8:47: "Here's a headline you won't see from left-leaning sources" - Loury in ad for Ground News or whatever it's called. The headline is for an article exposing the fact that a top Disney exec is a major Harris donor, and Disney ons ABC news. Wrong, the NY Times had a whole article on this several days ago, with much detail about the decades long friendship between the Harris-Emhoff couple and the donor couple. @emmanuellouis87894 ай бұрын
Yeah, it is sad. Coming from a less read person makes sense but John put both feet in his mouth with some of his logic. 1. Obama had a chance to get ready to think on his feet - Ok, she was VP for 3 and a half years. The next level up for her is President. One would think that the VP would be getting ready in case he/she had to take over as President. With his logic, he is saying she isn't ready at the moment - The next very important question would be when will she be ready? If something were to happen to Biden, that means we would have a person that isn't ready to be President as President. Trump and Obama answered things when asked at the moment. Can we afford someone that isn't quick on their feet? 2. I might have my facts wrong but i believe she failed the California bar exam the first time so that is not accurate. 3. Cops kill every race not just black people - John doesn't have issues with the cops - I would imagine he lives around a lot of white folks. Guys nobody is telling the full truth just go with common sense. If common sense, isn't common for you than you have bigger issues then voting for the next president.

An educator myself, I would like for John to please reconsider this KH came out of nowhere, hasn't had a chance, and might become something line of thinking. She did NOT come out of nowhere, has had EVERY advantage, and will lead this country in the WRONG direction. As a Clintonian Democrat - Ms. Harris' lauded prosecution record is very much tethered to Biden and Clinton's 1994 Crime Bill which drove mass incarceration and shored up "the school to prison pipeline" here in California. In addition, two years ago she undermined The Freedman's Bank by changing the language in its charter. She did not come out of nowhere, and has a looooooong history of attacking the African American community ( black men in particular) ,engaging in prosecutorial misconduct, and much more for over a decade now. Not to mention the OPEN border situation and how her stint in office has deeply impacted the people of Chicago, Denver,San Diego and other sanctuary cities and border states. She has had 16 years to show who she is - she has - and we should believe her. Everything I've stated is public knowledge.

I don’t know why John felt the need to have a protracted discussion defending Kamal Harris, but most of it seemed off the mark to me. Things that he labeled as superficial criticisms are in reality important aspects of who she is as a person. Describing a person who is currently leading the race for president of the most powerful country on the planet as “a deer in headlights” and suggesting we shouldn’t criticize her for that is wild. Why would anyone run for president and be so unprepared for it that they are constantly spilling verbal diarrhea is beyond me. I certainly don’t think it’s wrong to criticize a person for being unprepared to be president, maybe it doesn’t necessarily speak to her overall intelligence, but it does speak to her qualifications and ability. As for the code switching, there isn’t a problem that she does it , just that she does it so iuanthenticly it becomes insulting. Trying to paint her as someone who grew up in black culture in America doesn’t come off as convincing either given what we know about her background. She campaigned on the back of her Indian heritage to get a spot in the senate and abandoned it all together on the national stage because she knows presenting herself as Black gets her a bigger boost than her other half.

Harris reminds me of an old Groucho line (adapting the pronoun): "She may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot, but don't let that fool you: she really *is* an idiot." Prof. McWhorter, when Harris defended defunding the police, compared ICE to the KKK and called for its abolition, bailed out indicted rioters, opposed imprisoning illegal immigrants, were those word salads because she hadn't thought about the issues? On the contrary, these are the issues she has thought most about, if she's thought about anything at all. Speaking of which, when she does the word salad on Ukraine, for instance, how the hell has she not thought more about that? She ran for freaking president in 2020, for heaven's sake.

For example, the UKs 'right wing' party is roughly aligned with a Joe Biden/ Obama type politic. Yet left wing America doesnt look at the UK as a great or even good example of where they want to be. Because... its about tribalism, teams, red vs blue. Its not about what will make things better for everyone. Super hurtful things. Super ignorant things. But I do understand, John, how you & so many Americans would hope & believe (as we Americans should!) that he would be a force for unprecedented good and create a great watershed for unity & achievement here and globally. I think he--and the fault is his--has made it clear that faith in him was a triumph of hope over reason. And yes, I honor the real estate developer who put aside his business and became president at no cost to us--donating his salary BACK to the state, someone who signs the front of paychecks, who sweats the need not just to deliver peace and prosperity for our nation (and through our nation to the world), but also sweats getting it done on time and on budget. I think the take on excitement about Kamala here is way off. People aren’t excited ‘because she’s a black woman’ or because ‘she looks like me’. They’re excited because it’s been obvious for months that Biden was going to get trounced and the debate made his decline unignorable. People are excited to try to beat Trump and this is pent up energy and excitement that is ready to come out but very hard to sincerely put behind someone such as Biden who you can only watch with excruciating anticipation for his potential slip ups. Obviously for some people there is a racial component but this doesn’t fit into the typical way these two talk about race and trying to fit it straight into that lens isn’t seeing the full picture or even the main part of the picture IMO
@Readabookfoofoo4 ай бұрын
Agreed. But it’s more complicated. It’s True that she’s “not Trump” but if it was Desantis she would be “not Desantis” - she may be lower in the polls against Desantis than Trump, but the pro Blacks would still be doing their propaganda, whipping up their social storms.

No you're right, it must be her stellar record in office.
@Jimbilbelle4 ай бұрын
@@bwhere45 Whether she has a stellar record in office is completely orthogonal to my comment. I gave an alterative besides 'it must be her stellar record in office' - that people are positive about voting in a Democrat over Donald Trump but cannot sincerely put that energy behind someone who looks like they're about to collapse. My comment was about their take on why people are excited and not about Kamala's record
@bwhere454 ай бұрын
@@Jimbilbelle yes and the alternative you gave was, at best, stretching for another reason. The left assuredly wouldn't have the same level of (feigned or real) enthusiasm if it another candidate who didn't check multiple diversity boxes. It's almost willfully ignorant to argue the contrary.

Obama had the ability to put the final nail into the racism coffin. This is why even though I did not vote for him, I was optimistic because I thought he would do just that. But rather than send that nail home, he grabbed a crowbar and opened the lid.

I know that your question is rhetorical, but for those of you who may be too young to remember, Hillary was the Kingmaker's choice in 2008 (and probably Bush in 2016 on the other side).

I'm not super plussed by the question: "Is she actually smart but she's just not good on her feet and doesn't bother prepping?" I don't want a president who has treated her political career so far like getting up in front of the class to deliver a report she didn't do. To the extent this is her approach, this is telling me that just like most of the government was on auto-pilot with Trump AND Biden, the same will continue with Harris. The only choice we get is which figure head we elect to obscure the actual levers of power.
