I remember Body Count being in the news in the early 90s, when the song Cop Killer caused such an uproar that both the President and Vice President put in their ignorant two cents. I was just a kid, but it was wild seeing grown ass adults so terrified of a song.

When I was young, I used to make an artform out of getting into shows, especially sold out shows. DRI and Body Count sold out in my home town, so I went out there to see if I could find a way to get in. The whole block was swarming with police. They were just waiting for something to go down so they could arrest Ice T.

Body Count was the first band that I ever saw in concert, back in 1992. They opened up for Guns N Roses and Metallica at Arrowhead Stadium. I was only 15 years old and rocking out. Ice T invented gangster rap. New Jack Hustler.

I've always been in Metal and Hip-hop Head but when I went to I think went to Waxie- Maxie across the street from my house and Picked up Cop Killer cassette still remember the Clerk behind the counter and saying to me you know this is this a Rock Album I looked her right in the Eye and I said I know exactly what it is!! i was a metalhead at 15 in Australia in 95 and a friend played the body count song on the Ice T OG album and i listened to the whole album. From that day i listen to metal and rap and Ice T is my fav rapper. all his albums are great but Ice T return of the real is my fav album and midnight of OG is my fav track

He helped create the league. Doesn't mean he was good enough to compete in it. He's a creative and a hustler and the best political lyric writer there is. He's just not a great rapper in the context of urban music. Metal is the only vessel aggressive enough to convey Ice T properly.

Ice-T was relevant in gangsta rap for around 5 years. He's been relevant in metal for 32 years. Although it's disputable; the argument can be made that he and Ernie C invented rap metal. I recommend starting out with their 1992 debut and working your way up from there. They started out really raw and unrefined, but as their discography grew, so did their skill level. By the time "Manslaughter" came out in 2014, they had reached the point of where they were performing flawlessly and with precision; and it's been that way ever since. Body Count is the GOAT of rap metal, and it's unlikely anyone will ever dethrone them.

Ice T wrote the song '99 Problems' that was covered by a rapper you may have heard of! I first bought a Bodycount CD in 1994, their first album that was released in 1991 - the last song on it was banned for decades called 'Cop Killer' because of cop beatings at the time, Rodney King mainly.

Nah son, just all of Bloodlust, but particularly The Ski Mask Way and All Love is Lost. That album was heavily Slayer influenced and has really dark themes beyond traditional gangbanger style like this track. It’s also really political which Body Count has always been.

But the way you kept saying you never heard of BC made it seem like you were implying BC was unheard of. In other words wherever you're from no one ever listened to that band. Because I would think most people who were an adult or at least a teenager during that time have at least heard the name of the band especially if you're familiar with Ice T.

Simply check out there old stuff, listen to there first album called Bodycount and afterwards spread the word. Tell all your friends of this amazing band you have discovered. And you don't have to tell them that this stuff is old. I was 18 or 20 when BC got over the ocean to us (I am european). No Internet back then (I know the Internet was invented in the 60's but it really got big with the 2000's) so everything took a bit longer than today. BTW I am 45 now. And my first suggestion for review would be Bodycount - There goes the neighborhood.
