Hi, I'm currently a campus student and I can completely relate to the kind of discrimination Ebby went through. Due to my parents line of work, we've been traveling around but at a point decided to come back to Kenya and settle. It was a difficult phase for my siblings and I trying to fit in because Kenyans just DONT embrace something different. I've been called a liar and been told I'm living a fantasy for thinking beyond what I see. It's not an easy process and especially when both students and teachers feel threatened by your fluency in English. I've been bullied almost all my life because I don't speak like everyone. Upto date, I rarely ever speak in English to a fellow Kenyan because I don't want to be told I'm faking. I learnt to speak Swahili at a late age but it's now my common means of communication. We need to stop narrow-minded thinking guys! Yes, I'm a Kenyan! But that doesn't mean I have to speak like you.

I am a mother who lost 2 boys in 2020 on the 17th of May. Aged 19 and 23. They died from food poison and l also had eaten the food but survived. I was in a comma for 2 full weeks. But my sister u have contributed to my healing because loosing a child cannot be compared to anything in the world. The only way l have consoled myself with is my faith. Jehovah says throw all your burdens to me and that is what l have done. l have given all to him to deal with the case and l am not looking at seeing the justice because his ways are just. Jehovah will do it for u let his will be done. I do feel your pain a lot. I am on BP medication. But l promise u that God loves u so so much. To those who are involved God will deal with them.

I'm watching this my eyes clouded with tears...there's no cruel, devastating, difficult, disgusting, ugly moment than losing a child. I experienced it on a dark Wednesday 10th November 2021, when my young boy aged 1 year and three weeks closed his eyes forever as I watched him in a cold hospital bed, in a government hospital. Doctors said he must have been poisoned but I left it to God. I couldn't know who did it as I had left for work that morning. I watched as the oximeter stopped recording, and he breathed his last before my very eyes. I called him a million times, Ian Ian Ian Ian my love, why have you left me? He didn't answer me..he lay lifeless on a hospital bed..😭😭😭😭😭😭It hit me hard that I scream whenever the word death is mentioned. May God continue strengthening all the mothers with their angels in heaven.

This story took me back many years ago when I joined form one. There was this English teacher who one day came to class and asked us to introduce ourselves and where we came from. One boy (Freddie) said he's from Nairobi and I can remember even as I type this how the teacher hit him at the back telling him "Nairobi si ya mtu." I have never forgotten that incident and it happened more than 20 years ago. May the soul of your daughter rest in peace.

I feel heartbroken being English teacher,, someday we will fix our country and get teachers who are parents, take these learners as their own and help them grow into strong individuals.. we got goons in the name of teachers who are just in this profession for what they get paid but don't have passion in teaching.. I pray for healing anyone who has been harassed and demoralized by a teacher

I lost my young sister when she was in high school. The teachers complained she wasn't sick and she was pretending. After picking her, she collapsed in the second day and was admitted in icu for nearly a month. I used to visit like three times a day but she wasn't talking, I had never imagined a family member dying and so this thought was never there until one night the doctor said she passed on and she was transferred to the morgue. I struggled with the idea of believing she was dead but I couldn't work. I kept going to the hospital every day and even paying to see her body until her burial. I hated that hospital, that school and everyone who didn't treat me well when she was in hospital. Even after five years, I have never moved on from that pain. Truly, I understand the feeling of this mum and I can as well say that secondary boarding schools in Kenya may not understand what students go through.
