I have a theory is that paimon is the primodial god but in a weakened state. You can see that the symbol on mora and the genesis crystal symbolizes "fake". But paimon's symbol is rewind,so the symbol represents "real". From what I've know, the second who came from teyvat were defeated. Then celestia's attitude took a whole turn. What if, the second who came actually defeated the primodial god and took the identity of the primodial god? The second who came were actually imposters,and just mislead us? So in conclusion, paimon is the weakened state of the primodial god.

I think that this explains her abandonment issues. She lost and everybody forgot about her as the primordial one. The ones who were her people had all forgotten about her. Looking at paimons personality, I can't help but think that Paimon was a gentle god. The fake god most likely liked chaos leading to him ordering celestia to do the archon war and cataclysm. So yeah, since she lost the entire land she held dearly, she doesn't want to lose the traveler, both because Paimons become attached, but also because she knows that she and the traveler will reach celestia in time.

After the new update, a special melusine says she sees Paimon as a floating rainbow balloon with a single string connected somewhere beyond the sky and the traveller as a monster capable of swallowing the world in a single bite. Something about the "nature" of things and their "future". Rainbow = omni element, balloon = floating, connected to sky = her origins, monster capable of swallowing the world = receiving elements + traveler's future role. Coincidence? I think NOT. That said, I don't think she's acting or pretending. Assuming she IS the primordial god, then she's probably just really weak now having lost all her powers so that's why a lot of things affect her, and she eats a lot (especially slimes which are elemental beings) instinctually to regain her powers. And as for being affected by Irminsul, there must be something else up with it just like how our abyss sibling seems to be part of it instead of being counted as another descender.

2 months later.. but I have 2 theory’s one is that if the unknown god created paimon to keep a sharp eye on the traveller(s) which is why she is trying to help us to find our sibling and the reason why Mona can’t see a lot about paimon is because the unknown god made it so that no one could see anything past or future about paimon keep in mind we don’t know a lot about the unknown god. That’s why she many references to celestia/ the unknown god in her design. 2 theory if paimon is actually good is that the unknown god did make it so no one can see paimons past or future but paimon actually fell from celestia before the unknown god could actually brainwash her or make her evil but paimon just woke up before falling somewhere where traveller could fish out but she did not drown for some reason did not die so that could mean she could survive the fall from celestia she only remembers falling into a whirlpool and some of the important laws of teyvat for some reason. I’m no lore expert so you can correct me if I’m wrong but, at least we know that paimons emergency food.

Another thing that might suggest paimon is faking mempry loss from irminsul - when scaramouche gained his memory back from nahida, and started acting emo again paimon says something like "oh he's back to being his old mean self again" which would imply paimon is familiar with scaras old personality before erasing the memory but how is that possible because we only told her that he used to be a bad guy not what his personality was like... HOWEVER we also have to consider paimons personality as a whole, the primordial one sent out various nails on the earth which kiIIed many people and they also cursed seelies, the godess of flowers told king deshret - "seek not the master of the 4 shades" but paimon dosent seem like skmeone who would do any of those things to me, of shes faking her entire personality 24/7 shes doing a really good job

Surely a fairy who seems to be the last of her kind, which is equally as weird, and can fly shouldn’t be drowning unless they were put in that position in the war in Khaenr’ia which is unlikely since I doubt someone can drown for 500 years, she could’ve had a fight with the second coming which would only be possible depending on when they fought since again no one can drown for hundreds of years or paimon purposely started “drowning” to get the travellers attention.

I've been in the psychology field for many years now, this might seem irrevelant as of now but if there's one thing I've noticed from analayzing the character most of them use very natural responses and pure human psychology which came as a shocker considering it's just a simple game. Due to this and the theories I've analayzed Paimon a lot and from all I know, she's a good person at heart hiding a dark secret which is for benefits. Kind of like Furina. She kept a secret only for a benefit paimons doing the same but her innocence and goodness is real. It's an odd combo but I feel like shes using her innocence as a coping methos because that's how she wants to be. And she can't keep secrets except the one shes hiding its a very weird combo but thats the most ive come up with ngl (and yes i accidnetally spoile dmyself that furina was pretending to be an archon onky for the betterment of the world by accidnet ;-;) PS. more like paimon has lost her memories and knows a dark truth which shes hiding from herself shes scared to uncover it and yes her innocence is her real perosnlity

If you take notice to Paimon's design, its basically the pillars in the loading screen. And as we know, the loading screen is supposedly Celestia. Although we cannot tell what Paimon is exactly until they reveal her, we know that she is somewhat related to Celestia.

the primordial one would also basically be the god of the archons so the same design on her boots shows up on the statues at a specific level (when kazuha was talking about the stars he would also be including traveler as they were a shooting star when they came to teyvat) and i think it could be possible that something couldve happened to her wings so she got a scarf to represent those wings especially because the pieces coming off are shaped the same as the wings just facing the same direction

ive been trying to find paimons dialogue when she explained why shes in the water that has something to do with an accident when the traveler fished her, so yah shes not in the water for thousands of years. that dialogue was so short and im not paying attention when it appeared. you may want to search that :) . one thing ive learned in my years of playing different games... even if the connections looks convincing we will never know until its known. but this theories are entertaining, keep it up.

I just into genshin a week ago, right now I just finished all Mondstadt and is journeying to Liyue. Although I'm yet to fully see the entirety of the game could offer, but it seems during the entire journey, and specifically during conversations, she seems very passive, and is "observing" what the traveler and other characters would say or do. I know she always talks, she jokes, but that's it. She does not try to suggest things, she gives the traveler the freedom of choice. I don't know if this all coincidence but seems paimon is just observing our journey from the very start.

If paimon truly primodial one who has spent all her power to fight and save humanity, that means she guide traveller to learn about the world she create to make him the next ruler. Maybe the reason why she always go along with traveller's decission and observe because she expect the traveller to become better ruler by learn about teyvat's situation themself. But tbh, it's unclear if the 2nd who came currently fill the throne or the throne is vacant right now. I can't wait for the devs to fully reveal paimon's true identity, but I doubt it'll be soon, maybe near the conclusion it will be you and paimon vs your twin? Who knows and I am so excited for what the game could offer. Although some parts of the story felt rushed, I think what separates genshin with others is its ability to fully hook you to its narrative with and eagerness of what will happen next. In the bit where you talk about Paimon's power, you forgot to add that after the Traveler gets Dendro power, Paimon is also imbued with it. In the Archon Quest of the dream loop samsara, Nahida says that only those blessed with the power of Dendro can retain memories and knowledge from one dream cycle to the next.

Paimon may not be faking the memory loss. Guoba lost most of his memories as well as his powers when he shrunk. Same thing with Nahida (in a way) she had no memories or knowledge of Rukkhadevata when she was created, she was like a human child.

I support that theory, but i can give my opinion which is, what if paimon aka "The primordial one" actually won against the second who came (i suspect its nibelung the dragon king who they didnt recongnize and assumed he was a decender) but the cost of winning was turning small and disapeared, after that the sustainer which probably is one of the shades assumed comand of celestia and made all of the decisions until the primordial appeared
