It's good to see people discover Periphery and not complain about Spencer. He is a very talented singer and can do it all. You have a long journey and a lot of material from these guys to check out. They own their own record label so they do what they want. Have fun!

I was thinking the same thing. To be fair The first album was rough I revisited it and he’s out of tune a whole bunch and if he’s technically not, he picked some pretty pitchy thin notes on spots. I’m in no way dissing the man I cannot hold a single note. But when I bring people especially deathcore dudes to check them out I pick four lights to get them baited and then hook them with erised. It just sucks because he’s very very talented and Matt although joking always says he mutes the whiny vocals when he plays at clinics 😅 it planted the seed for even i and it took me a few years to warm up to the singing. He’s definitely figured out how to sing with them by p2. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to just pull those Melodie’s out with no one to really reference. It must have been a motherf*ucker to cope with.

The metalheads who only like one or two subgenres are their own thing. No hate, we all have our preferences. What gets my goat is when they exit their lane and have the gall to be elitist. I acquired my taste for death, black, and hardcore stuff gradually, and I thank the Nu/progressive scene for helping in that expansion.

the reason it's nostalgic is probably because they inspired the bands you listened to since 2011 :D (Started djent) From the tops of fast-paced power-metal mountains to back-alley gore-core, they all know these guys. a true inspirational plague of legendary proportions in the music world. haha preachy i know.

If you're in it for musical talent, I strongly recommend checking out The Dear Hunter. Some of the older stuff has dirty vocals mixed in as well but the musical flow, creativity and raw fucking talent is almost unparalleled.

These guys have been one of my favorite bands for the past 10 years! Hope you check out their other stuff too, they have a lot of variety and every album is a banger. I don't know about actual terminology for the "scary notes" but what you are hearing is inharmonic dissonance. I've always loved when a band implements it well. Periphery......does everything well. Band is super underrated but one of the most creative bands out there right now imo. I absolutlely love their style and talent. With this song, compared to some of their others, feels like it was a "we're going to do everything we want that we don't normally get to" song.

I ask myself that same question. Even with the air I breathe I think it's because I never used shuffle or radio apps like pandora? I still to this day maybe CDs because my car doesn't have Bluetooth.

They're a band without a single bad song, only one mediocre song, and that's Crush, but plenty of excellent songs, and I would argue 3 perfect albums, with P2, and considering Juggernaut Alpha and Omega 2 different albums.
