Unfortunately no matter what you like people older than you will consider you a kid until you're like 30, so just do what you love, the people who matter will accept you for who you are interests and all. Sincerely, a 29 year old who spent most of their 20s trying to be a "proper" adult only to be told they were basically a child by anyone 30+ p.s. No one really has their shit together and anyone that says they do is a liar lol.
@PhoenixInFirestadium
@PhoenixInFirestadium 8 ай бұрын
I'm 40, I can tell you to never loose your inner child, it balances out the adulting you have to do. Great thing about being an adult is, it is your own choice how you really wanna be. You just kinda have to blend out people calling you childish, they don't know anything about your life and those people mostly are those who are not bold enough to embrace the kid in them and the jealousy is talking out of them. Be brave to be who you wanna be.
@DirtDontHurt
@DirtDontHurt 5 ай бұрын
I'm 25 with 3 children and the most important thing I've learned as a mother is how to heal my inner child. My husband makes fun of me for liking Kpop and fangirling but it makes me super hype and happy. I have an entire wall of cubicles filled with sanrio, nightmare before Christmas, stitch, gloomy bear and all of the things I've loved for forever. It's SOOOO IMPORTANT to just do whatever makes you happy even if some people may deem it as childish.

I'm surprised you found D20 overwhelming, especially if you start with season 1 of Fantasy High where like half the table had never even played D&D before. Plus Brennan is more than happy to bend rules and move through stuff quickly to avoid taking up tons of time for rule lawyering. D20's A Court of Faye and Flowers is also suuuper accessable. It's almost entirely story and skill checks with very little combat. I would absolutely get where you're coming from with Critical Role, but if the complexity was really what drove you away from D20, I think you should give it another shot!
@SmartBlondeParadox
@SmartBlondeParadox Жыл бұрын
@@MenachemSchmuelTo add to this, I think Dungeons and Drag Queens is such a perfect season for someone with no experience. None of the drag queens have played really and Brennan is very loose with the rules for letting them do something cool. D20 in general though is so good for giving a base of how the rules and world of D&D work

Shayne may be a wizard, interested in magic scholastically rather than ambitious for power, but can wield great power when needed. But was too young to understand the rules so me and my friend made up our own simplified game without the dice, books ect. this comment just made me realize that i inadvertently have a lot of DM-ing experience. while growing up, my younger sibling and i were doing exactly what you described-playing hours and hours of a simplified version of dnd/rpg without the numbers and rules it’s funny, because i’ve been wanting to DM my own campaign but haven’t felt confident enough in my storytelling ability…and yet i used to do it without even questioning it 😅

Love the name change think it really encapulates the humour and vibe of the show, but really love how this podcast has allowed folks to come on and just talk passionately about what they're doing at Smosh or just what they're into at the moment.

you're all three professional performers. your charisma is very high. if it weren't, you wouldn't be good at these jobs. and you are. very good at them.

True, true. I honestly think Shayne especially has a very skewed view on it because he was acting in hollywood in his teens. The pool of charismatic peers would be vastly different from the general average.

The D&D campaign was absolutely phenomenal. I would love for you guys to continue to make these campaigns with other members of Smosh. (Damien is a great DM, especially with his imagination and capability of making different voices)

I really want to say to Damien and everyone involved with Sword AF: THANK YOU! And definitely keep ignoring those few haters. Sword AF is my favorite series of anything on KZbin.. or really anywhere right now. I have already rewatched all of the videos and it brings me so much joy whenever I see that a new episode is posted! You announced it shortly after I had just broken up with my boyfriend of 2.5 years, who was the one that introduced me to DnD and tabletop roleplaying games. I knew I really wanted to stay involved and eventually play again, but I didn't know how to make it my own thing apart from him. I have been a fan of Smosh for years, so the creation of a campaign with a cast I know and love was just what I needed. You guys helped me reclaim this as one of my own interests, and you gave me a little corner of the internet and of the DnD world where I feel completely comfortable and safe (and not like I need to spend hundreds of hours to try to catch up on a campaign or grow my knowledge first). So thank you for creating such a wonderful series that has brought me and many others so many much-needed laughs. I can't wait for weekly uploads!!

I'm really loving the D&D series and hope there are more seasons to come. My brothers play and have invited me to join, but I've been too afraid of trying because it sounds so complicated. Getting to watch you guys play makes it feel less intimidating and you're all so funny. You guys playing is my first introduction to seeing a full campaign and it makes me want to play. Thank you for opening that door for me ❤

Damien was such a perfect DM for this group. Every DM runs the table differently. While there is a rule book, but there really is no "right or wrong" way to use it, you can bend and change rules however you see fit as long as everyone is on the same page. Damien recognized that the players' biggest strength was improv, and letting them lean into that really made the game. Too many DMs scare away new players by shutting down their ideas each turn, choosing to ruin the fun just to keep it "correct". I understand needing structure, but sometimes you gotta let the flow dictate the session, and Damien adapted to all four of them very well.
