The Oatey blue Teflon tape is usually very thick, just 2 or 3 turns. Also, Al should have been tension pulled the teflon, not wrapped like a hotdog and bun.

I use blue monster. I’m not a fan of Oatey. Let the other plumbing influencers promote that brand. Not me never.

Mikey, I cringe when i see jobs with expansion tanks installed horizontal! I've seen them with a long nipple like you installed here, but without support. not too smart! I bet insurance claim wouldn't be honored when it breaks off and floods the residence.
