Though it has not been officially announced, I have a very strong assumption that Aleks Le will also voice Ryoji. In Persona 3, both in English and in Japanese, Ryoji and the male protagonist have the exact same VA. This is both for lore reasons and thematic ones. It's very much intentional. So if this recast is following that pattern, Aleks will also play both.

@StandingByLife I have EXTREMELY high standards with Ryoji. He's my favorite character in Persona 3, and so much of why I love him is because of Yuri Lowenthal's performance. He brought such a soft, sweet, and genuine tone to everything Ryoji said. I'd never heard anything quite like it. It's my favorite role Yuri has ever done. One of his lines for Ryoji is unironically the single best piece of voice acting I've ever heard. So uh... No pressure, Aleks. 😅

The new casting choices have big shoes to fill, especially since Liam O'Brien, Michelle Ruff, and Tara Platt really put such strong performances for their respective characters, but definitely open to them and think they can do the characters justice. Only ones I am even concerned about is Yukari, Akihiko, and Junpei, all those characters are pretty nuanced and could be messed up due to poor voice direction or acting in Reload. However, we have to wait and see.

I was a little worried but felt the names were VERY familiar. (Except Dawn, I knew she was awesome.) I was genuinely impressed. The choice were well thought out. I'm most curious who'll voice Pharos/Ryoji. (He's a sad lad. That's hard to capture.)

When the announcement for a full recast came out, I took it very hard. Persona 3 is my favorite game of all time, the heart and soul of that game is the characters. And those performances are tied to og cast for me. The tears and emotions I had playing P3 are something that no other game can compare. Though the original dub is of it's time, it's also very raw, unfiltered, and has a real grounded touch to it. In many ways, replicating that dub today is impossible. Localization standards have shifted so much since 2007. And many of them have spent over a decade voicing these characters, and with every return the actors got better and better at playing them. Persona 3 Dancing was the best they've ever sounded, it was perfect. Overall, those familar voices ARE Persona 3 to me. And it honestly broke my heart to hear that for P3's biggest outing yet, the game in the series that will have the MOST voice acting in it to date, none of the original cast is coming back. I'll never hear them play these iconic voices ever again. And in a way, it feels like I'll never see the versions of the characters I love so dearly again. I especially mourn the recast of Yuri Lowenthal. He played my favorite character, Ryoji. And his performance was the entire reason I fell in love with the character as much as I did. All I wanted was to hear his soft sweet voice one last time, and now I never will. Logically, I know this recast makes sense. Many of the og VA's are onto bigger things now, and a couple are controversial and would have been recast anyway. And for a remake, it makes sense to wipe the slate clean with a fresh younger cast. They picked good ones even! I'm really curious how Alejandro's Akihiko will turn out, and Aleks' Minato and Ryoji. It's just that emotionally, it's so hard to let go of the experience that changed me life. It always hurts to hear someone say "This new VA is perfect casting!", because the og VA was perfect casting. I'm sure in time, I'll fall in love with this new recast. And I'll withhold all judgment until I have the game in my hands. They have a lot to live up to. The originals will always be special to me.

I'm telling you this now, as someone who has played Octopath Traveller 2, Kaggy andSuzie Yeung will be fine. Ochette and Osvald have the some of the most distinct voices in the entire cast and Kaggy delivers harrowing anger as Osvald, if you've played the game you know.

I could see Allerga Clark doing the Voice of Elizabeth as well because in some of the voice samples shown here she kind of sounded like her and she could get bright and cheerful like the later versions of Elizabeth like she is in Persona 4 Arena and Ultimax. As well as he OG form from Persona 3. Also Tara Platt voiced 2 characters in P3 as well. Also with some of the other new VAs that I heard their work but didn't know it was them.

36:10 I'm sorry but I just think it's very funny the conversation about Allegra Clark's range and whether she could pull off Mitsuru's tone of voice (refined, rather than gruff or cutesy) is going on while Hilda is sitting right there in the middle of the screen. Probably the perfect point of comparison right there, considering she and Mitsuru can team up and even have dialogue with each other. There is a difference in inflection there (and personality, but that's a given), but I feel like their tones are similar enough that I can trust that she'll do a good job, provided the direction's also good. The whole recast seem like good fits so far, I'm really hoping we get to hear more of them soon.

