Given that Zeus already shapeshifted as the Gravedigger, I thought it was Zeus trying to frame him since at this point he was consumed by fear and was obsessed with the death of Kratos.

I have a theory on this. In Greek mythology chaos is a primordial being, in ascension gaia says that the primordial created the very earth itself and so to me it would make sense that ares found a large chunk of chaos somewhere in the world and used a part of chaos' body to make the actual metal and such for the blades of chaos. So technically if the earth itself was made of primordial beings then it would make sense that they and the primordial fire would allow him to still use magic. I'm not sure though let me know if any of you have a different theory about it.

Atreus and Freya were referring to Kratos' magic (Poseidon's Rage, Zeus's Fury, Hades' Army, etc) They weren't referring to weapons, besides the Blades of Chaos, the Blade of Olympus was still working after Zeus' death. It's not just because of the primordial fire, the Blades probably still have Ares's fire inside them, or else Brok would never have said that Kratos "Stinks of foreign magic" when he retrieved the blades, primordial fire is common in every mythology. Also, I would take what Freya and Atreus say with a grain of salt, since Greek magic works in a different way from Norse magic and they don't know it at all.

The idea that this was Zeus’s doing is plausible, maybe this could be Zeus in disguise as well or perhaps a doing of the fates, they told kratos that it is not his destiny to kill Zeus so they perhaps could have tried to make Olympus unite agains kratos

My theory is that Zeus is the assassin in the same way he's the grave digger, and he suffers from split personality disorder. Grave digger comes in, like the assassin when the evils have take over Zeus and the other gods. Yet they were still sorts helpful to us before we full on declared war. This goes back to when Zeus was a boy. Gaia raised him and even she said Zeus was justified in going after Chronos just not the rest of them, failing to see that their inaction against what Chronos was doing to his children is as much a crime as his and why Zeus would harbor a grudge. Zantamonica did say they used the real mythos and what could be applicable to Kratos was twisted to fit. This means that all Greek mythos was applicable and Zeus is described as brutish, beast in his youth and a wise God later in life after he ate one of his wife's wo was pregnant at the time with twins, a son and Athena. This is a way of showing a split in personality. The distant youth Zeus who wanted to help his family and free everyone firm the tyranny of the titans would still be an aspect somewhere in there, though forgotten. Given Zeus was infested already by the evils from the box and that small somewhat still kind aspect, self serving sure but still having some good in there became the grave digger to help Kratos. And the 3rd grave takes tge meaning that it was for himself, the last stone to solidify Jratos crown because like his father before him he too needed to be stopped for the good of all with all that evil inside him. Then the Assassin was the brutish aspect of Zeus, who didn't think things through but needed a way out of his own words to fight and take down the threat of the destined son. Most of himselfnwould be taken over by following his edict and the Assassin gave him the golden opportunity he needed to go against another God against his own edict. Split personalities are made as aspects to help and protect the original. Some however could be harmful to the total and some could genuinely mess up. It's a part if the condition, aspects are created through trauma to deal withthe issues at hand, basically, and block them from the conscious of the original in some way. Can't think of anything more traumatic than being eaten by your own father who'd already eaten all the other siblings. The death of Hermes son is just an unfortunate add on that he could use to tach on if his idea fell flat. And the evils poisoning Zeus made it easuer to split off the personalities so he would not know at all what the was doing

Just something I was thinking of during the barfight in Asgard Ingrid and myolnir are fighting the entire time we know Ingrid has sentience and can fight by herself but how was myolnir fighting her Thor was both drunk af and preoccupied with the barfight so I don't think he's controlling it and when he does it goes to his hand for a quick melon smash but immediately after it goes back to fighting Ingrid and in terms of the barfight both atreus and Thor are on the same side so Ingrid has no reason to attack myolnir and vise versa all this was to say what if myolnir is sentient as well and it's just extremely loyal to the aesir or Odin's direct bloodline and maybe it has a grudge against Ingrid Side note if atreus dosent find Ingrid and learn how to Wield her like freyr in his game I don't know what I will do his combat is cool but he needs a melee weapon apart from smashing his bow against enemies it can't be good for it

