2:18 yes, when referring to the Thousand Sons, often you’ll hear Rubric thrown in there. It’s in reference to the Rubric is Ahriman, a little fucky wucky by Ahriman that turned the less psychic of the legion into effectively mindless drones, or Rubric Marines. Their bodies were completely erased, leaving their souls and armor to be used and manipulated by the more powerful marines that weren’t converted in this process. And I forgot the most important part actually. They are still there in mind. Their souls are them, effectively, so their existence can best be described as “I have no mouth and I must scream”.

at 1:06:10 , Chairon mentions Calth, during the Horus heresy, Horus asked the Word Bearers and the Ultramarines to go on Calth to prepare for a planned attack against the Orks, but it was a trap layed against the Ultramarines, since Horus knew that Primarch Roboute Guilliman and his legion wouldnt join the traitors side. The Word bearers attacked them by surprise, trying to cripple the Ultramarines and they wiped out half of the Ultramarines, along with millions of deaths amongst the civilians and destroyed Calth's atmosphere making it impossible to survive on the surface of the planet, but in the end the loyalists won, so Chairon being a boy on Calth during the attack means he has seen some wild sh*t ! hahaha

Gameplay is surprisingly similar to this so you won't have to relearn everything. Or someone can recommend a good summary if you just need the story. 👌

27:50 I completely agree with this statement! I've read about a dozen or so of the novels and you could do ALOT of those stories with this kind of gameplay. The one at the top of my list would have to be "Battle of the Fang". Whilst I am a Space Wolf fan and am biased, I think alot of people would want to witness that kind of epic scale battle. Synopsis: It is M32, a thousand years after the Horus Heresy. The Scouring is over and the Imperium at the height of its post-Crusade power. When Magnus the Red is tracked down to Gangava Prime, the Space Wolves hasten to engage the daemon primarch. Even as Great Wolf Harek Ironhelm closes on his ancient enemy, the Fang on the Space Wolves home world is besieged by a massive force of Thousand Sons. A desperate battle ensues as the skeleton forces of Wolf Lord Asvald Greylock attempt to hold back the attacking hosts before the last of his meagre defences gives in. Though a single Scout ship survives to summon Great Wolf Harek Ironhelm back to Fenris, none of the defenders truly realise the full scale the horror that awaits them nor what the Battle for the Fang will cost them all. For Context, "The Fang" is a mountain on Fenris that is so massive, that it's peak has Docking areas where they can service the Chapter's warships. It's the Space wolves' home, base of operation, storehouse, and even has areas to create weapons of war.

Honestly I think the Blood of Asaheim series would be better. You can get 3 books out of it, it doesn't focus on "main" characters (although Ragna Blackmane and Njal Stormcaller are in it), it ends on Cadia, and it's more focused on 1 pack than Battle of the Fang.

Oh, they won't go into the Chiaron thing but 10,000 years ago the Word Bearers attacked Calth in the backstabbing of the millennium. This was before most people knew Chaos was a thing and at the start of the Horus Heresy, so the loyalist didn't know half their numbers where traitors. Around that time the man that was responsible for the primaris program took youths in the millions from all over, gave them the primaris surgery and froze them for 10,000 years to work out the kinks until they were ready and deployed don't even think 100 years before the story started. So Chiaron was a youth taken from Calth and he experienced at least part of the Word Bearer invasion and is over 10,000 years old but effectively he probably only has around 50 years of combat experience.

Space Marines are a mixed bag. On one extreme end of the spectrum, you have groups like the Marines Malevolent that show a complete lack of care for civilian or guard casualties as long as the objective is achieved and on the other end, you have chapters like the Salamanders that will to some degree potentially jeopardize the mission and sacrifice themselves to protect civilians and guardsmen. Generally, most Space Marine chapters are somewhere in the middle but leaning a bit more towards the Salamander's direction. They have some degree of empathy and will do what they can to mitigate civilian & guard casualties but not at the expense of their brothers or the mission objective and they may have a little bit of a superiority complex. Generally, most Space Marine chapters do have a decent level of empathy for their brothers in arms though.

14:00 yep that's the guard. "Here's you mass produced gun, your flak vest, and your propaganda book now charge literal hell." What? You don't want to? *BAM*. Goes to the next guy, "Here's you mass produced gun, your flak vest, and your propaganda book....." Also the other thing with this is it applies to Space Marines 10x fold. You don't question orders even if you might think they might be stupid. Issue with Gab and Titus here is under their system Gab should shut the hell up and follow orders. If he has an issue he should go to the chaplain off mission. But yeah it's also very bad leadership on Titus part although comparing him to the first game he has become very bitter because of the actions of another squad mate in the past.

30:15 - Is it just me, or does this place look like the Phazon Mines from Metroid Prime? 35:15 - LORE-ACCURATE HAMMERFALL BUNKER!!! Seriously, complain all you want about how the Hammerfall has been nerfed in 10th Ed, my biggest gripe has always been that, despite it being a defining characteristic of unit, you have NEVER been able to Deep-Strike a Hammerfall Bunker. 40:05 - And by 'remember' he means 'learn,' because he was bouncing around like a Splatta-Kannon shell last time. 43:20 - Here? Better call Captain Planet. 51:09 - To be clear, killing the Hive Tyrant doesn't mean all the 'nids just fall down dead. Not only are there plenty of lesser Synapse Creatures in a Tyranid swarm, but loss of synapse connection just means that the lesser organisms revert to instinctual behavior (usually random, undirected violence). 55:55 - Those are probably lesser members of the Astropathic Choir. Faster-than-light communication, like travel, is done through the Warp. Psykers called Astropaths send telepathic transmissions out into space where they are received and relayed across the galaxy. To send messages such distances typically requires a host of Astropaths working together. A ship will generally use about half a dozen Astropaths led by a single chief Astropath. Needless to say, a planetary-scale relay needs...a few more. Now might also be a good time to mention Imperial Chronology. An Imperial date is 7 digits followed by the Millennium. The last 3 numbers are the year, the three numbers before that are the part of the year (divided into 1000 parts), and the first number is a generalized reference to how many Astropathic relays the message had to pass through (which indicates how accurate the message is likely to be). So if you get a message with the date 3.925.406.M40, the message was sent after 4 PM on December 3rd of the year 39,406, with a decent-but-not-super level of accuracy. Of course, Guilliman revamped the time system after he saw how F'd up Imperial records were after 10,000 years, and I'm not as familiar with the new time system, but this system is still used for dates Pre-M42.
