Surprise! Here is the next part of the series: E6 Battle!
Y'all have been requesting a lot, so I think it'd be cool to do it! I think this is a very interesting part because some notes here are the singers' iconic notes.
Although it kills me that Mariah and Bey are both not in the video because they haven't done any E6 live in this register. But I hope you enjoyed the other singers here!
20 Vocalists - Who was your favorite?
1.Ally Brooke
2.Amy Lee
3.Ariana Grande
4.Christina Aguilera
5.Jessica Simpson

@Noah Smith Falsetto is a complete flip in muscle usage. Head voice still requires some connection to M1, but falsetto doesn't utilise any of M1 at all. Falsetto is purely length.
@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013
@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 3 жыл бұрын
@Noah Smith I'm literally subscribed to Hannah Bayles. There's really no need to get so defensive. No vocal coach is stupid. Your voice has 77 different muscles that help produce sound, there is no one correct way to produce a sound, and the way you enter registers, or what's even classified as a register to begin with, changes depending on genre. Hannah Bayles, Though her information is fairly accurate for women- Her information does not work for men. What she understands about the voice is what she herself has been trained by. I remember she once said that a Baritone's first passage is G#4- I, as a baritone, can tell you that I mix as early as Bb3. G#4 is my *second* passage, And if you ask tenors when they mix, they say it's around Eb4 when they start mixing. As for Chris- He uses pressed phonation as a comparison to falsetto. When he lightens up on chest voice, his voice wavers and bounces- That's a sign of improper vocal coordination, not a change in register or volume. His vocal folds when he was in a 'light' chest voice were not coming together. You can be breathy in chest voice- Yes, but you do that by either becoming quieter or pushing out more air. Falsetto is thinner than head voice is, Both tonally and literally. Head, mixed and chest are a combination of both M1 and M2. All three of them require a combination of thickness and length. Falsetto does not thicken, and because of that, it's classified as a true flip and a different register. The way you're approaching it has too many holes in it when it comes to different techniques. What is the difference between head voice, full voice and re-enforced falsetto? Why is re-enforced falsetto called a falsetto when it's not airy? Why do re-enforced falsetto and full voice sound tonally different if falsetto and head voice are the same thing? Why does a male head voice and falsetto sound fundamentally different? What even causes differences in volume in the first place? Why is it that Ariana sings in Falsetto, But Sohyang sings in head voice if they're both singing in M2 at the same volume? Why does vocal pedagogy define falsetto as a different register to head voice? Why do men notice a proper distinction between head voice and falsetto if they're the same thing? Why do men have a noticable voice crack between falsetto and head voice? There are too many distinctions between head voice and falsetto for them to be the same register. If they were the same, you would be able to connect Falsetto to head voice and the rest of the range just as easily as you could head voice- Yet it's one of the most vocally difficult things you can do. Differences in volume and air do not cause vocal cracks, they do not cause a disconnection from the other registers, and they definitely don't cause gender-specific tonal differences. The only thing that causes any of those differences are switches in registers. So how is it that you can have a voice crack when switches from head voice into falsetto when head voice and falsetto are the same thing? Please eggsplain.

@Noah Smith Once again; There are two actions in the voice, Lengthening on thickening. Vocal fry = No length, only thickness. Chest voice = Not much length, a lot of thickness Mixed voice = Balanced lengthening and thickening Head voice = Prodiminantly length with little thickness Falsetto = Purely length with no thickness. There, I said it as basically as I could. If you don't get it past that point, I genuinely have no idea how exactly to explain it simpler. Edit; Accidentally posted too soon, whoops.
@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013
@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 3 жыл бұрын
@Noah Smith I mean, They do in some cases, Obviously. Sohyang is a queen of dynamics, She likes being both loud and quiet. But that's the difference between the two registers. Falsetto uses less vocal mass than Head voice does. It's quieter because it's placed borderline purely in the CT muscles. Head voice still has a connection to TA muscles, falsetto doesn't have that connection which causes it to behave differently when it comes to co-ordinating that register. There's confusion in the contemporary part of the music industry that shows head voice and falsetto to be the same thing. But that's not true- If you listen to a classically trained man use head voice in comparison to falsetto, they sound completely different, because they stop using their TA muscles when using falsetto. It's also why some people use predominantly falsetto instead of head voice. It's because they can't push falsetto to be louder because falsetto is purely CT, but they can't enter head voice to go louder because they don't have access to that register.