I believe it was Hermes who murdered Argos. Mythology and speed aside, if you look at the art for Kratos chasing the assassin (3:55) you see that the assassin has white glowing hair, same as Hermes's design in God of War 3. I know this was art commissioned for the video but I stilll think this was an interesting move done by the artist. Also that theory of Hermes killing Ceryx seems very dark, perfect for the god of war universe. I wouldn't think Hermes wanting/not caring about his son's death is a stretch, since many of Zeus' children die in the series and he never expresses sadness over their deaths. The only thing that comes close to it is when he says to Kratos in GoW 2 "I will not let Ares' fate be my own", which is just him thinking of himself and not wanting to die.
@nicholaspoling96912 жыл бұрын
I am and am not a fan of the assassin being Hermes I am in that it answers a question and adds detail to a story, without making a mobile game/outside media integral to the plot I am not a fan due to it cutting off an avenue for future stories, if there will be any, the "yes and," method of creating jumping off points and connections. "Kratos killed Zeus..." "Yes and what happened to Artemis, Dionysus and Apollo?" With the assassin I would tie it to another mythology.

Cannot verify the canonicity of this but: A year and a half ago I was a contract recruiter for SM studios. We had a group meeting with a bunch of the senior devs and we had a Q&A session. We all got to submit questions to be answered by the devs and I actually asked this question. As GOW: Betrayal was actually one of the 1st GOW games I ever played. The producers flippantly answered "Atreus" and moved on. This was in 2020-ish, so it could have been a joke response or a one-off answer. But it is an answer. I'm not going to pretend like I have many details. Just a off the cuff answer in an informal dev meet&greet. Hope this helps, and hope a dev comes by to vindicate me so I don't look like Im lying for clout.

EDIT: I think Betrayal is before Ghost of Sparta (not after like the Video said, (also what does the Betrayal in the Title is supposed to represent? Who Betrayed Who?) ...---...--- Maybe the Assassin is Deimos He is different because 1)It's the Graphic Limitation & 2)It's uses an Old Design Why doesn't he recognises Kratos? Maybe for the same reason he didn't when Kratos tried to save him, or maybe because he was under a spell (as he was in a mission) What was the motive? Despite Zeus was already under the influence of the Darkness, I think that was still resisting it and had yet to want to kill Kratos In my opinion everything Zeus did against Kratos was all after Betrayal (so the Assassin is what triggered Zeus, maybe whoever send the Assassin was after this, so IMO the real question should be: Who send the Assassin? & Why?) Everything else was directly or indirectly caused by the Other Gods Daimos was kindnapped? It was an alliance between Ares, Hades & Athena that did it Kratos' Mother disappeared & then cursed? It's possible that Zeus did it to protect her from Hera and then the Curse could have been added after GoW1 (as Zeus was already under the influence of Darkness) and Ghost of Sparta happens after Betrayal Kratos being turned into a servant of Olympus, tricked into killing his Family and Tormented by Nightmares? ALL Ares' Fault Note: I am not saying that Zeus was Good (He did a lot of Bad Things, and he is pretty much based on the Original One that can't keep it in his pants) and even without Betrayal he would have still tried to kill Kratos (because He couldn't escape The Darkness' Influence) but it was the Darkness that turned him into the Evil Mad God of God Of War 3 This is why I would like a Remake GoW3 with his Cut Dialogue as a Secret Easter Egg, maybe even expand upon it (by making Kratos kill him in a different way) EDIT 2: Both Hercules and Hera mentioned that Zeus was protective and more attentive of Kratos than of others of his Childrens I think it's because Zeus tried to be different from his Father (Chronos that literally ate his own childrens alive) but when Damios was born with the Marks (as of the Propecy about the destruction of Olympus) Zeus was forced to abbandon him so that the Other Gods could appease their fear, so he gave more attention to Kratos because of it (maybe originally he didn't even know Damios was kept alive by Ares that tried to turn him into a Weapon against Mount.Olympus, as we know from Ares' Soul Easter Egg that Ares did keep Secrets not even Zeus knew about) but then why didn't he stop Ares into turning Kratos into his own servant? Maybe he knew if he did then more attention would have fallen on Kratos?
