You are definitely right, I may ship them romantically, but I also ship them platonically because of how much they became best friends to each other after the whole Kamoshida accident and how chill they are with each other while making jabs too. Honestly they’re the only boy and girl duo the protagonist meets and befriends that actually like each other and can joking around without it becoming a bad problem(Yosuke and Chie are friends of course, but their bickering can become more negative possibility if they dated. I may haven’t played P3 yet and only have basic knowledge on it and P4, but I’m pretty sure Yukari hates Junpei at the beginning).

Chie already went helping Yu and Yosuke out whenever they needed extra help at Junes later like busy summer week 15/8 already made up for it. And while they do care as friends like when Chie tried to stop the group from becoming murderers for killing Namatame or looking sad when he said he finally avenged Saki. Yosuke making fun of Chie not being "girly" and she getting back at it. Then again most of the IT acting that way for the insensitive things, Yukiko, Rise, Naoto, Kanji, Teddie. Chie, like Lisa and Yukari, genuine stated fact she would never be into him and genuine straight up uncomfortable with the idea. They literally state fact that they would never be into each other and just platonic siblings friends like Eikichi, Lisa and Junpei, Yukari and Yosuke, Chie. Platonic siblings take that but this's just uncomfortable and toxic as hell. The girls in IT just genuine stating multiple time none of them is interested in Yosuke. Fact is they would never date and would never be into each other.

I think that on the first ranks of Akechi’s confidant akechi actually hated joker but as he came to know him more he realised that he wasn’t that bad.I think joker doesn’t hate akechi because he understands his situation and how they are both different sides from the same coin. Ann and Futaba is kind of interesting. Never thought about it before, but if I'm remembering the early Futaba scenes, Ann was the first one to successfully hang out with Futaba and make her feel comfortable. Plus, she helps her out with all the beach stuff. It also felt like she always treated Futaba as "normal" focusing more on making Futaba feel comfortable instead of saying she needs to change.

Aw man you didn't mention the "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred" having such romantic and passionate undertones with the heartwarming "Sunset Bridge" theme playing under it. It's SO FREAKING GOOD AND FUNNY. He literally throws his glove at you to really seal the deal of the "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred". I love it so much. This is the best "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred" I've ever witnessed because of how much passion, respect, and weirdly enough romantic tension there is behind it. Also Maruki gets as close to possible as saying "You're in love with each other." which is really saying something considering the animosity you two share.

Maruki x Inchinose : my headcannon after Strikers' ending is that when Inchinose takes Sophia and travels Japan, she gets into a cab whose driver is none other than Ex-Dr. Maruki. They found out about both being researchers at the top of their field: AI and pscience thingy :) and both had changed thanks to the Phantom Thieves (both being second-to-last or end game boss as well). This would also keep the "fate" theme running. Maruki isn't going to pursue his previous lover and wants to start a new life. Inchinose is feeling alive in a very very very long time. And her heart pounds for Maruki :))) Imo, they would be quite a cute couple with Maruki giving Inchinose treats every time she sits and let him "consult" her. Oh and did I tell you Maruki would probably finds a way to brings Sophia into the real world with his persona if he hasn't lost it completely. Now she can give Makoto those much needed physical stimulation for her back ;)

Actually, when she does that, he responds by mocking the attempt and saying that she shouldn't act like a character from an anime. Ryuji also says that he finds her personality abrasive, and that her looks are what make up for it. I have tried to see from the perspective of the fan base that they are close friends so it would make sense for them to end up together, but Ryuji loves women who are super attractive (he finds Ann attractive but doesn't like her personality), while Ann wants someone who doesn't just like her for her looks, so they may be great friends, but logically from what we know about them, it wouldn't work out and Ann tried but Ryuji didn't want it. This is why I will always see them as friends and not as a couple, and why I ship Joker x Ann for my main ship, although Shiho x Ann is also pretty good.

Truth, I've gone as far as to think about the financial futures of the MC and the P5 girls. In my opinion makoto and ren work the best in this regard as well. Joker has a real skill set as a cafe owner/manager that develops over the course of the game. Makoto obviously wants to be PC and she's got the will and the witt to make it happen. These two professions in Tokyo yield a comfortable life. Haru is the easy answer for financial security but I think that couples do best when both partners contribute/strive for each other and their dreams. It's implied that futaba is also loaded but my point with haru still applies.

Eh, I feel like Makoto would basically be Sae Niijima, especially if she's gunning for police commissioner. Joker would have to be more of the stay-at-home coffee dad for that to work. But all the Wild Card protagonists are basically supermen that can do everything so he could probably make it work. Haru and Joker feels like they'd be the café power couple. But class divide is a real thing and that would be the biggest obstacle to their relationship. Haru isn't just rich, she's modern capital aristocracy. She's the first blue-blood of her family name. Her dad was working class, but she was raised in it fully and may as well live in a different world. And that really fucks with relationships between social classes. I don't think people really realize, but her mistrust of people who are after he money is a major concern in her Confidant content. And having money also creates a barrier-of-entry for the poorer member of the couple -- Joker can't just take a week off to fly overseas. And there are people who actually have internalized the ideology that _you_ are a prole who deserves nothing except what your lords deign to give you. (Basically people like Haru's old fiancee.) And those people are just in Haru's social circle by default.