Hate it when people say vibrato as like if it were a plus. Once you learn it it’s just natural and easy to do (sometimes easier in the highs)
@symonejordan5887
@symonejordan5887 4 жыл бұрын
byChimuelo vibrato is natural however some people have a much tighter where their voices are a lot “shakier” and voice teacher will work to correct that. On higher notes upper 5th middle 6th octave notes those are extremes and vibrato is present most when the voice is relaxed. So for a singer to have vibrato up there is a big statement. That’s why you’ll hear some say oh my word there was an A flat in the 5th and the vibrato touched B flat. It’s all about how you look at it

Jesus Christ......E6 is my highest. Just matched with them to make sure it was an E6. Took a year and 3 to 5 hours for 5 days a week practicing. My full range is C2-E6 and I had to work really hard for that range in both directions. Influences for learning to do it.....Mostly Matt Bellamy from MUSE, Mariah Carey, Freddie Mercury, Opera singers (lots of those) and Peter Steele from type O Negative (for the depth) So I just working in both directions over just focusing on one end. I just figured it made sense that if you can stretch for higher notes increasing the range, you could probably loosen those chords enough by looking down SLIGHTLY to get to a depth. I was kind of right in that it only gains 2 extra low notes (I was at D2 so I only gained C#2 and C2). Not sure if it was worth it but my full range is usable and controlled and supported, (still have to learn all the other stuff, you can sing badly in tune/key)....So big thanks to Opera singers and rock singers who sing in a similar style to Opera singers, thats the only way I got that range and mostly girls singers once I was past the A5 and you can very clearly hear what a girl is doing vocally when its that high because it cuts through all the music. But yeah an A6 is insane and that person had to work for that.

Compared to Mia’s, her falsetto was a lot warmer and less shrill (not shrill at all, actually). It also sounded very open and relaxed (though still unsupported), which was not the case for most of these singers (including Nicole, Olivia, and even Vanessa who all used Head voice). Please take note of the fact that Miley was 15 YEARS OLD and she is up against these singers, all of whom are full-grown adult women and her voice hadn’t even finished maturing yet.

In my opinion Olivia Newton had the best head voice, a clear voice, and She has an amazing control of the air :)
@IBGECKO

Agreed. She was the only one that hit that note within the context of the song, rather than just showing off her range. She is a vocal interpreter. Her vocals serves the song, rather than using the song to serve her vocals.

I listened to the video with a pitch analyser app open. Most of them hit the note for like a millisecond, some didn't even get to E6. Based on it I'd say Solange was the one who held it the longest so my vote goes to her. I don't have any idea who she is though.

The brief recording of Olivia Newton-John is MUCH later in her career than the others in this video. For a better example, I'd suggest "The Right Moment" from 1985.

@@IBGECKO I'd forgotten about that, but I love the Totally Hot album. The first time I played "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting," I knew I'd never heard anything like that before.

What if you're Baritone who's lowest note is E2 (G#1 vocal fry) and can belt up to A4 and highest headvoice is E6 (F6 in good condition), what would be you're vocal/octave range in total? Anyone.

Nicole Scherzinger. She sang an E6 while still sustainting a strong vibrato which is an insanely hard thing to do and most of the other singers did not sustain a vibrato like she did.

I don't know why people praise Nicole's E6??? It's beautiful, yes ! It has the best tenique, Noooo! That E6 is strained, shrill and thin . Her head voice lost support from Bb5, she received classical training, but it doesn't equal she's gonna have support in the 6th octave. Meanwhile, Sohyang and Lisa have the best E6 but nobody complimented ??
