We Africans have gone through a lot since the coming of the white man to Africa. The divisions thy planted and the distrust they created, is still hurting us up to this day. Things are changing. In the late 1970s when I was growing up on a Caribbean island, my brother was going through his ‘back to Africa’ phase, as was the rest of the island. This made my mother so mad because she wanted no part of what she called nonsense. So he couldn’t wear the dashiki, or loc his hair or any of that. But he could read, and boy, did he read. And he would give me books. He gave me the book ‘State of Blood’ about the atrocities of Idi Amin. And after I read it, at 8 years old, I learned how cruel people could be. It’s bad enough when others are cruel, but when one is cruel towards their own, it’s even worse.
@LillysConner5 сағат бұрын
Did you read the last king of Scotland or watched the movie? I was just 3 when Amin took over and dad’s family taking me and my brother away from mom, lived with grandma then school age from relative to relative, enduring both physical and emotional abuse and didn’t see my father till 9 yrs later, I remember so many disappearing never to be seen again.
@jesusjzhib241416 күн бұрын

Idi Amin was a darling of the white and was an astute soldier. He even practiced internationally eg in Kenya. He was strong, sharp and effective. When he became leader of Uganda the colonialists wanted to use and misuse him for their own gains. When Iddi Amin declined their manipulations they started demonizing him. Amin lived ahead of his time. He is an African hero

Uganda, mu Uganda every body have pain and carries it in its way. These two men you can see the pain though one has anger but after listening to his friend he caught up with the past because that what we are all going though. My dad had an accident before 1966 but my uncle down in villages was made to empty his house properties loading army's lorry and afterwards told to sit in his chair 'MWAMI AKOYE' and they finished him with shootings. People, people lets come together as before to leave our children and grandchildren in 'PEACE' of the past
