I loved learning about St. Catherine of Sienna so much. My departed mother was named Mary Catherine but went by Cathie - and was a champion for the Lord and a nurse! I especially loved the portion of battling with satan. Yes he tries to put us down (and the Lord lifts us up in His mercy) and conversely when the evil one tells us we are better than we are - we can rest in our humility. In all things - God is first so the devil will forever be powerless and false. Thank you!!! 🙏

I was named after St Catherine of Siena! I went to visit her home and the church she had her ecstasies in. Her head is there as a relic. I bought a rosary at the bookstore and as I was chatting with the cashier the priest walked in and blessed my rosary! So special!

A special Saint indeed to my 3 daughters and myself. We belonged to the Parish of St. Catherine of Siena in Reseda, California where my daughters attended elementary school and I was a primary teacher. Never before had I experienced the charity of The Body of Christ during the darkest of times with the deaths of my brother and father. The Priests, the teachers and the congregation exemplified the love of God that St. Catherine of Siena lived during her lifetime. 🙏🏻

Very beautiful presentation for the Feast of St Catherine of Siena, Virgin and Doctor of the Church. Well done Dr. Gray and Dr. Klein, and as a lay Dominican, very grateful for the props given to the Order! Catherine's courage and zeal and just enflamedness for the Lord is amazing. Thank you so much for this episode on this great saint. We named our daughter Siena Catherine, a special saint for our times. She was baptized on her feast day, April 30. I note you referred to April 15 as her feast? I assume this is one of the innovations of the new church.

Beautiful discussion and I thank you both. I loved your discussion on being washed in the blood of Christ. In confession we are washed in the blood if Jesus as well as in the reception of the Holy Eucharist. So Our Blessed Lord gives is numerous washings, beginning at baptism, confession, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Who could have ever imagined that God Himself would take so much care to make us able to stand before Him clothed in His mercy. It is beyond comprehension and all we can do is offer our little selves to Him in return. People who do not yet know the beauty of the Lord and His love, say that God is a figment of a needy imagination. No one would ever conceive of a god like our God. No one! A God who makes himself so small could only be mercy and love, said St. Therese of Liseaux. All the pagan so called gods are totally unlike our God who shares in our humanity so we can share in His Divinity. May His name be praised forever!❤

The prayer of the righteous will be heard by God. It is like asking your pastor to pray for you. Saints are living and in communion with God. Therefore, asking to pray for you is like asking someone on earth to pray for you. :)

Hundreds of years before we had the productive capability of modern technology, her father was able to support his large family, even with the mother staying home and not in the workforce. Why does that seem like an impossibility today despite our immensely greater productive capabilities? Serious study needs to be made here. Is the problem government taxation? Is the problem government regulations? We really need to find out why it is harder to support a family now than it was 400 years ago.

I agree. Why are they putting their babies into the arms of daycare workers today? They need the love and attention of their mothers.

They have no closet full of clothes, no cabinet full of shoes, no bag showcase and nothing has signature on it, no water bills, electric bill, gas bill,no cable tv, no telephone bills, no internet bills, they grow their foods and don't buy it processed, they sew their clothes by themselves and no labels to triple the cost, their homes are naturally heated by a wood burning fireplace, etc etc. If the parents are farmers, they need a lot of hands to ran a farm, thus they tend to have many children then. Life was simple but tough.

We are raising 7 children. Most of the time I stayed home with our babies/ children. I tried working part time a couple of times. Each time was a disaster. My husband is an electrician and we lived very simply. No cable, no eating out. We have always been blessed with hand me downs from friends. In all transparency, our parents helped us financially from time to time. There have definitely been stressful times. But we are dedicated to our family and try hard to live simply with love and prayer.

@@Prairieraised24 My father helped us financially with our (now adult) 11 children more than I can ever say. We also lived and still live as simply as possible. God bless you and your family!

St Catherine’s father was a successful wool dyer. He had employees and the family had servants. The secret is that her father owned his own business. Back when small local businesses could be successful. Her father was very supportive of his daughter in her prayer life. As was her older sister.

The only Saints are the ones certified by Jesus Christ and God the Father in heaven. The Lord is about to come back soon for His church. The rapture is about to happen. Please seek Him before it's too late. Those left behind will have to die for their faith in Jesus Christ. It's not God's will that anyone perish but all repent to receive eternal life. These are the End Times. Everything written in the book of revelation will be fulfilled. Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Proverbs 8:17 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. John 14:21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Acts 2:17 17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams Joel 2:28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

🌞 Adam and Eve they both sinned, first with their action and then with their word, weak but not bad. (Let's not forget that Adam chose to trust Eve in that delicate moment) By opening a small door you can see those quotes from the Church Fathers either as a hammer of justice against wicked women or as a hard and difficult test of faith for pious women. The woman is the second gift after the Garden, and it was man himself who crowned her (imagine a veil, a female symbol of dignity, royalty and then of sanctity). With joy for God Adam tells Eve that through her man will be reborn and become immortal (Saint Joseph, Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ). When they were kicked out they immediately embraced each other again, securing and comforting each other, and the Archangel Michael prophesied their salvation (the biblical rapture from Limbo). Saint Adam and Saint Eve, parents of humanity together with Saint Joseph (the Chaste Heart) and Saint Mary (the Immaculate Heart), parents of Jesus Christ (the Sacred Heart and God Incarnate). Joseph the Counselor of Heaven and Mary the Queen of Heaven. It has always been this way for the sacred service of women in the Holy Church: the consecrated virgins and the nuns. The ultimate divine reward is to receive Mary's veil and become her handmaid.

I wanted to hear more about the Eucharist, but they didn't get around to that until over 26 minutes in the video. Otherwise, it was all mostly penance, glorifying suffering, fasting, charitable works. Penance and charitable works are important to me, but I can't see glorifying and actually seeking suffering and fasting.

The 'blood of Jesus' references from Catherine of Sienna, go straight to the heart of the Jewishness of Jesus: he is the lamb of God; sacrificed at the altar of the Jewish temple for all believers; and his death and resurrection/Easter is tied directly to the Jewish Passover--which is the celebration of Moses leading his Jewish people out of slavery in Egypt to freedom: In order to reach the Promised Land, they had to smear blood of a perfect lamb over the lentils of their doorways, so that the Angel of Death would pass over their homes and not kill their first born males...Jesus blood is a direct reference to this occurrence in Egypt, which led to the Passover religious observance...the continual 'blood of Jesus' reference from Catherine is a reference to the gift of freedom to the Jews from God (in order to keep his Covenant with them) and later through Jesus the Messiah, the gift of freedom (in the New Covenant) to all who believe in the resurrection of Christ...the eucharistic celebration mimics a Jewish Passover Seder each time we partake in the blood of Jesus (as the Holy Lamb of God)... dts/usa
