It's possible Denal and Kano served in the same squad at one point, and by the time we see them they're the last survivors working as squad leaders. The fact they have nearly the same face markings implies to me they were part of a unit at some point that used face markings to identify themselves in battle, like how Fives and Echo had pretty similar patterns on their ARC trooper armor.

In a force vision scene Anakin and Ahsoka relive a battle in the Clone Wars that definitely took place during the battle of Ryloth due to twi’leks charging into battle with clone troopers in phase 1 armor.

@@lolcarloz That makes no sense as a counter argument. Fives, Echo, Kix, Jesse, and Rex are all shown as having armor exactly as shiny as Denal's, and Rex is quite literally a veteran of the FIRST battle of the war. Clones DID clean their armor... they took _great pride_ in their armor actually.. Not only is it just kind of a weak argument to say "well... maybe he didn't WANT to clean his armor" - but it's literally antithetical to the personality of the clones. Just because they make fun of "shinies" for their brand new armor doesn't mean they didn't take care of their own, armor can still get scuffs and scratches in battle without having to smell like a Bantha barn because the trooper wearing it hasn't washed in 6 weeks.
