As a PJ Finn Enthusiast (Finn main), I honestly wish they just changed his aerial down special to just give the apples like it did before, being able to hold 2 at most on a cooldown. It would’ve given him so many more approach options and way to deal with so many situations he just sucks against

something else for marvin, if your opponent dodges your projectiles, and you use his neutral special to try to hit them again, it will just phase through them there should be a buff where his neutral special resets dodged projectiles so they can come in contact and just not phase through people

I think Marvin definitely is a character that rewards devotion. He’s a nuanced assassin, so I feel like he’s just gonna be a perma-niche character; like Meepo in dota 2. He’s just so different that people will only get a lot out of Meepo by being a Meepo main, not a mid main. If you want to play Meepo, you have to devote yourself to Meepo because his skills are non-transferable. Iirc, I’ve seen a couple non-official tournaments where he’s won against characters he should be pretty poor against like Wonder Woman. He could probably do with some buffs, but I still think he’s pretty good and much better than people give him credit for. It’s just that he’s playing such a different game than the rest of the cast it can be hard to recognize his strengths in sight of his obvious weaknesses. I think that, for most of the cast, he’s pretty good. But compared to top tiers he falls off. The thing is, he’s SUPPOSED to be a character that has obscenely powerful tools, but has a poor neutral game and long cooldowns on those to compensate. However, when compared to other assassins and the other top tiers, he’s actually worse at killing people than them for some reason. IMO, Marvin’s problems aren’t a Marvin problem exactly. It’s a shaggy casually killing you at 60% while having a good projectile and powerful normals and not even being that light. And a Wonder Woman simply walking through all your attacks and then mauling you to death problem. They let those characters reign supreme because they’re your standard platform fighters with a fundamental base. Marvin has weird tools that are potentially are really scary, and has a lot of projectiles which they clearly hate. They clearly tried to reign Marvin in to keep him honest, but not other characters at all. What’s the point of a “pay-off” assassin if his pay-off is worse than other heroes with less extreme kits? His tools are straight up oppressive. Flag, missiles, bubble, and his gravity manipulator are tools other characters wish they had. His ability to control space by trapping a projectile in the bubble and using the button to keep it with him as he moves around can make it really tough to jump him as you’re just gonna run into the bubble. Bubbles cooldown is low and it’s a great neutral tool, and with the right setups he can be straight up terrifying.

Best is def stripe with his anti projectile. And his huge mobility. So clearly you didn't really play stripe, any assassin can't kill you with one move. Stripe has a kill move that kills 100%, his up tilt. Could kill at 70, if someone DI, you can reverse it. If someone goes up, you can jump up air and kill him. Beside, you don't have to eat your bomb you can have the timming to hit an enemy, then your bomb explode, leading to some kills at 40 or less. He is one with the best recovery on the game and best part is you can't even stop his recovery with a projectile, his up special deny projectiles and taking his perk with the bomb definitly shows that you didn't understand stripes, you will NEVER hit the ground, never, you want different angles, but even if you hit the ground, you want to hit again with your launch to setup an air attack. And on the most part, stripe is still usefull with huge bar, cause his lauch speed is equal to his damage bar ( using down special), meaning , you can hit someone from far in the air and even leading to a kill... I don't know how you qualify "assissin", but assassin is a type of character with a huge move speed and who can move from a part of the map to another in less time than others. If you play an assassin a mage way or a tank way, sure you are bad.

Fin objectively, but I just want to complain about all the delays to Harley's attacks, like side special, you can hit her at any point upon activating it, even if you have the dodge ability attached to it, and then she hangs in the air before firing, and once fires it has extremely limited range, the only way it actually hits anyone is if the other guy isn't paying attention or gets trapped in a combo. This makes it useless as an attack, and for traversal, because you can't cancel out so you're stuck there until she shoots, and people will hit you. Then you get her down attack, which can be great, but she has a 3 second charge period that other characters can activate their attack during and out pace you. Dash attack has an even larger build up that literally every other fighter can out pace and charge you after you've already started. She's not a bad fighter, but outside of her up speacil most of her attacks do very little damage, so you're basically running around the map trying to get them to stop dodging long enough for you to pull them into a combo and hit them with the bat.

It seems like stripes retreating fair and down tilt are his good options for walling out people, with up tilt being an anti air. Apart from that, I’m not seeing how stripe’s defensive play would help much, especially when there’s no innate armor breaking move (unlike Marvin who can spam down tilt for spacing) As for 2v2’s, didn’t consider how he’d play there, but as a whole the tier list would probably be wildly different

Great objective video. I was not expecting Arya to be that high. Guess I haven't played enough Aryas. Harley on the other hand... it was therapeutic to see you lay out all the facts about her unfair moveset. The only character I truly despise fighting in the game. WW and Batman are pretty bad but Harley is disgustingly easy and rewarding for little effort. I wasn't expecting Spike to be the worst. It was nice seeing you present Marvin as a whole. That down air into neutral special combo was sick. I need to practice that one since he's my main.
