@J Thorsson Sleep paralysis is a pretty widely accepted phenomenon dude. I'm not saying for sure that your experience was just a hallucination due to sleep paralysis, but it definitely has a lot of the characteristics of a sleep paralysis episode. It sounds a lot like only episode I had, only it wasn't really scary or draining for me because the entity I saw wasn't really anything supernatural looking, just some waitress with roller skates standing in the corner of my room. Not really sure why my one sleep paralysis episode was so bizarrely not terrifying but I'm not complaining.
@drosera886 жыл бұрын
@J Thorson I never said it was proof that you were just hallucinating. For what it's worth, the period between waking and dreaming when sleep paralysis occurs could be a state where we are susceptible to supernatural phenomenon. If this is the case, then it would suggest we have some sort of sixth sense that is suppressed while awake, but active when our brains are transitioning between dreaming and waking. The brain is a mysterious organ and for all we know, we may one day discover many repressed abilities that allow us to perceive things that our five senses can't. It could even be some sort of quantum entanglement.

That’s what I was thinking. Homie has the bigger is better idea so if smiling means to be nice and comforting , a REALLY big smile MUST mean even more nice and even more comforting Afterall , I’m pretty sure like a lot of encounters don’t have bad or evil encounters. He’s not attacking people or being aggressive (besides just walking straight up to people at night which itself can be pretty aggressive depending on context and how people see it ) Maybe he just wants a friend 😀

It's more feasible that he isn't actually an extra terrestrial and just some kind of fae or leshy, as the " fairy people" are absolutely not the stereotypes that corps. Like Disney want you to believe, or that fairytale would like you to believe. The labyrinth, whether the writers or anything are aware are actually talking about one type of fae people you could fall prey to without knowing, they have their own social rules, laws, and such and breaking them can very much be your undoing if you aren't careful which is why those of us who know alot about thay kind of thing, whether they are pagen, Christian, or anything else will yell you to never "piss off the fairies" the kind in labyrinth would actually be considered either benevolent or kind vs the other crap you could fall prey to like grinning man, oftan predators try to lure their prey into a false sense of security, he obviously is either really bad at making friends, or really bad at trying to hunt. Okay, this one is messed up. In part due to the fact when I was about 5, I was asleep in bed. I woke up and saw a man standing over my bed, leering down at me with this grin which stretched cheek to cheek. I remember him wearing a suit, and hat... like the ones the MIB wore. He was also really pale, and his eyes looked like they were fixed wide open, no blinking. As he was looking at me, he tilted his head. He looked sinister, but when I think back, I believe it was more intrigue. Anyway I remember screaming which startled the man, who then ran out of my room and leapt over the banister on to the stairs. There was no sound of him hitting the stairs though. I got up and ran to the landing, looked over and saw nobody there. I told my mum and she just brushed me off, as you'd imagine any parent would. Obviously there was no trace of him. I never realised until now that there was lore about a "grinning man". But watching this gave me real chills. It was probably my runaway imagination, but yeah, I tell people about this when the subject of scary experiences comes up. I thought I'd share mine here.

Well there's a interesting fellow out here in Arizona USA thay actually exists and you don't need to have been just sleeping and oftan never do when you see this guy. Hes like grinnning man but you dont first see him or see you in your home but he will follow you there if he finds it he trues very hard to "blend in" in order to follow and watch you but he dosent if you keep staring whilst staying still he will keep changing things about his appearance to try to seem "normal" but his slow walk is like the one in it follows, and if you think of him or what you saw too much he will be whereever you've moved to or are staying within the night somehow. I know I'll be probably seeing him tonight just from even writing this down as my recollection of the memory is like leaving a text message with the area I'm located and an invitation to come as soon as possible.peopme have many bases for this phenomenon as hebisnt just isolated to Arizona he has gone by many names but certain things never change, like his behavior and the fact he always has pale face, you and your friends always see him in the distance when your alone, and he's tall and qalks slowly towards you if he's trying to follow you home or to where your staying that night. Your only hope is to get to a highly populated area as soon as possible and very brightly lit. He will stalk you from your window but I've not met many where he entered their homes and I'm lucky to have never been the type he feels welcome to enter mine or the friends houses I've stayed at who saw him even prior to meeting me

What’s weird too is that indrid cold allegedly spoke to him telepathically from outside the truck/van on the PASSENGER side, which is super creepy, I believe he said he was pulled over on the shoulder, and that whoever remained in the ship, raise the ship up while indrid spoke to him outside the truck (he saw a persons arm inside the craft, so there was someone/something inside the craft which I guess he claimed had piloted it to raise the craft up high into the air ) so maybe this is why he claimed that indrid spoke to him on the passenger side, as it would have been safer for him if vehicles drove by (and he said that several vehicles did in fact drive by) just some interesting points that I remember from listening to that radio interview a few years ago, hopefully I got them right. Though it’s online for those of you who want to listen to them yourselves. I believe there is also one from his daughter who had claimed to have seen the beings many times herself, and she stated that indrid cold had even showed up to her fathers funeral, so maybe his face isn’t allllll that crazy looking if he was able to make an appearance at a funeral. Or perhaps only she could see him? Who knows. Keep up the great work guys!

