I'm really surprised that you didn't mention Robin/Dick Grayson at all... He was quintessential to comic books because he was both the original sidekick and the original child super hero. He basically created those trends and paved the way to many more sidekick/child heroes, many of them becoming iconic on their own rights. He's also one of the most prominent examples of hero legacy. Comic book history owes a lot to him, definitely should be up there with those 5.

I would like to add Wolverine as an honorable mention. My reasons other than his popularity are that he was highly influential in giving healing abilities to superheroes and he was among the first if not THE first superhero that was known to kill. Even though they kept it off screen, I still remember the X-Men comic where Wolverine stealth kills a guard with Storm and Nightcrawler gasping in shock. At that time, superheroes weren't known to ever kill their enemies which I think paved the way for a lot of anti-heroes we know today.

Barry Allen reinvigorated Superheroes. After WW2, comic books slowed down, but the debut of Barry in Showcase #4 literally created the silver age. With him, superheroes began to be rooted more in science and Flash of Two Worlds was the introduction of the multiverse to superhero comics. He also had one of the most profound deaths in comics with Crisis on Infinite Earths.

For me personally these are the biggest influence's: *Superman* - The first and Biggest influence to a hero in fiction, the literal godfather, blueprint and standard of fictional protagonists even outside of Superheroes and the symbol of hope. *Captain America*- The uncle of heroes and an OG war veteran of Superheroes who represents perseverance, discipline and morality, the standard for leaders of Superhero teams and the symbol of the best of America. *Hulk* - Biggest influence to all powerhouses of fiction, the trump card, the big brute of heroes, the measuring stick of super strength, the brute that every powerhouse has to defeat to prove their might. *Batman* - The genius and mastermind above all heroes, the literal embodiment of vengeance and justice and the father of dark themed Superheroes. *Spider-Man* - Everyone's favourite kid and arguably the most loved and the most relatable kid of Superheroes the standard for teenage Superheroes in fiction, the embodiment of responsibility. *Wonder Woman* - The ultimate mother of Superheroes and The mother to all mythological heroes in comics who represents the best of femininity and inspires all females to be strong. *Flash* - The fastest being in fiction and the original speedster that every speed character gets their design from. P.S: *In my opinion out of all these heroes Hulk's influence on Heroes with super strength is the most underrated and ignored and I blame Universal and the MCU for poor portrayals of his power leading to him being ignored he is the literal blueprint and every superhero team must have a muscular hulking brute and he is the father.*

This may be a cheat, but I’m going to say as a whole, the X-Men. A book that was about to be canceled on its original run, but has gone on to become one of the greatest books and characters of all time. No matter when it is written, or by whom, it is always a reflection of the times upon which it was written. The overall themes of bigotry and hating of “the other” remain, but the specific biases and problems of modern society are constantly evolving, and are always touched upon. A book that is able to constantly evolve into the future.

When I met John Stewart, it ignited something on the inside then I met Black Panther & I was officially obsessed. I love this Channel. IMO it’s my hometown guy made in Cleveland Superman which many don’t know he came from Cleveland, then Batman, then Wolverine, then Captain America, then Iron Man, then Spiderman etc. BTW if you ever visit Cleveland find the Superman statue in the Airport and it has a huge wall of history around it and 2 TVs playing classic Superman moments. 100% agree with this list. They were literally the first superheroes I heard about or read when I was a kid. One hero not mentioned here that I felt belonged is the Punisher who represents what many of us think, but don't want to say. He was the first anti-hero I was introduced to. Before him, heroes were gentle, never killed (intentionally anyway), and always has a lesson to teach. Frank Castle was so different and his skull symbol is used everywhere specially in the world's militaries.

This is just an idea I want to put out there but perhaps in the last decade or so, Iron Man may be on a list of important or influential characters. Maybe not so much as far as comics are concerned but certainly on the movie side and in the way that the public views superheroes now. I don’t think Tony trumps any of these characters but I think his impact on movies may be something to consider.

Yup I wholeheartedly agree with this list. You just cannot deny these are the greatest. I do think that both the X-men and Iron Man have contributed equally though. The X-men brought the identity of being born different into comics for people to identify with. And honestly you have to give credit to Iron Man simply due to the massive popularity he has had in the comic movie genre. That character single-handedly made comic movies mainstream on a whole other level. People who never even picked up a comic book before became fans of the characters. Much of that can be attributed to RDJ of course and his incredible portrait. Even Christopher Nolan said that casting is the greatest of all time. I might be a little biased because I grew up reading comics in the 80s when Iron Man was really good and written really well. I still love the issue where he fought Hulk and used up all his power in one single punch knocking Hulk out, but it fried his armor. That was so epic to read as a kid.

Hulk needed to be on the list. He was the first anti hero technically. In addition, he was the raw embodiment of what most kids and fans of comics felt like deep down. Sure, Superman represent what you should be, Batman represented the perfection as a man we could all strive to be, Spiderman represented being relatable because he was a teen. But Hulk is what you feel like when everything sucks and nothing is going your way and you just want to get your voice across. Hulk Smash!!!! We have all felt that way at some point or another. And similar to Superman being a symbol to always rise to the occasion of what the story needs, Hulk is the same but with his strength and anger (which is why is powers is a plot device just as much as Superman was as a character). Hulk represents if you are anger and fed up enough, there is nothing you cant do, nothing can stand in your way. Hulk is our metephorical release.

Another great video, but a couple of corrections need to be inserted (I don't know if KZbin has a "messenger" feature, but if it did, I would send this over privately). 1) Captain America Comics #1, the issue with Cap punching Hitler, debuted in March of 1941. The U.S. entered the war several months later after Pearl Harbor in December. I believe it was stated in the video that America had been at war for a year already when Captain America debuted, but the U.S. was not yet officially at war with Germany yet. 2) It was stated that Wonder Woman came out four years before women were allowed to vote. This is definitely not true, as women's suffrage was achieved more than 20 years earlier.

The definitive mythology superhero Hulk- The first lonely superhero, one of marvels first releatable heroes, the first true monster hero. The embodiment of science esc heroes and The embodiment and staple of strength and strong superheroes. Robin- The first sidekick, the definitive sidekick, the first teenage superhero/sidekick. Hes the only thing that comes to your mind when you think of sidekick. Flash- The definitive fast superhero, the staple of speed in the superhero genre, the staple of science experiment superheroes abilities. The fourth most iconic rogues gallery in fiction. Is "the most influential" the same thing as "the Most Important"? Was Frankenstein's creation a Superhero? Did he effect comic books (before he was an actual character in some. As you mentioned, what about pulp and radio characters: The Shadow, Doc Savage, The Avenger, Zorro, The Phantom, Conan, Flash Gordon, Buck Rodgers, or Tarzan? Pretty straight forward with who most wouldve chosen. The 6th in my opinion would be The Hulk. But those 5 are clearly the right choices.

Truly perfect list. I'd throw in The Flash at the Number 6 spot. When people think of a superhero (or, heck, jus a character in general!) with super speed, 9/10 they will think of the Flash. He's *the* speedster in fiction. The Flash has such a dominant hold over particular superpower that continues to this day.

Superman and Spider-Man. Superman gave birth to the genre by being the first widely successful superhero property. Without this one character, the modern superhero might not exist. While Superman kickstarted the genre, 25 years later along came Spider-Man to show there was a huge demand for characters with pathos. So Spider-Man gave the genre texture and complex characterizations. In short, Superman got the meat on the grill, Spider-Man did the seasoning and the fans got to eat well.
