@@XXlegovidXx I thought so too. I unknowingly ran it super hot for 2+ years. It’d constantly hit 90 degrees under load. This eventually caused my CPU performance to dip to 70% of where it should have been. Games like THE FINALS would constantly stutter after 15 minutes of play. After I got a new cooler it never got past 65. It was pretty much too late cause even though CPU was much cooler the performance stayed the same. When I asked around online everyone told me that it was impossible for CPU’s to degrade within 2 years, even under high heat stress. I thought otherwise but maybe I was just unlucky lol

@@Defiancy yeah cpu degradation is 100% a thing with Ryzen especially, the auto voltage settings will default to about 1.4v, u never wanna go above even 1.275 tbh with 3rd gen ryzen so if it was on that which it sounds like it was, huge chance of degradation.

Future proofing is not as big of a deal as you make it, 9/10 you’ll be upgrading your gpu anyways and that would likey be atleast 4 years down the track. Most cpus will be able to hold up well even for 7 years plus so by then we’ll probably be on entirely new systems anyways so choosing different sockets for upgrade potential is stupid. Plus I would say not everyone is constantly striving to have the best possible pc out there. I mean I still have a 8700k and RTX3080 ! Going strong even in 2024 on 4K

Fr, i got One used on ebay for 60€ with mx4 termal paste and RGB cooler included, It Is on pair with the 3600 and i paired it with a 2060. Its only downside Is that It does not have Sam/rebar, but actually It does not matter since 2060 does not support It either.

holy shit i went from a 3600 to a 5800x3d and i'm not even joking it more than doubled my frames from like 200 to 400-450 average. I have a 3080 and i use max 3d resolution, view distance and textures but everything else is on low. My 1% lows are so stable and fantastic. This has to be one of the best choices i've ever made for my computer.

5700X is an excellent gaming CPU for the majority of games. However, if you play competitive esports titles you might find some value in a faster CPU. My pick for AM4 upgrades would certainly be the 5700X3D over the 5800X3D as it's significantly cheaper for similar gaming performance.

Synopsis- If you already have an AM4 setup, then go for it. It's a great CPU. If you're starting a new build, go with AM5. The MB and RAM are more expensive, but you can get a faster current gen CPU for less money than the 5800X3D and it has more room for future upgrades.

For those on a budget but want the best they can get and cannot upgrade at all until 2026/27 I actually still recommend the 5800x3d over am5. They don’t plan on upgrading until am6 is out and at times the 5800x3d has been as low as 270 at microcenter new when bought with a mobo and ram. Slap a peerless assassin on it and it’s golden.

Yeah the 5800X3D isn't dropping in price anytime soon because it's the best gaming GPU on am4 which allows for a lot of overall savings to upgrade an existing am4 build. Since lack of DDR5 is the only real limiting factor of the platform right now, it's going to be a while before switching to am5 or an Intel 12+ cpu becomes a real necessity.. X3D can handle I think up to a 4080 without noticeable bottlenecking. Probably the 4090 would be bottlenecked a bit, but at that point who's paying for 4090 and not a 13700+ or a top 3 am5 cpu🤷

Would love one of these CPUs as i have a b450 tomahawk but 5800x3d is 520 AUD which is almost 350 USD. 5700X3D is only 390 AUD or 257 USD is such a better price. At the price of the 5800x3d i would prefer to just buy a 7600 build because 7600 is as fast as the 5800x3d and cost 200 AUD cheaper. Main reason why is because am5 isnt a dead platform. What i will do though is buy a 5500 and sell the ryzen 5500, rx 580, and 16gb ddr4. Should help me pay for the new build.

Ryzen 7 5800x3D, Deepcool AK 620 cooler, carry forward the Mobo & RAM, Radeon RX 7800 XT & 850 Watts PSU. Total Cost = $ 1163 (approx). 2. Ryzen 5 7600, Deepcool AK 620 cooler, 32 GB DDR 5 6000 MHz CL30 RAM, Gigabyte B650 Gamig X AX Mobo, Radeon RX 7700 XT, 750 Watts PSU. Total Cost = $ 1215 (approx). Note - I stay in a warm climate country (45° C in Summer) so the stock cooler won't cut it for 7600 or above. Which path should I take considering the costs are similar. The primary purpose is gaming.

I'd advise going on AM5 if you want to play resource intensive games or productivity task. However if you aren't then path 1 is a good path. If you want to play any game then path 2. The RX 7700 XT is a powerful 1440p capable GPU that can run 1440p 60 FPS on high to ultra settings. Regarding this though, the RX 7800 XT is a powerful 1440p or 4K GPU and can run 1440p on highest settings with no problems. It may also do 4K gaming but I advise not to

Zack won't get trigerred by Nvidia or AMD. He's just delivering which side is best for his audience. And for your GPU, the Ryzen 5 7600X can pair up with any GPU except maybe a 4090. I'd recommend a 4070 Ti Super or a 4080 Super if you have the money. Otherwise, a 3080 or a 4070 Super

5800x3D did do better than my 5800x and 5900x but I only used it for a month before realizing I can go AM5 for basically the same price and performance. I’m not scared of the process to swap out cpu,mb and ram. I might have to buy another $20 windows license but I just take pics of my hardware , software screens of it working, download all the new drivers, uninstall all the current drivers. Swap hardware out , load drivers and then sell off old parts. Out of pocket cost easily under $100.

7600x are usually $200 on sale with a hair better avg performance than a 5800x3D so 7600x and 32gb of DDR5 is the same price of the 5800x3D. Sell off old AM4 combo to pay for the board easily. Same price to go AM5. 50003D chips are good if you can get them around $150 or if you suck on PC hardware and don’t want to hassle with it because it’s a big task to do so for you.

If you already have decent AM4 why not? AM4 with minimum future upgrade last almost five years until AM5 beat the performance.

last year i went from a i7 4790k to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and i couldn't wait for AM5 and tha clockspeeds tha DDR5 ram situation is atm imo is way to low for longevity and DDR4 is way cheaper

I 4k Raytracin ultra with it so im happy with the 5800X3D. can be whatever. Cyberpunk and hell divers like at a weird ultra quality graphics is like 60 fps. If i wanna lower it i can get worse quality but like 150 plus fps.

just started my PC journey after owning a steam deck and a Lenovo legion go. I've been using my legion go on my Odyssey G8 monitor (yes I know it's a waste of a monitor for that device) but I reached out to microcenter where I am in Pennsylvania and they had a guy put two builds together oem for 2200 another for 3400. What should I look out for or be aware of ? Do I need an rtx 4090 with a Odyssey G8 ? Are those fancy cases on Amazon better than standard. Can I list off the parts he printed out for me ?
