No. Not incompetence -- Laziness and Lack of regard to the weaker and less fortunate portion of society. Their names and line of work were on the line so instead of searching for the ACTUAL murderer who could still potentially harm the citizens, they CHOSE to starve, beat, and let an innocent disabled man make a false confession to save their asses and get all of this donne QUICKLY. Reminds me of the case of Christine Lee Silawan from Cebu, which I still find weird.
@amusedtofu3 жыл бұрын
@@andreahl3494 Actually it's still incompetence. Even right now South Korean police is infamous for that despite how advance criminology has come by. For this case they already admitted they are scared of the public pressure so they are pressured to close the case. They got the blood type wrong and did not really consider the real murderer as a suspect since he comes from an influential family. Sounds familiar? Then they fabricated evidence and frame an innocent guy. Laziness and lack of regard is insufficient to describe how appall the depth of incompetence and corrupted SK police is.

'the police looking for an easy target in the area' . Well, that will surely stop them from getting fired but it won't stop the killing if they arrest the wrong person. Poor man had to suffer for the crime he didn't commit. Indeed, the government should restore his honor and compensate the police's wrongful doing. However, it's not going to erase the emotional pain he had endured I feel like watching one of criminal mind series, in handling cases like this, the profiler has to predict what the killer next move, how their mind works , and the most important thing is how to stop the crime, but I don't see it in this case.

I think Yoon's mother would be so proud of him when they finally meet in heaven... Not because he can say, "I'm innocent", but because he behaved with so much dignity and grace throughout his 30 year ordeal. His life before prison was already difficult enough with the passing of his mother, his disability and his poverty, but he also suffered abuse at the hands of the people who should have been protecting him. He suffered incredible injustice and was failed by the police and judiciary system. He was subjected to dehumanisation. But he never lost his humanity. He could have easily given up by taking his own life, yet he persevered for the sake of his mother's memory. In the end, he didn't even blame anyone, but blamed it on the era. That is grace and humility right there. In the end, he had more class and dignity than any rich or high class individual, and certainly more humanity than that rich but sickening psychopath who deserves to serve out his time in prison.

Mr Yoon deserves to get an apology and compensation from the nation. He served 20 years in prison for the crime he never committed. You can never give back the years he lost because of the nation's incompetence - pay him for damages, at least!!! The investigators must be charged for what they did!

Mr. Yoon Sung Yeo (age 54), who was unjustly imprisoned for 20 years as the culprit of the 8th serial murder of Lee Chun Jae, has received 2.5 Billion won (2.2 Million USD) in compensation from the state. The court, prosecutor and police has formally apologized for unjustly imprisoning for 20 years.

It may not have changed much over the years. Have a look at the so called police investigation into SJM’s death. Money and influence still exist in Korea today. Such a shame😪

Was watching this while shedding tears but what I'm world will these people gain from blaming someone who isn't even In any way related . I know it's too much but shouldn't they issue out an apology to him instead of the public ? 20 whole years is no joke . Having no one to stand by you all your teenage yrs gone by . He deserves more than a compensation , apology and he should be treated better since he is out now . I ldk what to say but this man deserves every good thing in life and wish him all the best

I cried when I saw young yoon sung yeo giving his statement, I can't imagine what it was like to be him at that time. Even though he was found not guilty and received compensation at the end of the trial, the police who arrested him should also be punished....

Shame on the police for putting an innocent man through hell for many years just because they couldn't be bothered to do their job thoroughly. Did Mr. Yoon sue for damages? I would have. I feel so sorry for him but happy that he's finally gotten the justice he deserves and will be able to meet his mother with pride one day.

They literally investigated 20 000 men but couldn’t find the culprit who was living in the same neighborhood
