My one story about Monster In My Pocket is that I played it for hours while my mom was trying to tape her soap operas one summer day. So when she got home from work and played the VHS, instead of All My Children, she got to watch a 9 year old's "Let's Play" of Monster In My Pocket.

When I was a kid I rented Karnov and accidentally turned the volume up really loud and I had no idea how to turn it back down for fear of accidentally turning it up even louder. Because of this the music for Karnov and Karnov himself have been forever scarred into my brain and memory for eternity. There really is no point to this story but how often do I get to tell people that Karnov gave me terrible nightmares as a small child.

Hey look, it's Karnov and Green Fish Guy With Bag And Hand Down His Pants from Dance Dance Karnov. Monster In My Pocket was my JAM as a kid, I even had a bunch of the toys. Hearing these sound effects and seeing the little dudes running around is lighting my brain on fire, old memories flaring up like spraying lighter fluid on a flame. Seem to remember there being an experience/level up system too. My friend and I used to coordinate who would get which kills where.. was it for extra lives? I don't remember... I was _always_ the frankenstein.

I definitely played some Sesame Street 123 back in the day, because I remembered the Rare (Tradewest as I remembered it, Battletoads-like) DNA in there. The super-weird bass drones for the UFO, the music that's mostly kiddish until it suddenly hits you with a weird chord or a neat texture, how there's no reason why a town's just a silhouette until the aliens restore it, the Anticipation-like neat color palettes in those shape games... I knew it was basic as a kid, but unlike ABC, it had this very odd surreal feeling to it.

I had fond memories of Sesame Street ABC and 123 growing up, but man they were bare-bones, weren't they? Some of the animations - particularly the running - in Monsters in my Pocket were really well done, especially for the NES. I also liked how Master Chief apparently did a cameo as a baddie in Totally Rad (2:02:45), long before Halo was even a concept.

A lot of old Disney console games are surprisingly good. Not great, but good. Remember playing a good amount of Mousecapade and enjoying it. I heard Nightshade get mentioned. That's a very weird and interesting and ambitious game, however the game over screen is actually a puzzle you can escape from and one that's really fiddly to solve and you might not even realise you can do that. So the game is quite easily dismissible due to that and I'm worried it'll get swift justice.
