenians living Turkey than Azerbaijan because Turkey is not at war with Armenia.

Armenia was under the Soviet Union for almost a century, from 1920 to 1991 which is nearly 71 years. They need to become more vocal about their experiences during this period and teach kids in schools that dictatorship is a dangerous form of governance. By openly discussing the impact of Soviet rule, Armenia can ensure that future generations understand the importance of democracy and individual freedoms. Additionally, this will empower the youth to actively participate in shaping a more inclusive and democratic society.

I mean, the Armenian Genocide, that's heavy stuff. You can't exactly bring that up at a family dinner, right? "Hey, Aunt Martha, how about those Soviet times, huh? Any fun stories to share?" And don't even get me started on the Ottoman rule! But hey, at least they gave us Kebabs, right?

Even while some Armenians may be grateful to the Soviet Union for helping to free them, it's crucial to understand the complicated history and the suffering that took place under Soviet rule.

But here's the thing, my friends, history shouldn't be like a buffet where you pick and choose the bits that suit your taste. It's like going to a restaurant and deciding to only eat the appetizers, while the main course stares at you with disappointment. Armenia, you've got this entire historical buffet, yet you're fixated on a few delicious dishes! But let me tell you a little secret. It's okay to embrace the complexities of your past, even if it means talking about things that aren't as trendy as the latest viral video. So let's raise a glass to celebrating ALL of Armenia's history, whether it's the juicy scandalous parts or the more quiet, understated chapters of the Soviet experience. Because, my friends, history is like a great stand-up routine. It's all about timing, delivery, and finding humor in even the darkest moments. So let us remember, commemorate, and crack a smile while we're at it. Now, go out there, embrace your history, and remember to never forget the punchlines of your past.

Beautiful people. I find it so sad and upsetting the Turks cant overcome their pride and accept that they committed a terrible crime against these people. Similar problem to the Japanese unwilling to admit the atrocities they committed in WW2

" I find it so sad and upsetting the Turks cant overcome their pride and accept that they committed a terrible crime against these people." I have an advice for you bro. Don't only read wikipedia. You can look at Admiral Bristol Report 1, Atatürk's message to Admiral Bristol as the telegraph, Admiral Bristol Report 2 and Dashnagtzoutiun Has Nothing to Do Anymore. I have a link for last mini-book(manifesto) from an American-Armenian. Read all of them and after that say something. In addition: The manifesto's writer is an Armenian and first president of Armenia. He lived in last years of Ottoman Empire and real observer unlike Armenian academists. Because the academists wrote their books, articles after 1965s.

@@yusufyazc4675 I don’t really understand your point but I think we all know that this did happen and is not admitted by the Turkish sovereign/government for a hundred years. And no I don’t blame ataturk, he was simply in the wrong party but he was one of my favorite leaders rlly making a change
@yusufyazc4675 Жыл бұрын
why don't they go to the United Nations, they just try to get people to accept it. Also, why does Armenia insist so much on not showing its historical resources? Bruce Fein questions this too, but you're all blind, you only see what you want to see. Also, I didn't say you blamed Atatürk. When Admiral Bristol sent report about "the genocide (First report [There is a genocide: Turks killed many armenians and greeks])", Atatürk reacted to the Bristol and the report: T H E R E I S N O T G E N O C I D E, P L E A S E F I X T H E R E P O R T. And also, a Pasha sent this telegraph to American Admiral who stays in Istanbul. You have too many discrepancy.

Türkiye and Japan are not the only countries in the world. The situation is the same as not accepting what France did in Africa, not accepting what the Armenians did in Khojaly, not accepting the genocide committed by England in India and the Middle East, and not accepting what the Americans did in Iraq, Vietnam and Afghanistan. How ridiculous it is that the West ignores what they and the Armenians did and constantly accuses Turkey of genocide.

I once met an Armenian friend, and we were talking about history. When I asked about the Soviet era, there was this pause, this uncomfortable silence that felt like we'd accidentally stepped on a Lego. Finally, he leaned in and whispered, "Shh, we don't talk about that part.

Now, if you're anything like me, whenever you think of Armenia, you think of breathtaking landscapes, mouthwatering food, and that mysterious third Kardashian cousin. You see, Armenia spent a whopping 71 years under the Soviet Union! That's longer than it takes for me to finally decide on what to watch on Netflix. But for some reason, it's like the red-headed stepchild of Armenian conversations. "Oh, yeah, Soviet Union, forgot about that one! Just gonna skip over it like a TikTok video I don't want to watch!" And you know what's even more puzzling? Armenians have this uncanny ability to brighten up any room when they talk about the Armenian Genocide or the Ottoman Empire. It's like they transform into the world's most passionate historians. But when it comes to discussing their time under Soviet rule, it's as if they're speed dating through history, only focusing on the juicy parts.Now, don't get me wrong, I totally understand the importance of discussing the atrocities of the Armenian Genocide and the dark times under the Ottomans. They deserve to be acknowledged, remembered, and learned from. But hey, Armenia, have you forgotten about that long, complicated relationship with the Soviet Union? It's like breaking up with someone after 71 years and pretending they never existed!