Ngl, after a decade or so of playing P3, I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the new cast. Tara Platt, Michelle Ruff and Liam O'Brien in particular are so ingrained in my mind as Mitsuru, Yukari and Akihiko respectively, I'm not sure the new VAs will ever be able to suplant them, no matter how good their performances are.

Shame that when it comes to english dubbing, there is so much issues maintaining consistent voice roles throughout games. Even if you aren't a fan of listening to the JP audio, they at least are able to have the same voice actors voice the same characters throughout the majority of the time save for extreme circumstances like a VA passing away. It really is an issue in the western voice acting industry for them to constantly be replaced.

@@starmaker75 Yes that’s probably one reason. As far as I can tell, unless you’re voicing a big role in some huge Disney/Nick property or a blockbuster movie, you’re kinda considered disposable. Hell, a lot of big animated films nowadays just use popular Hollywood actors. Anime and JRPG dubs especially are kinda considered the bottom of the barrel when it comes to voice roles in America. They certainly don’t have the celebrity status they do in Japanese media.

I wish Kyle MaCarly, whi voiced 9S in Nier Automata (one of his first big voice acting roles) among other things, could have been hired to voice Makoto Yuki (the protagonist). A reserved emo version of his youthful 9S voice would have been perfect for the protagonist in my opinion I sm someone who has never experienced the original P3, so i don't have as much of a personal attachment to the og voice actors. I sm cautiously optimistic that the new cast will do a fine job. Atlus is usually on-point with their casting choices and know what they are doing.

When I found out who was gonna be the new voice cast for the remake I didn't expect the majority of the voice actors to be people I've either heard about or people I'm digging thanks to certain things. Now that I know who's gonna be voicing Minato, Junpei, Mitsuru, Akihiko and Fuuka, the following entered my brain: So Luke from street fighter 6 is not gonna be a mentor but hes gonna be an emo main character..... This is gonna be fun. D*** even DeeJay's gonna be in this!? YAY BEIDOU IS COMING! Yuffie is looking......different And finally, Damn Gabimaru from Hell's Paradise is going to have a career change. All in all I am pretty excited with the new voice cast!

I think the best role to showcase zeno Robinsons range is Hunter in the owl House, he goes from serious head of the imperial games with hints of some catty and jovialness to a complete lovable dork who desperately wants to fit in and find his identity just like junpei. I think there are 2 reasons for this: 1= some of the cast are a little dicey or just don’t want to do it anymore, or 2= some of the cast has become way more famous and expensive than they previously were. When you put it like that, it makes some sense why they chose to get a all new cast.

I have this weird problem with Alejandro Saab cause when i was a kid i watched him play Minecraft and shit so i get put off when i hear he voices someone i like. Its kinda dumb cause he's actually a good voice actor (Probably the 2nd from this group besides even if im not sure about him as Akihiko) but its always like the hot characters like Akihiko or Leon 2.0 from the Three Houses dlc i never ended up playing and it makes me feel weird.

Fun fact, Allegra Clark voices 3 Female characters in Fate Apocrypha, which means if I counted correctly she voices literally a 3rd of the Active Female cast in that show

The only people i expected to get recasted were junpei and fuuka which is why this was so jarring to me. I'll give this new cast a shot but i worry the most about Makoto, Mitsuru,Yukari,and Aigis the most since i think those characters were voiced really well in the original, I'm sad Yuri won't voice makoto since i heard Makoto might get as many voices lines as joker in this game so he would actually get to talk. but then again he voices like 3 other persona characters so i guess it's fine.

If they did to the old cast they would have used the voice of Ken and fuuka from the spin-offs, both just sound like the original but the direction sounds much better. Though it is funny that Wendee lee voices Lyn and her brave alt says the line “THE ENEMY!!!”

according to the same site we ve had the same voice director for the games since 2012 with Arena and Golden with the only exception being Strikers where they apparently got the guy who did FES and original 4 to do it again. So i don´t think there s much worry about the quality of voice directing Atlus is willing to pay for when they only use the same 2 people for voice directing on the games. Either we re getting the person who s already been doing great work for years now or the person who directed 3 in the first place.

