One thing I like about SJR is that he is doing deals that people won't remember but could really transform united in the future. It's not all about going spending 80m every signing and let's be honest we have spent some stupid amounts of money even on young lads like Hojlund so adding these type of players in will make us future proof so we don't have to spend stupid money on young players in the future

As I see it, some of our best performing players are currently amad (bought as teenager), mainoo (academy), garnacho (academy), collyer (academy). It's fairly obvious to me we need to just give youth a proper chance. I'm happy with this signing, much like many of the other kids currently being bought up.

​@@SizweSibusisoMazibuko Well, the first concern would be that "THEY RELEASED HIM" he didn't just move from one academy to the next like you're suggesting. Secondly... It's two clubs, not just one. That's actually very rare... Especially for players who are still somehow in the academy system within the premiership. One club could be wrong, but for two to release him... There's got to be some underlying issue with the player. Versatility is a fantastic selling point for a player but our academy is arguably the best in the country and if he's not good enough for West Ham or Chelsea... Then invariably, he's not good enough for United.

Just stated the *fact* that numerous players over the years have moved from one academy to another. For a variety of different reasons I might add. Do you perhaps have deeper, detailed information as to why this *specific* player was released by those teams when they released him? If so could you please share a link to this information or reportage. The only thing I can say about this player is that despite your misgivings about his prior stints at other clubs, having eventually joined Arsenal's youth setup he has shown that he's very talented, been given first team minutes with Arsenal clearly wanting to keep him and proceeded to have multiple major clubs interested in his signature. Are all the coaches and scouts working at all these clubs negligent incompetent charlatans? In my years spent watching football and the emergence of countless players during that time along with the varying degrees of expectations placed on different players I've come to the realisation that, just like life in general, not everyone's path to success or failure is the same. Past mistakes of pre/adolescents do not condemn their careers. Youth player development isn't a rigid straightforward process for all players. There are serious players who had major career accomplishments, some were even all time greats but at youth level were thought of as average or above average but nowhere near elite. The converse is also true, brilliant exceptional players at youth level who were marked as being the next great hope but who ended underachieving spectacularly.
