Come Follow Me - Rusty and Jason take a look at the infamous antichrist, Korihor, and the arguments (and sign) Alma uses to correct his errors. We also examine how Alma and company reach out to the depraved Zoramites.
* Why does anti-Christ doctrine lead to sin? (Alm 30v13-18)
* Is Alma’s counter-atheist argument compelling? (Alm 30v40-42;44)
* Why is sign-seeking so evil? (Alm 30v43)
* Was it fair for Korihor to be struck dumb? (Alm 30v52-53)
* How did Korihor’s experience help others? (Alm 30v57-58)
* Should others’ sins make you sick? (Alm 31v1)
* Why is the Word so powerful? (Alm 31v5)
* How did the Zoramites become so wicked, so quickly? (Alm 31v9-11)
* What can the devil do to your thoughts when you are lax? (Alm 31v15-18)
* When a soul is lost, does it lose its value? (Alm 31v35)
About Jason:
Jason started investigating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seriously when he was still in High School and was baptized when he turned 18. He grew up a devout Jew and still embraces his heritage while combining it with his deep love of the restored gospel.

About Rusty:
Rusty joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was still in high school at the age of 15. He was baptized Presbyterian as a baby and had considered himself an atheist by the time he was a teenager. When he felt the Lord’s call to His Church, he jumped in with both feet.

Im dealing with my teenaged daughter taking a distinct atheist path. She is arguing everyday during scripture study and at other times. Right now her stance is that IF God does exist, He's awful because He allows injustice and pain. We're working hard to lead our discussions with the Spirit and with Love, but I keep coming back to your videos to hear how you both interpret the scriptures based on your past experiences and present testimonies. Thank you for your content.❤

Michelle- I just got back from Trek being a ma and pa with my stake and am seeing your comment now. If you think it would be helpful and she would be willing, I'd be more than happy to have a conversation with her. Her concern is one that people have been struggling with for a LONG time and it is called "theodicy" (explanation of why a perfectly good, almighty, and all-knowing God permits evil.) It is my personal opinion that the revelations that came through the restoration offer the ONLY satisfying answers to this concern. This is because we now have a much more detailed picture of the pre-mortal existence, rebellion, war, and - vital to this particular point - AGENCY. A god who allows no wickedness to happen would be absolutely controlling his children, meaning he would be a tyrant. This was the proposed approach by the truly "awful" one. -Rusty

Korihor and Alma each have a very compelling arguement. . . . I experienced this in a very real way while serving my 2 year proselyting mission in Scotland. I began to read this Korihor saga during my personal study of the Book of Mormon one day while on my mission . . . and because Im a bit of a slow reader . . . I spent several days under what felt like an extremely gloomy cloud of doubt as I read Korihor's arguement, which seemed to be directed specifically to me. As I struggled with this uneasy feeling for those several days I even thought it perculiar that the very Book that is supposed to convince me that there is a God, had just convinced me that there wasn't a God. . . . I began to question why I was even serving a mission, and if anything I had ever been taught was truly real, or if it really was just the "effects of a frenzied mind". Fortunately I continued to read and finally was humbled and struck with complete awe at Alma's testimony that we have "all things that testify that there is a God" . . . It was much like the experience of Moses, or Joseph Smith for me . . . had I not experienced those several days of darkness and doubt, I wouldn't have appreciated the brilliant light and warmth that filled my soul as I read those words of Alma . . . I then Knew without a doubt, Heavenly Father lives, that He loves me and was very much aware of me and my needs at that specific moment in time. On top of all of this, Alma goes on to beautifully sum up the conclusion of those who give in to the prompts of the devil. Korihor was not much different from each of us . . . much like my experience of Satan using The Book of Mormon to convince me that God doesnt exist . . .likewise Korihor confesses that Satan appeared to him as a messenger from God to convince him (korihor) that the God who sent him (satan) doesnt exist. . . . and somehow we both believed him. . . . Im just thankful I pushed beyond that false teaching to enjoy the light at the end of the tunnel, and didnt suffer the demise which met Korihor

It's hard to imagine a serious discussion of the identity of the anti-christ without including the references in the book of Daniel. Korihor was a God and Christ denying individual in BofM history. But he will not sit in the temple in Jerusalem proclaiming that he is God. That seems to me the important anti-christ.

LOVE your name, GetKraken! Yes, there are several references to a specific antichrist. I wanted to emphasize to viewers though that anyone opposed to the full doctrine of Christ is antichrist. Hence, many who claim WE aren’t Christian are actually antichrist themselves.

Brigham young gives a very straightforward speech in the journal of discourses concerning signs and wonders. He is leaving the saints for a time and warns that Satan can replicate EVERYTHING that god does except the Holy Spirit. Anti christ will do miracles in the last days and deceive many. A miracle is NOT a way to know a good spirit from a dark one. The Holy Ghost is our gift from god of discernment and should not be taken lightly. He urges, very similar to Pres Nelson that you will not survive the last days without it.