CenturianEagle Great comment. I've never seen the interview with Derenberger so I will have to check that out. I did read a lot of stuff about his experiences and transcripts of a couple of interviews where he mentioned that they described themselves as disgraced members of an alien race (or their exact words; fallen angels). I think the grinning man he saw was more human looking and many people who have apparently seen him have said that he could pass for human, but on closer inspection you can tell that something just isn't quite right. Kinda similar to MIBs. Anyway, thank you for your post :-)

Sithira Weerasinghe who are ya asking? Sorry if the question was meant for bedtime stories to answer. But to me personally I find it hard to have an opinion on that since I’ve never heard anything about it and also there’s probably nothing to really base it on, like I doubt there’s any clues and there certainly isn’t any evidence or it would be pretty well known and talked about. But yeah, apologies if you weren’t asking me, and sorry also if it sounds like I was trashing the theory or whatever, that wasn’t my intention. Plus who knows, not saying it wasn’t the case I’m just saying it’s too hard to know one way or the other

About 1984 I saw the grinning man for the first time. He was in my bedroom watching me as I woke up but I was paralyzed and I watched him until he seemed to just dissolve into the darkness just as I found that I could suddenly move again. I read in years after about "night terror" and thought it must have been that. The second time I saw "the grinning man" was during the daytime while I was awake. I was walking down a path which passed under an abandoned railway via 2 foot tunnels (one tunnel then into the open and then a second tunnel). As I entered the first short tunnel I could see right through to the other side and saw a VERY tall man standing off to one side dressed in what I would describe as a tight fitting metallic blue tracksuit. I had the oddest feeling I had seen this man before and I didn't like him so I turned around and started back up the path again and looking back I couldn't see him anymore. Until I saw this video today I never knew there was such a thing as "The grinning man"!

And I thought greys were scary...This thing is like the Slenderman and Heath Ledger's version of the Joker got together and made an Eldritch abomination love-child together. Have to say I enjoy these videos, and my hat's off to you for the excellent production quality, but I will say you pretty well scared the crap out of me with this entry. My own fault, I guess. Aliens/UFO's are a fascinating subject for me (bit of a side hobby, guess you could say I'm a skeptical believer), but I'll be the first to admit watching stuff about them can make it hard to sleep. I want to know more, but I also want clear airspace above my neighborhood and no nocturnal visitors of the unearthly kind in my house or in the woods beyond.

that last one is probably sleep paralysis.. i mean ive had some freaky cases myself. One time I awoke unable to move and heard someone walking into my room and I was unable to turn in bed to look at my door. Finally I was able to turn around and no one was there, but when I rolled back over to go to sleep, in my bed with me was a girl who was rotting, screaming at me and had white dead eyes. Then another time I awoke and again could not move and I swear I could hear my eyes thumping back in forth in my head. I was also aware I was awake and having sleep paralysis, so I was screaming at my boyfriend to please wake me up. Finally I broke free and woke up and he was still awake and I asked him, " was I yelling?" and he said, "no.. you were sleeping soundly." Then lastly I awoke and again knew I was stuck in sleep paralysis and this time I was laying on my side and sitting atop me was a giant dog and I mean like demon dog thing and it felt like it was 200 pounds and its neck was really long and bowed over my head and its muzzle was against my ear and it was screaming a human scream into my ear. I suffer from repeat sleep paralysis and have now gotten use to it.. I also suffer from exploding head syndrome a lot. That's when you are starting to fall asleep and you hear a loud bang, like a door being slammed and it wakes you up. None of it scares me anymore, I just assume I have some sort of sleep disorder or high anxiety.

That sounds scary indeed. A lot of what you mentioned are probably somewhat familiar to most everyone, only your experiences are more frequent, more vivid and with greater recall, and each episode persists for a far longer period than average. I wonder if people with this condition tend to posess a crazy sharp memory in general, and this could be a possible symptom. I could be totally off base with my hypothesis, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I've built a thesis around the prospect that maybe they're not malevolent? I mean, they're prone to showing up at abnormal spikes in paranormal activity, so maybe they're scientist researching something that doesn't happen as oftenly-- if at all on their own worlds. And with watching people whilst they're sleeping, we do that to animals we're trying to understand all the time. And to a race of star-faring extraterrestrials we'd be fairly sentient animals. I mean, they'd shown no prompt aggression to the individuals that they were observing, and they did so whilst those individuals were under high spectral-stress. That sounds like something an intellectual would do to attempt understanding that creatures environment. I mean, the activity also halted when they'd left? So, maybe they're tied to the removal, or frightening off of more harsh abnormals? Just a thought.

I had an imaginary figure in my childhood, too. Except that he was more of a running man that would run along the road as I rode in the car. There was always some limitation to this creature, too. Like he could only jump from mailbox to mailbox or he had to run along the top of fences and jump over driveways or something similar. I never "saw" this thing, I was merely aware that he was grey, lanky limbed and ran on all fours. I wasn't afraid of him, I just knew that whenever my parents drove in the car, I would be followed by this thing. Everyone I know, friends, siblings, cousins, all the young folk currently have or have had this imaginary figure follow them. I often wonder what happened to the human body to have this cultural mass effect as we evolved into modern humans from cave people.

This guy is just taking those accounts/experiences and writing them in his own style and presenting them to us in his own brilliant way. He doesn't own the copyright on what happened to these people, only the printed words he's using to describe the events. I don't believe in anything supernatural at all, but it's interesting to me that I used to sometimes imagine something very similar to this as a child. When I was in bed I would picture a tall man standing in the doorway, staring at me and grinning at me. The grin would appear to grow wider and wider, absurdly, impossibly so, rather in the manner of some optical illusion. In my mind, he was a Native American (looking back, this was perhaps influenced by the Cleveland Indians logo), or at any rate had brown skin and long hair, and large dark eyes. For some reason, I'd just lie there and think about this; even though it would freak me out, at the same time it fascinated me. I can still see very clearly the image of him in my head when I remember it.

alright look here’s my theory. i’ve watched this episode about 20 times and i love it. I think that Indrid Cold is a part of a hunting organization like the men in black and saves humans from the supernatural. the clicking noise that girl heard was some type of scanner and Indrid was hunting the mothman. probably aliens or something, but if anything i think they are here to help us and are just misunderstood. thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
