Mickey is Disney’s cartoon mascot, but Yen Sid is Disney’s video game mascot.

I feel that Square Enix and Corey Burton helped to make Yen Sid a likeable character. Square Enix reintroduced him to the world...sort of. And Corey Burton found the right kind of preformance to make him that kind of character who is a strong wizard, but catch him on a good day and he might actually make a joke for his own amusement. And of course he uses his powers for good rathen than evil.

Kingdom hearts and fantasia are quite connected to each other
@hunterlawrence35737 ай бұрын
I saw Fantasia as a kid, but I mainly knew Yen Sid from Disney Magical World. That game was a bit like a Kingdom Hearts Lite in a couple ways. I always thought it was so cool how he chose to educate children on the Isle of the Lost despite knowing they were being raised to be evil. It shows he really does take his role as a mentor very seriously.

The way Mickey's apprenticeship seems to me is that it goes in this order: Mickey starts life as an ordinary Toon actor. Then Epic Mickey happens and he stumbles on Yen Sid's workshop, EVENTUALLY becoming his apprentice. (Yen Sid probably reasoned that the Mouse would keep getting into trouble, so, much like Scrooge teaching his nephews how to get OUT of the trouble they get into, Yen Sid takes on Mickey to minimize the overall risk.) This includes keyblade training. Then, that mapmaker sequence from the park leads Yen Sid to consider Mickey a full-fledged master sorcerer in his own right. Then, through Kingdom Hearts Mickey eventually becomes a keyblade master as well, eventually gaining time powers and being able to insert details like his apprenticeship to Yen Sid into Fantasia.

So I have to bring this up: Disney Learning isnt the only place Yen Sid shows up in this sort of scenario. He makes (kinda?) consistent appearances in Disney Leaning Adventure, were we don't see in him perse, but he lends the viewer his hat and claims you as the Sorcerer's Apprentice for the day, and helps you learn counting and letters.
@WillScarlet163 ай бұрын
I always think he's secretly impressed with Mickey at the end of Sorcerer's Apprentice - he gives him that sly little smile that says "You've got guts, kid." Then he gives him a little whack to say "Don't push your luck."

Yen Sid is amazing! I love the mystery and ambiguity that surrounds him. That's one of the things that makes him cool. Also, the fact that he is Walt Disney and how he created a lot of these worlds. Kind of cool when you think about it. Yet it makes me wonder, who gave the Yen Sid his magic? Was he always born with magical powers or was it granted to him?
