In all honesty the picture are better than 08 and the HD videos are miles ahead of 08. Lighting is a different story. But you are comparing professional video from back then to a live stream video. The live stream was so bad back it 08, it didn't even exist.

Martin won one pose in the back lat spread, and decisively, but phil is winning the rest IMO. His combination of bubbly round muscle mass, and perfect muscle quality makes Phil such a stand out bodybuilder, no matter who you put him against. Many other shots are close, and obviously not known for his crazy X frame, but when you include the arms, and the facts hes pretty complete everywhere including calves, id give it to 2008 phil Its not mentioned much, but phil absolutely could have started his olympia reign earlier than he did and beat 2008 dexter. Not saying this version should have, but maybe if he posed differently in both back shots. He gained more mass there later on, but the way he posed drastically changed it as well. The way hes hitting the back lat spread is awful here, only showing off his traps. And the back double, martin is taking after the way phil was known to hit the shot, while phil hadent figured it out yet lol
@MichaelHernandez-mv7on
@MichaelHernandez-mv7on 13 күн бұрын
Thank you, finally someone knows. Phil in the beginning of his career didn't know how to take advantage of posing since he didn't knew what would work for him. His back lat spread was straight as opposed to leaning back how he learned later on, leaning back would give the illusion that his traps and lower back were one fused muscle. Like you stated his lower back isn't 3D because he isn't leaning back, so it doesn't have the thick lower back look. Phil knew he wasn't wide but was super defined. So he experimented with posing until he found out what works for him

Really like Martin a lot, but I have to give it to Phil. A couple of poses Phil is better AND Phil is quite a bit taller than Martin - and it is a bit harder for a tall man to carry the kind of shape with size and proportion that Phil did with this height. That said - Martin is only 27 and quite literally has not hit his prime years yet. By the time he reaches 30, if things go as they are, he will be top 3 consistently. Def will take a title or two or maybe be the next dominant open winner after Phil. We shall see. The time in Texas after he moved from Denver was put to good use that is for sure.
@FluffyandDixie
@FluffyandDixie 15 күн бұрын
He is just to short to be Olympia. Olympia should be 180cm plus
@armyfirefighter
@armyfirefighter 15 күн бұрын
@@FluffyandDixie I would not put a height limit like that as most open bodybuilders are around 175cm. (Phil and Jay Cutler are both 175). That said, all things being equal, the judges will tend to go for the taller bodybuilder and I believe all those dominant men in the title are all 175 cm or taller. (Phil and Jay 175, Dorian 178, Ronnie and Lee are 180 and 181, and Arnold was like 188.) Some shorter winners over the years of course, but most of those considered legendary winners of Olympia are on the taller side of the average. Martin is 170 cm tall.

1:30 - Martin has a better lats and taper. A smaller waist. More deeply separated thighs, and more muscle overall!! Martin also has better proportions and structure. Phil has better arms, and that's about it!! But if you look at Martin's arm next to Phil's, you'll see Martin's arm actually looks pretty good in comparison? I think in this comparison of their debut's, Martin is wining almost every shot?? He just has more dense muscle, and he is so structurally superior! The only shot he's losing is perhaps the rear double, because he's leaning back too far, and it's hard to see his back. But even in that shot his shoulders dwarf Phil's! I really don't know what other people commenting here are looking at, when they are saying that Phil is winning easily?? 1:30 - there is just no way Phil is beating Martin in this pose!! Size, proportion, hardness and separation. Martin is winning every criteria!!

Martin is already maxed out on his frame. Phil was still progressing and wasn't maxed out. I'm sorry but no one compares to the gift, just Coleman. In the back latspread Phil isn't striking the pose like he did in later years. He isn't leaning his back, back which doesn't show his back definition the way it did in later years. Martin on the other hand is leaning his back, back. What's funny his that bodybuilders never use to never hit the back latspread like this. The back latspread was always about showing width, so the ideal way to show width in that pose is to hit it straight and not lean in any way. Phil knowingly he is narrow but detailed, he hit his Blatspread with a lean showing his traps and his lower back fusing together like one muscle group

I rather have Martins problem in the early stage of the career. Phil had trouble with his back that he needed to fill out and so he did but that is not easy. Martin tho he already pretty much has the back already. His problems is easier to fix, some posing issues and and he only needs to fine tune and keep grinding overall, he doesn't have a body part that really lacking big, his biceps yes but I feel it's genetic

Phils pecs arent torn in the side chest XD everyone gets this to an extent when flexing, it just has to do with how shortened your chest can contract in areas. Andrew jacked comes to mind as well. The rambo comparison is off, and a horrible pec tear lol

After reading these comments it’s clear it’s an unpopular take, but I truly think this phil would have been smoked by Martin. Phil’s midsection loses him the front double, and the Abs and thigh right off the bat, and Martin’s legs are blowing Phil’s out of the water in every single shot. This Phil wasn’t the “gift” yet imo

Phil is also too narrow whereas Martin is wide as a house.

Martin needs to stop leaning back so much on the rear double. But i think he wins this one due to conditioning mainly.

The camera angle on phil photos are clearly lower than Martins. Thats why the sizing was dificult adn the feet dont show on pictures Besides the usual camera coment. I am big fan of Martin, but damn Phil is way too good, Phil still wins this