I feel like Atlus does a lot of accidental pairings just because they find some characters fitting for comedy scenes. I really like Yusuke and Futaba (which I didn't expect to like) mostly because they have many interactions with other characters, when they just default to talking about each other without really realising what tehy're doing. Like in the dancing game where Ruji manetions good looking girls dancing and Yusuke immidiatelly responds with "were you looking at Futaba". I know it's not on purpose, but I'd say it's a pretty convincingly written teenage crush. Plus, since I got Futaba as a navi, she more often then not came in when Yusuke was in trouble in fights. Yusuke has agility down, let's do agility up. Yusuke is low on health, the party get's a heal up. It's just my gameplay, but it was still really funny in that context.

One of them on a picnic where Yusuke tries to be funny by making a pun or, and this is my personal favorite when Yusuke asks Ren for his blessings to be with Futaba to which Ren literally puts a knife to his throat like a protective older brother until Futaba walks in and asks "The fuck are you guys doing?"

Ren's option to say "I love you" in an earlier section of her confidant. "You have me" sounds nicer than "you have the others." + the hug Ann finally says "I love you" to him. They straight up kiss on the ferris wheel on her max rank. Her obsessent attitude to make sure he's okay. If that doesn't scream "Cutest/most loving couple" then I don't know what is.

Also two ships I thought of that weren't in the video but I think are underrated: 1. Futaba/Ryuji, both of them are quite prone totroublemaking and would be dangerous as a couple, I got this idea after watching that hour long video of all the Mementos conversations and noticing how many of Futaba's crazy schemes Ryuji was just on board for 2. Yosuke/Naoki, they were both definitely the most effected by Saki's death and the interaction in Naoki's rank 8 (I think) made me think that Naoki could benefit from Yosuke's cheerfulness. That said the idea of Yosuke dating the sibling of the girl he crushed on is a bit iffy so I'm not sure about this one, but I think it's worth considering.

Yukiko x Narukami is the definitive ship for me, mostly because it’s so incredibly wholesome. Aside from the main plot of Yukiko’s dungeon and her S. Link, their persona designs are like the archetypical male and archetypical female, further linking them. I think their dynamic is really cute, especially their date on New Years, and seeing as she’s the first one to speak up on the last train home, I think ATLUS knew a bit about what they were suggesting. I’d like to think that after everything calmed down and some time passed, Yu and Yukiko started running the inn together, just like she suggested on Valentine’s Day. That way, Yu could support his love’s dream and be home, close to all of his friends. IDK man I just like the idea that Narukami and Yukiko run the inn, Chie and Naoto are cops, Yosuke gets rich and manages all of the Junes stores, and Kanji inherits the textile shop and sells homemade stuffed animals there too.

My ships are mainly Yusuke bound but I also enjoy Ann and Ryuji. I always feel like these two seem like they could be a couple. I found this cute fan comic where Ann is being insulted by people for her being Blonde and Ryuji shouting that Ann ain’t special and the next day, he dyes his hair Blonde and she smiles while he says, “Now were both special” I mean it’s more a Headcanon with this comic for the motive why Ryuji dyes his hair but it’s adorable.

Its definitely a bit of a stretch, but had P5 played out differently I think Akechi and Haru would have worked well together. They are very similar in that they both have a deceased mother and a corrupt, power hungry father. They also both have that sort of higher class air to them, even if Akechi actually grew up poor. That actually makes an interesting parallel since Haru’s father grew up poor as well. It’s kind of fitting that he got killed by a person who is likely very similar to who he once was. Obviously Haru said she couldn’t forgive Akechi, but if she saw the parallels he has with her own father she might reconsider. There is also the fact that they are the most bloodthirsty when it comes to killing shadows, so they’d likely make a good team. Also, I ship Joker and Makoto, so it would be fitting for Joker and Akechi to date Makoto and Haru since they’re friends.

Yusuke and Haru, Yusuke is poor but always acts really rich, they both are very detailed in their own ways (Yusuke with his art and Haru with Coffee and Ballet), plus half the time they both phrase their words weird and it leads to awkward moments.

I was actually about to say I get more of a brotherly/sister vibe from Yusuke and Futaba as opposed to anything romantic. But that being said, they do have some solid sibling chemistry. I felt like her/Joker were in a similar boat, especially with some of the comments Joker can make to Sojiro about the three of them being family. Kinda wish they had some of those same style comments in the friendship route with Futaba.

