I like this video this is not a bad unit the price with speakers are great and you are the very first person to mention about oiling the spindle before using thank you !!!!! I like to see unboxing videos of turntables any brand and I have seen a lot of retrolife branded TT's with the same sub platter and never give proper instructions on this spindle they go to everything else ;like balancing tracking location but never ,this is important ,and you were spot on with speaker placement ,when I was younger and had my own setup in my room everything was on the same level and at certain volume levels I would get feed back ,thats why I have all my TT's above my speakers and it has worked out ,I have seen many higher models of turntables being more professional but the caharge 300,to 400 for a turntable thatr is not solid wood like this one here a lot come with the 3600 cart even rega turntable a brand thats supposed to be high end costs a lot more than these ,use a audio technica at -3600 and brand it as a high end cart it will say rega cafbon on it ,the pro-ject debut 3 I that I have is the same body plan sub platter and metal platter but it cost about 400.00 with out speakers its made in Austria not china and I got it at half the price at the time through amazon so I don't feel bad ,do you know if the anti skating is present some co. have a set antiskate for said cart was curious ,very glad I stumbled onto this channel by accident JRo also wanted gto say I enjoyed the music playing while you set up the TT excellent tunes

Just get the ATvm95e stylus under $60 better still get the goldring E3 a little bit more about 15 dollars you're right about the platter mat, really good option that's cheap glue that mat underneath the metal platter spray on adhesive make sure you do both surfaces, cutting away the center part so it sits on the outer part of the compressed ring. And for a platter mat use Blu tach making sure that the height is correct do this by finding something hard try three to five millimeters thick, place it near the edge of the platter and carefully placing the stylist down on this surface that is smooth flat and straight. Making sure the cartridge is set at it's correct weight this would be between the two given weights for the cartridge, for instance 35g and 25g so 30 grams, then get down and look along the surface towards the spindle underneath the cartridge the cartridge bottom Edge should look parallel and not high or lower one end, this will tell you the correct height of the mat needed, you can place a pieces of newspaper underneath the mat if you find your mat is two thin, anyway roll the balls of blu tack to this thickness making sure they are all the same thickness making them slightly a little bit bigger a millimeter could be a better approach, and pressing down with a complete flat record to the given height, make sure you put some thin toilet paper one layer sheet on top of each blu tack ball so it doesn't stick to the record, make the blu tach into the Star of David and where you have the long joining lines put another piece of blu tach in these areas, so you have your three points half star and another three in the centre of each line so that's 6 per triangle 12 altogether. Make the Star at 11 and a half inches to the edge. You might want to glue a strip of that felt mat to the inside edge of the Inner platter the opposite side to where the belt is running on that will dampen it down.

As it comes out of the box, should I use line or phono?

I bought this one. It is brand new as of about 7 hours ago. I am having issues with it already. I can get it to start playing but then it randomly stops spinning at erratic intervals. I don't have a pattern for how it stops but it seems to be right around 2 minutes, sometimes more sometimes less. Do I cut my losses and return it? Any help would be appreciated.

I would return it for sure. Not worth keeping a unit that doesn’t work.
