Guys, there was a typo; Rebecca's last name is Caine not Maine, and Anna O'Byrne is actually Tamara Kotova, sorry! I recommend to use headphones to watch the video because the quality of some of them are not as clear as others that were recorded with professional cameras. However the quality of the audio/video doesn't mean that the singer is bad. So listen closely.

I just feel like Sierra’s voice has more power... It doesn’t sound thin or feels like it’s at the end of her range. It feels more supported... not a singer but my ears just love her vibrato right at the end. It doesn’t grate on me like a few of the other singers here.
@mauvemaven4 жыл бұрын
@@na1959 Again I’m not a singer and I don’t really care about how high someone can go. I generally don’t like voices that are too bright because they sound screechy to me. Sierra’s high note sits just right in pleasurable goosebump territory for me.
@na19593 жыл бұрын
That's because it's mixed. That's because she wouldn't actually have a voice powerful enough in full falsetto because she's not actually that good of a soprana. It's freakin cheating.

@@na1959Again, I don’t really care particularly about technique or technicalities. I just find pleasure in hearing her sing.
@na19593 жыл бұрын
@@mauvemaven Well..i guess..yeah, it depends on your tolerance for pitch. I watch a lot of soprano stuff so I like the finale pitchier like with sarah brightman. I also find sierra's voice and transition to falsetto a bit weird to listen to..it's not like others..it's a bit strange and too breathy, strained and hoarse for my taste..It's very apparent in all I ask of you..if you want to know what I'm talking about. I like it crystal clear and thin.. while I get many people love seirra's voice because she mixes a lot more than other christine's..so it sounds fuller. And she's doing everything at a lower pitch. And her vibrato is slower..which also..depends how fast you like it.

Also lets not forget, she is the best actress out of all of them. She sings with a lot of emotion, which does most the songs from phantom justice. For example, wishing you were somehow here again- without a doubt she sung that particular song the best out of all the other actresses, mainly due to the emotion she puts behind her singing. and btw, that performance of Sierra.. She was really sick at that time, so it amazes me even more that she hit those notes so perfectly!
@zoeanderton94887 жыл бұрын
Aubrey Posen actually, in almost every performance (including the one with Sierra), the cadenza isn't sung live. It's still incredibly impressive, but Sierra wasn't singing those notes live.
@aubreyposen28887 жыл бұрын
I do think this one is sung live. Since she was sick, you can hear her shattered breathing very well, and this is way too synchronized with her mouth to be a recording. I'm pretty sure this was not a recording, but in other performances it sure was. I may be totally wrong though
@MisterGolightly7 жыл бұрын
Zoe Anderton actually, I think most of them sing all the parts except the high E because in some where the quality isn't that good you barely hear the notes until the the high E kicks in and the volume is always more high
@kristynnlee73867 жыл бұрын
Mister Golightly the high e is normally pre-recorded just because it's too strenuous to do 8 shows a week

After earning a scholarship, she furthered her studies at Wright State University majoring in theater arts with a dance minor. Based on musical performance alone: 1. Rebecca Caine - that E is the clearest, most on pitch, most controlled, she nails it without sliding, and it sounds effortless. Reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth's control on the high note in Wicked. 2. Gina Beck - another very clear high E, closest to Rebecca's. 3. Kaley Ann Voorhies - a very close third! wonderful control. Honorable mention in order, very nice skill and pitch accuracy: Celinde Shoemaker Sierra Boggess Lisa-Anne Wood Rachel Barrel Sarah Brightman in the later performance Emmy Rossum, but I don't think it's fair since it's a studio recording.

@Amanda Kay Howell: A former theatre teacher of mine who had worked with some Broadway actors in the past informed my class one time how to tell if a Christine is not truly hitting the final note: if she turns her back to the audience. Sometimes they pre-record the note either if the actress cannot hit it, or if they're giving her a break to avoid vocal damage. I honestly have no idea if this is true or not, I'd have to see for myself, but it is a believable concept that makes complete sense.

Remember when people were like "oh god if they make a Phantom movie with Antonio Banderas it'll be so terrible"? and then the Monkey's Paw closed....

Wow. My teacher at my old school got mad at me for singing really high pitched which was really funny

Ahaha 😂 careful though, make sure you take care of your voice if you plan on singing it more often. Don’t wanna get vocal nodes!

I have a natural high-pitched voice, and I can’t hit the note, haha. 😂

So a little know fact is that 90% of the recordings and live shows are using an audio track for this part of the song. it sounds absurd but its incredibly difficult to sing these notes 6 nights a week for 7 shows. It would cause sever damage over time and ruin the voice. Set rudetsky did a video with Sierra boggess where he applauded her for being one of a few who could sing the high a ( I think that's what it is) 7 times in 6 days without the recording.

Topical but no actress hits that note during the show, it’s on a track and is pre recorded when the actress joins the show. I know from an ex Christine understudy

OurLove4Dance yeah! even to this day, on broadway, it’s prerecorded. singing the e6, at that volume, 8 shows a week is KILLER on a woman’s voice

Damn not even once at least?

OurLove4Dance maybe she’ll sing it every once in a while but 9 times out of 10, you will hear the prerecorded track

I was so glad and surprised to see Tarja Turunen. 🖤 She is my absolute favourite singer and the reason why I got into both metal and opera-I know she isn’t an opera singer, but I was 8 at the time I discovered her and Nightwish, and it was the closest I’d ever been to “Opera”. Her version is my favourite for sentimental reasons, and because of her is that I got to enjoy this beautiful musical. But honestly every singer who played Christine does such an awesome job!
