@@UncleNahshonthat's unfortunate because artist and music was so much better in the 70's and 80's. I saw The Jones Girls in concert and was amazed at there harmonies. No other girl group can match these women trust me. They sound so angelic in person I actually cried and I never cry. It was so spiritual and entertaining at the same time. Brenda and Valerie Jones are no longer living unfortunately. The lead Shirley still tours but it's not the same without the other sisters.

I think a lot people didn't know it was a remake because it wasn't a hit for The Jones Girls but it did get airplay on quiet storm radio. They were known for their songs, 'You're Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else', 'I Just Love The Man' and 'Nights Over Egypt'. Actually, when "The Jones Girls' toured back in the day they didn't really include the song in their shows. It was until Xscape covered it in 1995 and had a huge hit is when they focused on the song more. I mean, that with no shade. It was a big hit for Xscape but people should've known it was a remake it anyway cause it had an old school feel to it. Plus, a lot of singers in the 90s were covering 70s soul songs at the time.

@@PrettyNicky50 According to sister Shirley they had been singing together since grade school in church and at talent shows and other events in the community. Fast forward to after they became popular by the mid 80's they had grown weary working together plus Valerie went back to school and Brenda left to start a family. Also Brenda wanted to sing lead sometimes but management thought Shirley was better suited for the lead. That didn't sit well with Brenda either and I forget which one started drinking it was either Brenda or Valerie. Around 86 Shirley the lead went solo and had a few hits. Sometime after that the group got back together but it wasn't as prosperous in the 90's because hip hop and new jack swing had become popular by then. Since the 90's Brenda and Valerie have departed this life. I'm still grieving because I was a huge fan. I saw them live in the 80's and they were awesome. For me they are the best girl group ever. Live they're harmonies sound angelic and pure. It was very moving hearing them live. They sang with such emotion and you really felt it. Shirley tours now with relatives singing back up but they can't compare to the sisters. No other girl group could compare.

Black people's music was revered around the world ! So many power songs are in this history. With artists that had decades of a music careers ! Every now and then a good r&b song will come outta nowhere. Nothing will ever take it's place !

I'm 66 I grew up with the Jones girls..my kids 47 42 37 and 35 don't know the Jones girls. I love Children of the night but my husband only know the Stylistics. The Scott girls did good. Maybe Kandi and Tiny writing all those songs should have sung their music.

@@doseofdennis_ I like Xscape version better too but I enjoy watching the Jones Girls performance better because I can see the original emotion that inspired the song. However, let me also add that NO ONE, I mean no one can touch Nights Over Egypt by the Jones Girls, THAT song is their signature sound and my absolute favorite song!
