Judge Holden is from the novel Blood Meridian, a novel set in the US some time after the dinosaurs when man and cow walked together. Judge has committed numerous amounts of crimes such as rape and murder, not only on adults but kids as well. He makes an “honest” living by scalping people. Fang Yuan comes from Reverend Insanity, a world where if you can’t control magical bugs/worms (Gu worms) you’re considered sub human. Those who can control these bugs/worms are called Gu masters and they basically can do anything ranging from moving mountains to living for centuries through these Gu.

To me the connection between Fang Yuan and good and evil becomes blurred. He will do the most evil act for benefit. That means nothing. The most power-hungry, genocidal & megalomaniacal individuals in history would be saints if they gained benefit from it. But they don't gain benefit from it. The entire axis of good is defined by lack of material benefit, it's the baseline of the moral obligation. A truly "good" person, as defined by conventional morality, is someone who does good expecting nothing in return. Fang Yuan would still be evil because he is fundamentally selfish & narcissistic; every act one of self-interest, regardless of the moral consequences.

I say the line between good and evil is blur in Fang Yuan eyes because he truly doesn’t give a shit about how each side think of him. He could be your friend on the side of righteousness, and people will see and praise him as a saint, or even a god. But that was only because you and every good person was useful to his goal. He could be the lord of evil on my side, doing all sorts of evil acts to the good people. And we will see him as our god. But in truth we are just useful to him. But he will backstab both side without a second thought for his goals. In the World of Gu, our view on good and evil is the reason why we are just a pig for Fang Yuan to farm and consumed. That just the type of monster Fang Yuan is. A monster that doesn’t follow the norm of humanity.

What's ironic is that in the current state of the novel one could very well argue that Fang Yuan is the only Immortal Venerable and Star constellation and Giant Sun are both demon venerables. Giant Sun after all cultivates and invented blood path, so that's sufficient to call him a Demonic Venerable. And Star constellation was responsible for the genocide of the variant humans in the past. And then represents Heavenly Court who are most experienced with blood path and even built a rank 8 gu house using blood path. Whereas Fang Yuan only used blood path techniques in his previous life. Judge Holden is definitely more evil simply because he does it for the sake of it. Villains like Sauron, the greatest villain ever I will have no argument, would commit atrocity after atrocity for the sake of his goals, but he wouldn’t (mostly) commit an atrocity on a hapless individual for the sake of it. Holden is just evil incarnate.

i dont know anything about fang yuan, but I'm pretty sure the judge is more powerful (if you believe in a very popular theory about him). So judge holden probably isn't just a human, he is something else, some people think he is literally god, and others think he is the primordial force of war and violence. He is immortal and can seemingly teleport and do other supernatural things, so I would think he is more powerful than Fang Yuan. I haven't watched the series though, so if I'm wrong tell me

The Judge is immoral. Fang Yuan is amoral. And evilness is profound immorality. The judge cares about morality, about right and wrong, and enjoys doing morally wrong things. He just genuinely enjoys acts of evil for no reason other than evil. Fang Yuan doesn't care about morality or about right and wrong. He doesn't enjoy doing immoral acts, he doesn't care if his actions are seen as morally good or as morally evil or about others' and socitiy's opinion of him, unless there are benefits involved. If doing good helped his goals, Fang Yuan would be the greatest saint the world had ever seen.

I don't like descript Fang Yuan as Evil, yeah he is ruthless and does lot of thing what is simply evil but i would say i liked his take about morality, he simply no longer can see the difference between good and bad as far he cares there is only benefit and harm. If we take the quantity of evil deeds that have been done by these two then Fang Yuan would take it, because in the 2000+ chapters he has done lots of evil deeds, but the difference is again because he would do anything for gain, Fang Yuan will quite literally be a saint if he gains power from it, so there’s a big blur when calling him evil, he’s more or so just morally neutral. Judge Holden is quite literally the devils incarnate, maybe even worse than the devil himself, he is what the devil would’ve aspired to be if he wanted to be evil, because in my point of view the devil is simply an antagonist and not a villain, anyways to not get off topic, he is morally the most disgusting and vile and quite literally the most evil character written in fiction, he does it for fun and the QUALITY of his deeds are for greater than Fang Yuan in terms of evil. It’s like saying if Frieza or Dio is more evil, Frieza is a hater and has more kill counts and quantity of deeds, but Dio is more evil, I would rather get my planet destroyed than get eaten by my mother that was zombified by Dio as he watched for the pleasure of it. You could say that AM from I have no Mouth, but I must Scream could have a position in the most evil fictional villain, but he’s not as morally as disgusting as Judge Holden, AM could just be the greatest Hater in all of fiction, which is no joke if you seen the books, his hate for humanity is like unreal levels of hatred. Judge should easily take this, this is not even a debate.
