@Flatlanderexpress Jim Pattison did some dealings but that's not there big investors. Lot more people that worked for Monettes say its forgein coming from there investment friends and comany. Scott Moe has turned a blind eye cause of the so called donations (wink wink) they have gotten..

This is actually good news. Land is Canada’s most valuable resource and needs to be protected, financially and through legislation. As long as the land and everything below and above it remains ours we are protected from all the political instability around us.

Isn’t a strait answer of who owns the land available ?. Is the statistic not available or is it totally unreliable .

Some Chinese owners "live" in Canada, especially BC, but where there money comes from we dont know. Some are mom and pop investors with an interest in agriculture

Andjelic does want very high rents. Beyond what is typically a farm market rent or what would be considered fair Retiring farmers should keep and rent out there land so they can take a share in the appreciation of land value, and then rent it to current farmers to help there business I liked what Donna said

Land and equipment has gotten so out of hand in price there’s going to a huge correction the commodity price can’t support a farm if you put the cost of equipment alone into $/acre. Not sure how these guys are pulling it off. But it’s going to be a huge contributor to the economic downturn I think

My dad bought farmland while he was still in high school, at no time in my life has it been possible to buy land or become a farmer from scratch, Canada has lost opportunity for new farmers. Cant buy land? try to buy a house lol.

I disagree that foreign ownership is not a thing I find it funny your guest says it’s hard to track and it doesn’t exist seems to be contradicting. When you have giant corporate farms buying land for more than what the land itself can pay you have to wonder how they are sustaining this practice. It may not be the case that a Chinese nationalist company is actively buying farm land. But what I can tell you is there are foreign investors that are heavily financing these giant farms. The reason nobody is looking into it is because there’s a lot of money changing hands and lots of people are making serious money by turning a blind eye. Sask farm land prices have been raising every year for a decade with no signs of slowing down. There are many giant farms that didn’t exist 10years ago but are now growing to 50,000acres and much higher. I’ve heard it all they are just better at doing business, they are more efficient, some of that may be true but sorry to say they would have to be 100% more efficient then any other farm and I just don’t see it. FCC and the banks probably have some financing with these giants but the rest comes from somewhere else. If you don’t believe me fine. But read about KF Farms, purely Canada, HTC pure energy inc, kings land energy, above foods. One name pops up in all those companies. Maybe it’s just one successful man with the heart for business……but I’ve know this man for years and if you believe that you’re sadly mistaken
