Never heard of King's Hardware, and I've lived in Western Washington my whole life, 6+ decades. When I want fried chicken, I mean FRIED CHICKEN, not a stupid chicken sandwich. Hans's Place in Tacoma has the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life, (except maybe my mom's, and sadly, that hasn't been an option for nearly 20 years). People drive down from Seattle, and up from Olympia for that chicken. Cooked in a broaster, it it far better than deep fried chicken. Moist, delicious, and way less greasy.

Bobwhite Counter in NYC might be the best in NYC, but it's not the best in all of NY. That would be Chicken Bandit and their seasoned fried chicken in Syracuse, NY. It's not battered, but that doesn't matter, it's amazing. The restaurant it originated in was renovated on the tv show Restaurant Impossible, and chef Robert Irvine loved the chicken. That restaurant has since closed, but the owner started a catering business and food truck featuring the chicken, and people line up for it everywhere.

I got sick from Kicken Chicken in Delaware. They made a mistake and put the fried wings back into the bloody bucket instead of the hot sauce bucket to toss it. With in five hours my entire family thought they were going to die from the nausea and vomiting. Avoid at all cost. Royal Farms chicken is delicious and you won't get sick.

Jollibee in Summerlin but only if they get customer service down. Sadly last 3 visits were no bueno, no kids toy for my 4 year old, then another visit they said 15 minutes for chicken to be ready so we opted for palabok and spaghetti ang get chicken elsewhere and still took 20 mins, and a recent visit their coke machine was down. No more Jollibee for a while, emailed them and no response lol. But still worth tasting if you havent had it. Will not be returning any time soon. Too bad as it was a normal visit on Saturdays after my daughters dance class.

In the UK you can tell when a chippy (chippy refers to chips which are fries in the US, and they sell mostly fish and chips) needs to change their oil when you can smell the oil from the front of the chippy. Someone told me that when you can smell the oil you know they need to change it and depending on how well business has been will depending how long they'll go before changing it.

The best fried chicken in Andalusia, Alabama is not Churches or Popeyes--but at PicNSave. One of the best things about PicNSave Fried Chicken is that you don't have to take out a loan to pay for it. 8 pieces (4 thighs, 4 drumsticks) are $4.35 or thereabouts. You can't make 8 pieces of fried chicken at home for that.

@@conniedefehr6692 Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 tablespoon salt 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme leaves 1/2 tablespoon dried basil leaves 1/3 tablespoon dried oregano leaves 1 tablespoon celery salt 1 tablespoon ground black pepper 1 tablespoon dried mustard 3 tablespoons paprika (original recipe calls for 4 tablespoons) 2 tablespoons garlic salt 1 tablespoon ground ginger 3 tablespoons ground white pepper 2 teaspoons Accent Seasoning , optional (I left this out) 1 cup buttermilk 1 large egg 1 chicken , cut into 10 pieces (2 wings, 2 legs, 2 thighs and 2 breasts each cut in half to make 4 breast pieces) vegetable oil for frying US Customary - Metric Instructions Note: click on times in the instructions to start a kitchen timer while cooking. Add the spices to a small food processor until they're all uniform in size and the thyme, basil and oregano aren't larger in size anymore. Add the flour in a bowl with all the herbs and spices and mix with a whisk. In a second larger bowl add the buttermilk and egg together and whisk until combined. Add the chicken to the buttermilk mixture for 20-30 minutes. Remove chicken from the buttermilk soak and let any excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture on all sides, then shake off the excess coating. Let it rest on a cookie sheet for 20-30 minutes. Add oil to a deep fryer or a large pot that is at least 5 inches high so that the chicken can be fully submerged. Heat the oil to 350 degrees and fry in small batches for 15-18 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oil and add to a drying rack on top of a clean cookie sheet. If you add it to a paper towel or newspaper the bottom of the chicken will steam from the heat and become soft.

The Olde Country Diner’s chicken is good, but nowhere near the best in West Virginia. I ate there several times when I was working nearby on a couple gas pipeline jobs. There are several truck stop diners with better fried chicken, along with a little lunch place along the Gauley river whose name I can’t recall (I stopped there on a couple whitewater trips years ago). Bluegrass Kitchen in Charleston and Huntington Prime in Huntington both make fried chicken that blows Olde Country Diner’s completely out of the water, and if the Greenbrier makes it I’m sure theirs is amazing. I also can’t imagine there’s not a better chicken place in Morgantown or Fayetteville, either. Olde Country Diner’s chicken doesn’t suck, it’s well above average, but there’s a LOT better elsewhere in the Mountain State.

The best chicken is a matter of taste, with national chains KFC, Church's and Popeye's all having their say. Frankly, the best chicken is the stuff I make and you could make, if you have the time. We can never copy KFC (unless you can afford an expensive pressure stove), but the other two we can match. Cut a chicken, soak it overnight in the fridge, flour, dip in buttermilk, re-flour, and cook at 350F. Enjoy...
