The ages of the 4 GMs remaining in the playoffs are 58-65. Shanahan brought in 32 year old Dubas 5 years ago with no substantial background for such a big job. Shanahan didn't want any seasoned GM to outshine him like a Lou L would. Shanahan has to go.
@nadia0701 Жыл бұрын
Kyle ushered in a modern way of doing things. His contributions to the organization from analytics, to health science to capology were instrumental. The team is no longer a group of kids who need a soft touch. We need someone to take us to the next level. Kyle had a contract in hand. I would have liked to see what he would have done next. He played chicken with MLSE and overplayed his hand.

@@nadia0701 There is nothing new about the Dubas era. Leafs lost again.
@jonfreeman9682 Жыл бұрын
That's true. But Shanahan wanted to take a chance on Kyle as remember when Moneyball came out talking about how amazing analytics was for baseball and every team copied Billy Beane. So the same thing was happening in hockey and Kyle was a young guy who loves to manage by computers and numbers and Shanahan bought into it. Truth be told it worked. Leafs broke thru first round and racked up most wins in regular season history. But there's some intangible element preventing them from going further.

I don't know why any team would hire Kyle Dubas. He's demonstrated that he can't manage a salary cap which meant he couldn't construct a balanced and dynamic team that would thrive in the post season. His blundering through contract negotiations further demonstrates his inability to accurately assess a situation and respond with a winning approach.

No matter what the organization, general managers have 5yrs, once they bring in their coach and players, to make a positive difference. If that managers team doesn't get deep into the playoffs and challenge for the Stanley Cup within those 5 yrs, then they are done. First goes the manager. The new manager comes in and fires the old coach and brings in his coaching staff. The cycle is repeated.

Honestly if they can't get Tulsky in time and now I think Dubas is probably on his way to the Pittsburgh GM job, I would take a flyer on John Chayka. Similar in age to Dubas at 33 yrs old, he isn't tied to the Core4 so he could try some of them if he needs to, and Chayka is an analytical guru like Dubas and even founded his own stat website along with his sister. He would most likely follow the Dubas like mold but he would be more willing to make changes. In Arizona, he was not given enough resources to build a good team, and he built one that got the Coyotes into the playoffs. Now imagine what he can do with the resources that Toronto has? I would like to see that happen I don't need an old fart of a GM coming in and destroying what was once built because I don't believe this team needs a rebuild but they do need a different flavor of game than what we are used to seeing

Drafting players that never make the show based on "truculence" and continuing to trade picks for guys that don't move the needle like Boyle and Plekanec. Nikita Zaitsev would likely still be around on his deal that Lou signed him to. It's hilarious that anyone is suggesting Lou would've done a better job. You know as well being a gifted player what is needed and When you're GM and coach after yrs and yrs still can't figure it out. The GM trades for players that are never going to stay and never are the trade that is needed for the line that is not able to make it work since they lost the one to another team, and basically no one has a clue that is why they are not producing so Why am I going to sacrifice my self with l playing the game as the leader for hits and fight now and have to dump the puck in and physically take a beating knowing that I am not getting it and then have to go all the way back defensively because I am trapped inside their end trying to get the puck
@kellymaxwell3179 Жыл бұрын
But after incident regarding him talking to the media about , how happy he was with the goaltending of Campbell, marasek while he already had him going on waivers and was talking to flurry and was trading Campbell. . that's when the Leafs turned into mentally fragile little boys that don't trust their father. and every time the trade deadline comes it's like a tramuatic experience yr after yr, . You can't expect young men to mature and believe in each other like a family which shows up in playoff hockey, just how much you are willing to sacrifice as a team . That's plays on lines that are together for long enough to know how they see the game and know how to find their ice. THAT' starts with your GM, He's the one that wants you on his team it's like your dad, and he knows what part of the puzzle you fit perfectly. With you just playing your game.. eventually he will provide you with a good coach, that is like your favorite teacher, that could bring out the best of you.. . Especially the ones that are so gifted and are having fun.
@kellymaxwell3179 Жыл бұрын
Kyle Dubas is the reason for the Leafs having a fragile mentally fragile fragile players that should have been matured man by now playing as a family as a team with results in believing in each other then produces sacrifice
