Lucas, you are one of THE most authentic individuals out there. We watch your channel because the content makes us smile; and we enjoy seeing what you are building with your family. I have never felt that your content is "commercialized"; especially because you are very up front about BOTH the good and bad with products. The MOST special thing about you is your ability to handle things/the way you handle things when they don't go as expected; we appreciate you!

Spot on Lucas! I had this exact conversation yesterday with someone else. Like you, I communicate daily with MechMaxx and they have sent me numerous pieces of equipment to use, review and enjoy. I also reached out to all of the sawmill manufacturers and MechMaxx was the only company that took an interest in my channel. They are most definitely a real company and the quality of everything I have received from them is great. Keep up the good work! Its so much fun to share your adventures through your content!

Lucas, I think it's great that you are able to work with MechMax. They are new company that people wouldn't be aware of them if youtubers like you didn't share them with their viewers. As far as rude comments and upsetting your viewer's. it will only get worse as the channel grows. You'll just have to ignore it or silence their comments. I know you take pride in youtube content, but it is your content, not theirs. Do what works best for you and your family, no matter what people say. Wish you the best

OUTSTANDING video! I really appreciate MechMaxx's presence in the U.S., and I especially like that they are willing to sell in California, which a lot of importers can't or won't do because our smog laws are so terrible. Here's a suggestion for MechMaxx: The U.S. market is missing affordable, small TRACKED tractors. The cheapest and smallest commonly available tracked tractor in the U.S. is the New Holland TK4 series, which sell for around $115,000. There aren't any commonly available used tracked tractors, either. I see lots of small rubber-tracked tractors on AliBaba, but I don't want to deal with the headache of trying to buy a machine from China and risk import problems and get no manufacturer support. I really wish MechMaxx could sell me a small rubber-tracked tractor with 25-45 horsepower, hydraulic/hydrostatic drive, a hydraulic Category I 3-point hitch with PTO, and a loader bucket/blade in the front. A tractor like that could replace 3 or 4 of my machines that I use for food plot management, land clearing, log skidding, manure and hay handling, etc... We've tried to handle a lot of this work with ATV implements (Iron Baltic, etc...), but they aren't tough enough, and the ATVs don't have enough traction. And we can't get our wheeled tractors to work in tight woods. I think this market segment is wide open.

Keep up the videos. We just bought a 32’’ mechmaxx sawmill and from what I see they are built well and are very functional. It took about 4 hours to put it together. We just finished our first log yesterday, we cut a 20” ash that was 14’ long and it did a great job. We had one problem with a frayed cable and they have already shipped a replacement. We have no regrets so far and will be looking at their other products in the future.

Props and respect for the honesty bro! I have zero problem when a creator mentions or even hawks their sponsors wares. I am made aware and thats good enough. I can also personally attest to sawmills being expensive. I have 2, a Frontier (same price class as a MechMaxx) and an older Cooks MP32 (best in class if you ask me). That said, there are 2 mods from Cooks that would make any mill 100x better: their diesel drop-felt wiper lube system and their adjustable roller guides.

I figured it will pay for itself fast in lumber with all the projects I have. I figured why not spend a little more money than the harbor freight model to have a wider cut plus these come with a longer track which I need.

I completely understand the hesitation of people to take the word of influencers who receive free equipment, or receive some kind of substantial sponsorship. Usually that means that the influencer is going to have every incentive to only praise the item/product and not give any criticism, even constructive. It’s just the way of the world today, and not without good cause, to be fair.
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I understand it. I will say that I have had many sponsors directly tell me to be completely honest and to share complaints. You are right though, it isn’t as easy to be critical when you didn’t scrimp and save your own money to buy it. I try to look at my “reviews” as my credibility on the line and I value my reputation. That is my incentive to be fair.
@whilomforge34027 ай бұрын
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead I believe you, Lucas! I just mean that most people with KZbin channels or social media presence will be willing to adjust the way they’d normally look at a product or company, in return for money, or items. Which gives honest men like you a harder time to convince people that you aren’t doing that. Heck, I know that temptation as well. I was approached by an outdoor power equipment company (Green Machine) several years ago, and given several products to review. They were very good, for the most part, with a few hiccups, and just the fact that I added those few negatives into my video, and article, they completely cut me off. I was almost tempted to not include them, in the hopes the company would rescind their boycott of me, but I just couldn’t do it.

