That was such a great vid. Straight, concise factual comparison! Two thumbs up. I especially iked the flash of the talon when you were talking about other mfgr's possibly thinking about active suspension, though i think honda's so far off the mark at this point their best option is to rebadge one of the leading machines, or co-design the next gen along with one of the top 2. Like the zupra z3 or the frs/ brz.

You will have a blast in either one! I have a plain XP 1000 with the light weight 110hp, and its fast. 195hp, 181hp will take you to crap in your pants status. The ride command was what steered me towards Polaris. The GPS feature works so well. You can ride all day and not worry on how to get back to the trailhead.

I'm pretty stoaked with my purchase of 2020 Can Am Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR. I feel that I literally bought a rally car. This machine is unbelievable off the showroom floor and most people couldn't operate it at even 50% of its capabilities. I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with either the Polaris or Can Am as they're both incredible works of art however, BRP products have been in my garage for 25+ years and have never let me down. 3 SeaDoos, 2 Evinrude Outboards including an 2016 E-Tec and now the Maverick. Not a fan boy just a fan of quality and reliability.

March 2019 I had the opportunity to ride with the Nevada Trail Riders Association out of San Felipe, Baja of California. We went 950 miles in 10 days over some crazy territory. All together their were 80 machines broken up into 10 groups. In my group of 8 machines we had 1) 2018 Canam X3 1) 2019 Yamaha YXZ & 6) Polaris RZR's (2- 2019's, 2- 2018's, 1- 2014 & 1-2015). Long story short... EVERY machine broken down at least once, some broke down 2 and 3 times, causing many hours of repair per day on the side of the trail. EXCEPT my 2018 Canam XRC, I never even opened my toolbox. The Yamaha spent the last day being towed (for 8 hours) back into San Felipe.. RZR guys brought enough extra parts they could have built a new RZR... The only thing I brought was a spare tire that I never touched!

Turbo kit for the Honda talon puts the power close when you take around 30% loss in HP with the cvt vs the 15% power loss in the Honda transmission.
@nathonsmithson3024
@nathonsmithson3024 5 жыл бұрын
@@ascentoffroad first the cvts are more like 22 percent loss vertically identical to any clutch or duel clutch out there. cvts are more efficient at using power.90 percent of power loss between flywheel and the ground is drag from the transmission, driveshafts,axles,tires,ect. the yxz guys would always brag about more power getting to the ground and it simply wasnt true. thats why a 107hp xp would out run a 120hp yxz.with a cvt you basically have a stall and an unlimited amount of gear ratios that shift in essence 20 times in the amount of time it takes to shift a standard once. doing all this without dropping rpms. so basically they flash to peak power immediately and stay there. if you took to comparible machines in power.one with stickor paddles and the other with cvt and put travis pastrana in the stick and your girlfriend in the cvt she would win 9 out of ten races. only losing one because her hair was in her eyes. we have all seen tge dyno videos. the honda looses more than 15percent hp. i think it put down like 81 hp. thats 25 down from flywheel. and thats with really small light tires. not hating. just what i have seen

@@ascentoffroad furthermore a stock xp will out run the honda talon withonly a 3 hp flywheel difference. yes the big one is a little heavier but the xp will get it by a couple lengths and the lighter one is a closer race, almost even but this just proves your logic is severely flawed.

The rest of us working stiffs with mortgages and children to squeeze us dry will have to wait until 2020 Fall and the End of The Season Sales... Every time they come out with a new model that is totally different we have to pay for all the re-tooling, R&D, new body styles and all. That's where the higher prices come from.

I just found this video i realize its 3 yrs old already but i had a Maverick X3 it was a 2017 I believe with 150 some hp stock. I now have a 2021 RZR Pro Ultimate and i love the creature comforts which is what drew me to it! The X3 maybe faster but the polaris is like the denali of trucks, so much nicer all around minus the hp. So since most of these comments i been reading are older, i see so many rip polaris for not building hp, what do these same people have to say now that polaris has the Pro R out and can am is still under 200hp? I love both brands and if can am had the same interior as polaris it would’ve been a real tough choice, but for now it is pretty simple.

SImple, as many dont understand it, the CVT is the most efficent to convert engine power to rear wheels. It is so efficent it has been banned in Formula 1. There is the same loss from crank to rear wheels as any other driveline. The advantages are like no other, always in the right gear with the right power for the situation.

M K while Williams F1 CVT was a pretty awesome feat making his Car faster than the gearboxes in other F1 cars it’s isn’t a direct comparison to the CVT used in snowmobiles and SXS. Metal belts used in Car CVTs are much more efficient and durable. Sxs belts will lose efficiency and wear out causing a drop in HP. Then of course belt braking, slippage when getting wet and overheating. turbo’d YXZ1000r and Honda Talons gear boxes which have about a 15% loss in HP vs 25-30% Mav/RZR CVT puts them pretty close. When comparing HP vs Gearbox/CVT hp loss. When you’re talking what power gets to the wheels. (I know what the company’s engineers say is power loss but multiple out side people have dyno the Mav/Rzr reported those numbers above) I agree perfectly tuned and maintained CVT will get power converted to the wheels faster, do to not having to cycle through gears but the Achilles’ heel in SXS CVT is the belt it’s self.

So you can replace the arms but then your at risk of destroying the frame? The tubing appears to be pretty thin. Seen several break, although I have seen RzR break too, I have seen Canams frames crumple kinda easy and even break in 1/2. Otherwise I think Canam would easily be the way to go. None of these manufacturers are taking into consideration that trail systems are limiting width and weight of machines allowed to ride on them. Speed is also becoming a factor. Having engines that are making optimum horsepower at 50mph may be fine in the desert, but misses the mark in the northeast where you have tight technical trails or speed limits. Getting a speeding ticket off-road is a reality these days. Not being able to tap into that horsepower at lower speeds is kinda a bummer.

Not to mention that monstrosity of a three wheeler thing they built. WTF was that? Then they built the first ever Sport UTV RZR800 in 08. Smart move obviously, Which was just another under engineered poorly thought out Polaris POS desin. But hey, why should they address design flaws if people are willing to buy junk? I'll admit though, I'm glad to see they've done what they should've done years ago and finally build a better quality product. I guess better late than never considering their history building snowmobiles. one would think they'd taken more pride in perfecting their ATV products.
