Theres also a samurai version. Boxing version. And a western shootout version. And one no one talks about: tekken 3 where your movements are the buttons - it was horrible.

Oh I have 1cc'd this game many times while finding all 15 secrets. 20 years later, I bet I could still do it if I happen to locate one. My real holy Grail game though is the Sega Star Wars Arcade game from 1994. That one gives the option for two players to cooperatively fly one Y-wing. It was ported to the Sega 32X.

@@alexdonovancole As a Sega Dreamcast lover and day one owner I never understood why this game never came out for the console. Especially when they released some wild stuff for it like Seaman and those fishing games with the controller.
@alexdonovancole17 күн бұрын
@@ezcompane It may have to do with the fact that it’s pretty short even for an arcade game. The appeal of the game was “immersing” you in Star Wars not necessarily providing hours of gameplay that could be repeated indefinitely. What’s funny is that there is cut content - there are Obi Wan lines that heavily imply that there was going to be an additional lightsaber bonus stage based on the scene in Star Wars 77 where Luke trains on the Millennium Falcon. This is just conjecture though.

They had a deluxe cabinet in my local arcade. It had a VERY loud sound system next to your ears, and you basically sat on top of a huge subwoofer. It came out in 1998 and used Sega's most powerful arcade board at that time, Model 3. It was very expensive hardware, no home console would be more powerful until the HD generation in 2005. It blew away what PS2 or even Xbox could do years before they launched. Incredibly smooth graphics, fantastic audio with TIE fighters screaming past your head, light sabers buzzing. Amazing game.

Completed 1CC, all secret actions performed (which is in part what you need to do for top rank) and gained no1 on leader board. Little secrets such as turning off your lightsaber for a secret voice line from the Emperor also. However never realised for YEARS what light and dark side did - apparently light side gives you more defence when hit and dark side gives you faster auto fire, this is mitigated however because I used to press both buttons rapidly to wreck everything anyway lol. Fun fact - This was also the first and only Star Wars game for the longest time that allowed 1:1 lightsaber control. The closest the Wii ever got was with games like Red Steel!
@WesDoesGames18 күн бұрын
How did you find out about the light and dark side advantages? I never would have noticed that. Also I loved Red Steel. It was my first Wii game and no other Wii game came close to the coolness

I salute you for making a video recounting this 10/10 game, Wes. It, in fact, is my favorite single player campaign for any game of the classic Star Wars trilogy, beating out Rogue Squadron, Battlefront 2 2005, Jedi Outcast, etc. I look forward to being able to fire away in it once again someday. :^) Keep up the great work, and take care.

One of my most recent amazing memories was finding one at a bar/arcade called Baxters in a place called Chapel Hill North Carolina. It was on the way to seeing Iron Maiden in Charlotte back in November and it was so fun to play. They also had the original soul calibur, Mortal kombat 4, street fighter 2, some light gun games and even a gauntlet game.

Sega are never given the respect they fully deserve back in the Master System up to Saturn era, far too much Nintendo bias (probably due to America sales). They were the utter kings of arcade with only Namco being second place.

4:35 The reason we don’t have a “decent lightsaber video game” where you are a Jedi “fighting a Sith Lord” is because you’d have to feel the resistance of the enemies lightsaber. You can’t properly duel with the average consumer hardware (including VR) for that reason. It’s a bummer but maybe someday.

I'm so glad that the emulation for this game is finally up to spec. The last time I tried it it was horrendous. Now I have to pick up a joystick
@WesDoesGames20 күн бұрын
Well not to be the bearer of bad news but it wasnt running 100% for me. I had to stitch multiple takes together because the graphics would randomly glitch out. It was still playable, but not exactly ideal. I was really dying to play this though and it did the job fairly well. Still, nothing beats the actual cabinet
@CreepyUncleIdjit19 күн бұрын
@WesDoesGames Alas! I guess it's not a priority for the emulation scene. I consideref just buying the cabinet, but it had a $5,000 price tag the last time I checked. To be fair that was 2015, I have no idea how much it would go for now.

It's probably too short to be considered for a full-on game. Maybe if it was included as part of an arcade collection that'd be nice
@AndrewTime910618 күн бұрын
Pretty sure it was actually considered as an add-on for what would have been the Wii collection for the Rogue Squadron games. So, too small for its own thing, but would have been a neat extra on that game

I may have missed it in the video but what emulator are you using? I've been playing it in Supermodel for the last four years but the graphical issues I've had on that emu kinda suck. Your footage doesn't have any of those artifacts, I'd love to know what you're using
@WesDoesGames20 күн бұрын
Also Supermodel. I don't know if theres any other option? The footage was spliced together from multiple takes. Plenty of times the video frame would just shift for no reason and be weird. This game definitely isn't all the way there yet for emulation. Someday I'd love to buy an actual cabinet for this
@Winter_33720 күн бұрын
@WesDoesGames oh, that client you're using is Supermodel? Mine must be an ancient version then, I'll have to upgrade. Mine needs to be launched from the command line, it didn't have a stable frontend build back in 2020 when I got it. Thank you! I'm excited that the emulator got better!