Another Key scene I think will see how good each of the VAs are in the bathing scenes in Kyoko because I think it imperative that we hear a good executed line of being Executed by Mitsuru when you mess up from escaping from the girls during the bath scene. On top of the inteactions with Akihiko, Junpei and Ryoji.

Here’s my thing: if the social links are also fully voiced (or half voice acting), my question is if they’ll cast someone new for Chihiro, or actually get Wendee Lee back (she voiced her in Persona 4)? And if it’s the latter, you just know that people are gonna (somewhat rightfully) complain as to why she was brought back for her and not Fuuka (even though she didn’t voice her in P3, she’s been her VA ever since. Now we’ll never get to hear her say “ *gasp* the enemy!”)

It's so weird to see so many Octopath Traveler 2 characters being recast in P3R. Malaya into Yukari might be the most surprising (though Ochette into Fuuka is surprising too).

I am left wondering who will voice the other characters like igor, Elizabeth and the villains. Now my take on Elizabeth is not wishful thinking by any means but as a possibility that randomly came up in my head, some VAs may end up deciding to reprise like NieR replicant managed to get all of them to return after a decade and even those characters still had the same voices in the mobile game and for a mobile game to have the entire thing dubbed is very rare to see , now I could see Tara coming back as Elizabeth and mainly based on an anime impulse interview where she talked about her two characters it seemed very clear she really loved playing Elizabeth some VAs have their favourite roles and decide to pick and choose which to keep or drop it may explain why a lot of Naruto VAs have managed to stay on for over 15 years, Laura Bailey dropped lucina, chun li and blaze but still came back for fruit baskets and kaine, Troy baker dropped kanji but still came back for Vincent and the list can go on. Igor is an odd one, in jp he kind of has to be replaced but in English in p5 he was given a different VA (not talking about the possessed one) so I wonder if they would use that voice ( old va ended up playing hanneman in three houses so he is still around). From the Elizabeth thing it could really depend on the reasoning on why they decided to do a different cast

Yukari being Michelle Ruff is just, infused into my brain, I love her voice for Yukari so much and hearing a different voice for her is going to fuck me up so bad. Not gonna buy the remake until they add the femc tho anywah

Protagonist-kun I was worried about at first. Yuri’s voice, while underused was still very attached to Makoto for me, but seeing Yuri say himself that he’s happy to see Aleks doing him was good enough for me, I trust he’ll do it well.

On Yukari being a character who's normal most of the time but blows her lid - Yukari's japanese VA did (the one and only) Enoshima Junko from DR - A role built on rapid and EXTREME mood shifts. She's a role built on some incredible emotional range. I don't doubt that the new VAs will be good matches but I just thought it was an interesting connection.

I personally think the new voice cast is solid, but I feel as though Yukari and Aigis should've been swapped considering Heather's work as Malaya (who wasn't a very expressive character) and Dawn's work as Mariabell Crois (who sounds like valley girl Bayonetta and like Yukari, Mariabell is a bitch)

Shamir and Boss convince me so much that Allegra Clark is the perfect recast for Mitsuru. I´m also confident about Dawn Bennett, she was Pyra/Mythra in Xenoblade 2, and while the voice direction was terrible in that game, she kinda also is a robot? So it fits. And her performance in it also reassures me that she will do good in emotional scenes. I think particularly the fight on the bridge.

I'm not as sad about the recasting because P3 is not my favorite Persona game/cast but oof itself gonna take some getting used to because of the fact those characters have been in other spin offs with the same voice consistency. Only voices Im gonna miss are Aigis and Akihiko. Now if the P4 cast were to be recasted I'll definitely be saddened.

Yeah those 3 have been the same from the beginning however besides chie which is a very different take the other voices for the most part were pretty good impersonations of what came before

Josephine from Dragon Age is a good example of Allegra Clark playing a softer and refined character. Different accent but she has that vibe.