I could see her getting together with Ryuji, and despite them not having too much screentime together, I feel like she and Sumire could work out too. And I realize I may sound like a hypocrite to some with this one, but I do think Joker x Futaba is really adorable and supportive, and I never saw them as having a sibling relationships like most seem to. I feel like if they were supposed to be seen as siblings, we'd have her making weeb references like "forbidden love" and other lines like that, you know? It seems like most people see them as siblings not because of their relationship with each other, but because each of their own relationships with Sojiro. But like I said, I can understand why people can see them that way, heck I see her and Yusuke as acting like siblings despite not being related. Shipping in general is all just supposed to be good fun in the end, though

When I was first doing Kawakami’s confidant and she mentioned her sister having a rare disease, that made me think, what if it’s the one Takemi’s trying to cure and they meet from Takemi treating her sister, but well, that was made up. Ok, after watching a bit more into this video I'm going to bring up what I think I didn't bring up in the headcanon vid in that I really like when people like explain these things way more than just talking about them. An in depth explanation makes these things feel all the more possible and make all the more sense even if I don't exactly agree with them. I do like the lengths that people go through and all the things they bring up which I feel gives me more insight on not only the series that they are talking about but the character, possibly narrative intent, and the perspective they are trying to show me. It also helps me see the idea of even this sort of fan made story idea where you can realize how 2 personalities even if they never meet might compliment each other to such a degree that it could make interesting scenario's that are fun to think about. Overall I wish more people could explain things this way rather than just like saying it simply or at least have the explanation on deck for people like me who would ask because it's fun learning about that.

I know it's basic as hell but Makoto x Akira is just too perfect for me. They're basically the mom and dad of the Phantom Thieves, they have tons of cute interactions throughout the game (not even counting the optional romance events), his generally laid-back attitude meshes amazingly with her no-nonsense, generally uptight demeanor, and he even pretends to be her boyfriend for her social link. There's also a fanfic called Cop and Robber on AoO that absolutely convinced me on this (It's also the reason I call him Akira and not Ren). I cannot recommend it enough not just for the Makoto x Akira action, but there's also a bit of Mishima x Shiho action like in the video, and the fact that it's just incredibly well-written for a fanfic

First off, Great videos. I means this one and the one with the Headcannons. If you should make a second Part to one of these videos maybe you could take this in? For Ships: Akira/Joker x Akechi. It's very clear that this is the most canon ship in P5R. From the opening, over Akechi's Confidant to their date at the aquarium to the Third Semester. But unlike his other confidants it is Akira who developed feelings for Akechi 1. In the Opening (with the Headcannon that that's some foreshadowing for the Thrid Semester) Akira's the one smiling when he lays next to Akechi. 2. Akechi is Akira's wish in the Third Semester when Maruki actualizated reality. Akira also seems like he wants to hug Akechi when he appears on Christmas Eve (at least for me), also from the answers. 3. In the Third Semester Akira is has conflicted feelings about Maruki's reality and if he should stay there. Even after Maruki confronted Akira with Akechi's (possible) death on 2/2, Akira's more conflicted because of if he should listen to his head to return to the original Reality or his heart to stay there and be with the one he loves. 4. Akira will hold on to Akechi's glove after their duel which he also says in Shido's Palace after the wall came down. Akira also worries about Akechi after Shido's Palace. And when Akira talks to Muhen on his last day, he still holds on to Akechi's glove as it is in his pocket. 5. When Akira invites Akechi to dart in Kichijoji it's only the two of them (and well, Mona). Even if it's because of the fact that no one wants to be with Akechi after what he did, Akira probably wants to spend some alone time with his love. 6. This is a bit Headcannon and more for a Fanfic; If Akira has a Palace (after the Events of P5R), Akechi's glove would possibly be his Treasure. My second Ship is Akira x Sumire because it kinda starts as the "boy saves girl" cliche (not counting the few conversations in-between) on 5/30 after Akira "rescues" Sumire from a man. At first it's kinda one sided and just Sumire falling in love with him. When she, Mona and Akira first visited Marukis Palace before Sae's and Sumire awakens Cendrillon she has a similiar Phantom Thief attire to Akira's because she admires him and in the Third Semester after Sumire has her True Awakening to Cendrillon Akira starts to get feelings for her as well. Also their Showtime Attack. (I also ship the Love Triangle Akira x Sumire x Akechi. It's a real one where everyone loves each other. Akira x Akechi, Akira x Sumire, Sumire x Akechi. Akechi and Sumire knew each other before the game (possibly the real Kasumi knew Akechi too) even if it's briefly) And for Headcannons: Well, this one is not from me but from a Fanfic series I read on ao3; Maruki is Ren's Dad. But it could be possible since they both have similiar hair, face and both wear glasses (even if it's a fact that Akira's/Ren's glasses are fake). Also Maruki seems to admire Akira/Ren. Well he burdens only Akira with the choice to accept or deny the false reality. Also in the game we never hear anything from Akira's parents.
