According to Vedanta consciousness is like the space in a pot. The pot is like the body. As long as the space within (the pot) is associated with the pot it is necessarily in a kind of darkness or shadow, a shadow world in fact. With effort (spiritual labour) consciousness can look up and see something of the light outside the pot and can permanently dwell closer to it - and this reminds us of Plato's parable of the cave. But it is only on destruction of the pot (ie death) that final liberation (of consciousness) occurs. At this point the space inside the pot, formerly in permanent darkness and shadow - becomes reunited with the space outside the pot and spontaneously becomes aware of its natural limitlessness and light. And yet nothing has fundamentally changed viz the intrinsic nature of that space/consciousness.

Steiner went on to write a book "Knowledge of Higher Worlds" or "How to Know Higher Worlds" that can act as a guide to someone who wishes to go on this path without a master.

As this video correctly explains, a chela or disciple is a rare commodity. How many prodigy or concert violinists and pianists are there who can perform as soloists in front of a world class symphonic orchestra? How did they reach that level of proficiency, and who were the teachers that guided their development? Those teachers, are, and were, seeking students at the highest level of competency and innate ability. Their abilities as teachers could also easily help the budding musician, but their time and efforts are reserved for the most promising. Anything else would be a waste of the master teacher's own genius and contribution to the art. The amount of written and public knowledge about the spiritual path is readily available to any inquiry of a sincere student. The unrealistic idea that by taking the first steps (and they are many) on the Path will immediately put you in a personal contact with one of the great Teachers or Gurus, is to have false expectations and illusory dreams. You may go along your whole life and never experience that clearly delineated and profound contact with a Master, but the effort is never wasted and contributes to a life well lived. The Masters do not seek personal or personality contact with their students. That is a needy expectation of lay chelas who are still immersed in their own vanity and personal glamour. You can hope, you can dream, but the Master will only meet you a long way down the road, and much further than your anxious and hasty heart would care to admit.

As long as the aspiring student is sincere in their efforts to learn, practice, and understand, the ascended mastery training, they can meet a master. It took me 3 to 4 months to meet Saint Germain for the first time. It was a truly amazing and humbling experience. If I was not actively involved in learning and mastering the teachings of his books, it most likely would not have happened. It comes down to the students' efforts and level of sincerity. Once the student decides to take the path, they are put on the master radar, and that is when the trial begins. How strong of a desire do you have of being a master? They will know based on your efforts. It is that simple but also beautifully profound.

Rudolf Steiner reveals the secrets here. In essence, the purest possible body was needed for the Christ to live in the flesh. The bodies of the highest past initiates (chelas) were combined and used - including Zarathustra, Gautama and Moses. As such he was born as fully able to see the spiritual worlds, which is what allowed Jesus to teach in the temple even as a boy. Put another way there was no need for him to develop it in the current life as it was developed in a prior life. This can be seen in discussion with Peter when the Christ says "Who do you think I am?" and Peter responds "Some say you are Elijah" - I am paraphrasing. Matthew 16:13-20. Another important distinction is that while Jesus was a spiritual teacher the Christ being did not come to teach, but rather to alter through deed the evolutionary path of the Earth and those who inhabit it, Mankind.

Sigh... Just when i thought it was something worthwhile.... The beliefs flood in. Things that sound to good to be true generally are. the spirit not the flesh. No creator needs to come say things good men live by without words or that books influence. Just because you dont believe that book doesn't mean you dont live the life many talk about.