Coming from a person that doesn't know you, or have a personal relationship with you, your video comes across to me as completely honest and creditworthy. I don't see anything in this video that couldn't be more real or honest. I'm a person that's relatively financially comfortable, but with that being said, I couldn't or wouldn't pay for a lot of the stuff that you're acquiring without being financially burdened by buying them. The things that you're acquiring without paying actual money for ARE a value to me, because they're allowing you to make content with them, and help me consider them and determine if they're things that that I may want when the time does come for me to possibly purchase some of the equipment that you're using. You obviously know that some commenters are just trolls. I'm sure you've dealt with many of them in reading your comments. I hate to admit this, but I've been guilty of trolling some people in the past. I try not to be this way any longer though. And let's just say, that I think that some people deserve to be trolled for some of the content that they create. Especially when they're making false statements or flat-out lying about a given subject. But enough about that. I love your content, and think that you're providing valuable content to anybody who happens to have any similar interests as you (or I) have. "You keep doing you"!!! Edit: I also have a very small KZbin channel, and the trolling that people do with what I consider very good videos (such as yours) makes me possibly not want to grow my channel like you're doing. It makes it a tough decision for somebody that's considering wanting to grow and have their channel monetized. I just don't know if it's worth it for someone like myself.
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead7 ай бұрын
It is definitely a downside to growth, but normally it isn’t too hard to keep it in perspective. I don’t lose sleep over it, but sometimes I also think the negative comments give me good ideas of how I can share and improve what I’m doing and why. Thank for the comment! Good luck with whatever you decide!

I like to see folks I can relate to, who live like I do and roughly afford the things I could hope to one day own. You have been that way for quite a while and I also love your positive attitude and values. As your channel has grown and sponsors have come calling you, and your channel’s content, are moving out of my affordability zone and thus becoming less relevant to me. So while I am happy for you and the success of your channel, I’m sad to see the content become less and less relevant and interesting to me. I certainly understand your perspective, and hope that you can see where someone like me is coming from. I am happy for your success, you have earned it! But it is bittersweet for me as the content that I have grown to love is going away.. As you said, it is what it is… Godspeed to you Lucas!

I watch a lot of channels with product sponsorship and I have always found you to be willing to share the negatives as well as the positives. That said, this video is a really eloquent, even-handed response to those few folks who somehow feel entitled and qualified to judge hard working folks like you. I know I don't have to say it, but the HUGE majority is solidly in your camp, and continues to look forward to your content on MechMax, or whatever else you're up to.

The company I work for sells farm equipment under our own brand. MechMaxx is selling a baler that is a cheap copy of our baler's design and they copied & pasted the content of our manual, including pictures and everything. If they have to steal other companies' support and technical content, what does it say about their integrity as a company and their knowledge & support of their products?

Some comments have ruined my whole day before. People sure are awful on the internet. I had questions about the shipping processes of getting freight delivery to a near impossible location. Woodland mills never responded to calls or emails and its been 3 weeks. Mechmaxx answered my concerns about 30 minutes after sending email on a sunday morning. That was impressive.

I was wondering about MechMax, your first one to show the mill. I bough Norwood 12 yeas ago for my retirement hobby, I soon found out that it's more work then hobby, I prefer hauling out logs with tractor then sawing them up....... I dont mind commercial videos if it something I'm interested in or at end of video, just dont start a video and 5 minutes in video like others do advertise stuff like dog food to life insurance, put that at end of video..... I did see one video where you advertise { Jerry's Resharp }, seem like a easy web-site and they are selling Ripper band blades, I might give them a try. I have using Woodmizer blades, but if Rippers are same or better, next year I'll try them.......

Lucas, I like your channel. I like that you clearly state purposes in doing KZbin. And, I don't see your association with MechMaxx as a commercial, but.... I can't support another importer from China. As I was scolded by another content creator for my comments regarding not agreeing with supporting another Chinese product importer, because my comments were made on a Chinese computer and phone, somehow my protestation is hypocritical. No. I am merely expressing my disdain for the US selling out. Plain and simple. Add to that a new company that parallels the customer throttling that has occurred via mail order modeling. I get MechMaxx's intent, but we'll see in 2, 5, 10, or 15 years.

First; I wouldn't say you would never be able to afford it. As you put in the work and time and your channel grows, you would absolutely be able to afford these things. KZbinrs have done that since its inception. But that takes time and effort. So the question becomes, do you put in the hard work and extra time to buy your own product, or take the "easier" route and take a freebie from a company as a sponsor (Selling out as many call it). Personally, im ok with you taking on a sponsor. As long as you are ALWAYS 100% transparent and let people know it was a product given to you (IE: every time you talk about it) and that you didnt have to pay for, and that you never try to pedal it onto your viewers. They will watch your videos and decide if its a good product. Ive seen too many good channels magically get a new product, never mention they were given all their crap, try to push it onto their viewer, all for profit.. Just to dump that sponsor 6 moths later and start over with a new one. You cant trust what those channels are telling you about a product. Especially if there is a financial gain in it for them.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I appreciate the support and your comments!

Good message Lucas, but as your channel grows and evolves, you will continuously have people that will complain about anything and everything they think you should be doing on YOUR channel. I don't think you have anything to prove to anyone, pretty obvious the type of character you have, keep doing you, and remember, "Life's a garden, dig it" - Joe Dirt.

Ed, I always appreciate your comments. Thanks for the support! Love the quote btw. 😂

I enjoy watching your videos, but I don't agree with most of the other commenters. A channel is nothing with out the viewers and I don't think you should just ignore those who have a critical view they share. For every one viewer who shares that view there are more who feel the same way, but just don't bother. In fact I would say those who are critical are more important to you than those who just say love your channel man. I am not a You Tuber, but I do manage a 250 person facility so I do have some experience. I know you also have management experience in your other job. Just another opinion.
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead7 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree with you. I try to learn something from even the comments I disagree with. I will also say that part of the reason I felt the need to make this video is because I feel like this complaint isn’t something I can necessarily completely change to accommodate so I wanted to offer my perspective to those who don’t like the sponsored products…. As always I appreciate your thoughtful comment! 👊

I wouldn't call you a sell out, however i would critizize mechmaxx for not even bothing to respond to or attempt to open a dialog on our request for sponsorship.. i've been trying to tell them about things they need to improve from the begining. all i wanted was the mill like everyone seems to get. and they'd get their review exposure out of that. but either their normal points of contant on social media etc. simply aren't trained to or don't have access to eascalate the requiest to a corperate department. and thats me being real nice about it. i've started considering doing hit peice videos about all the flaws in some models making you need to upgrade to more expensive ones to avoid, because after my near year's attempt to join them have fallen on deaf ears maybe i should try beating them them.. idk.. Either way. I've exhausted every other option to aquire one pretty much other than selling my vehilce which would not be possible.

I make KZbin videos for a living, and I would like to share my thoughts on your comment Sponsorships are not something that automatically happens because you have a KZbin channel. It took me 2 years, 500 videos published, and 50,000 subscribers to get a meaningful Equipment sponsorship. You have to build a following and demonstrate an ability to consistently get good view counts before you can even be considered for sponsorship. Even building a following does not guarantee you any level of sponsorship from any company. They operate under free will. The thought of using a negative review as punitive retribution towards the company is unethical. These companies don’t owe us anything, but we do owe viewer our honest opinions. Giving a negative opinion because of some type of personal grudge is not fair to the viewer. I wish you the best with your channel
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead13 күн бұрын
Very well stated, Rockhill. It took me 4 years of three videos a week and 40k subscribers. It’s work. Nothing is free.
@WoodsLegacyWoodcraft13 күн бұрын
@@RockhillfarmYT Not so sure i agree anymore, view counts don't really mean anything, other than users can be clickbaited into coming back. as much as they would like you to believe otherwise. real exposure is generated when someone searches specifically for the product as they are already inclined.

@@WoodsLegacyWoodcraft I honestly read your comment and couldn’t understand what you were trying to say. Do you think that a company owes you something? I have 150,000 subscribers and my videos have been viewed over 80 million times Companies turn me down for partnership all of the time. Many don’t respond at all. That doesn’t bother me. They don’t owe me anything

@@RockhillfarmYT and i think they do when you offer them something in return, you think they aren't getting something out of the deal if you do they have you bent over backwards. your buying into the lie that view count means something. view count and subscribers means almost nothing from a company perspective now had you said they use view count and subscribers to gatekeep partnerships that would have been an accecptable answers. because yes then you are right thats what they do. but as a actual metric it meas nothing it does not do anything for generating them more or less sales having returning subs or not.. what genertes them sales is the ones that search for the product by name which aren't subs.... thats simply a fact. more over you don't even know half of the attempts i've made trything to work with them, not even having anything to do with youtube. like serious issues i detected in their customer facing infascturure i've found that could be lossing them lots of sales having been a computer engineer in the past... now since nothing is free which you so pompously put, and since the issue has been present for a while and you can't say they have someone to handle that already. computer consulting on that level can cost as much as $10K i've tried to bring it to their attention for the obvious and much lower fee.. You can repete a corpo line like they don't owe us anything until your blue in the face tell me did they brand that on your ass when you signed? Because the difference is i'm loyal only once i have a reason to be loyal.. sounds like you are too... nuff said.

Sent pictures to them and had a long talk with them about how they are losing customers. And that cover was the last straw. Well it’s. Been a trip. Not one I want to go through again.
