I only put in maybe 20mins per day, but I have a full time job and a small gardening business and I also have to practice bass and guitar not just drums. I have a feeling he can put that much time into drums practice as that is his business pretty much! So understandable to be able to devote that much time to practice. If I didn't have the other crap filling up my waking hours, I would be able to practice drums more - that said, I do air drum in the car as in not obvious like...lol Also bass practice in the car whilst driving, it truly does help a LOT! 45mins drive each way to work 5 days per week.

For me it’s not even that he does all these crazy rolls with one hand, it’s how CLEAN he does them with one hand.. every thing is perfectly on time and syncopated. I’ve played drums for 21 years and it blows my mind how tight his playing is man.
@c.l.368 Жыл бұрын
Let me break it to ya mate: he sounds so clean cause HE EDITS THE AUDIO, it's not that he's so tight, it's that you're listening to a computer corrected version of what he actually played. No human sounds like this, and those of us who have been around long enough know this for a fact because, before computers, nobody, not even the fucking titans of drumming history sounded like this, but now you suddenly have hundreds of half naked 18 year olds all over the internet showing their boobs and shredding like a drum machine. This guy's doing the same, it only takes a pair of ears and a little experience listening to live drums to realise this undeniable fact

@ujiltromm7358 Жыл бұрын
It's a foreign feeling for me to be pissed at someone who's put much more work and dedication than I do into his craft. I fear there's a disconnect when people call "talented" whoever is "experienced" or "dedicated". "Talented" makes it sound like it's innate, born with it, and it's pissing people off that they weren't born with such talent; while "experienced" tells of the time and efforts put into it, and by the same token reflects on the person who's "less experienced" as someone who has less time to put in it, or doesn't take the time and effort to go do it and be able to reach the heights people like El Estepario Siberiano did, and that hurts the ego. I have a feeling the people who are pissed off at someone else's "talent" are actually pissed off by themselves for not having the drive to put the time in and get experienced. Having an emotional reaction is easier. To be clear, this isn't directed at you personally. I do not know you, I am just making a broad generalization based on a pattern I have witnessed often and you happened to echo that pattern.

@@ujiltromm7358 This is why I don’t comment on anything anymore. I’m not actually pissed off at the guy for practicing his ass off to get where he is, and my fragile little ego is actually unscathed when I watch his videos. Thanks, Dr. Jung! It’s what’s known as hyperbole; a purposeful exaggeration not to be taken literally and used to illustrate a point. People take themselves and their “brilliant” insights way too seriously. for a lot of his one handed videos he is using a technique on the snare called a gravity blast, which is basically using physics to hit the snare on the up and down swing using the rim as a fulcrum. He is a man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will

My favourite video of this man, he starts the video of a comment "it's clearly sped up" which he response with a 1 handed drumming session holding up a timer

Being a musician, songwriter and vocalist myself, l must say that this guy is very good. Personally, playing three different instruments with drums being one of them, l'm a big Buddy Rich fan, but you have to give credit where credit is due, and you have to give this guy his credit. I enjoyed this.

That one-handed snare roll is essentially called "The free hand technique" and was made famous by drummer Johnny Rabb....he has videos where he shows hoe to do it. Rest assured. As a drummer with 45 years of playing under my belt, every time I see this guy out out a new video. I want to do a little dance because he is so awesome!!

This man is something else!! He can do things on a drum kit that defies the Laws of Physics and the Laws of the Universe!! That double hammer pedal is actually quite a simple set up. Both feet are needed to work it. Each foot works one hammer and they work independently. Basically left foot = left hammer and right foot = right hammer. If you watch his feet he's rapidly stepping Left, right, left, right to get that machine gun bass beat. And this was just his Right hand being used!

Drummer here with 20+ years experience... He is amazing, as are a lot of drummers. But each in THEIR OWN WAY. I could have spent time studying all forms of drumming, genres, play styles, hand techniques, etc. The list goes on, but after maybe year 8 of my drumming journey I found a SPECIFIC SOUND that I wanted to shoot for, something that inspired me, and I pretty much stuck with that, and got really good at it. Don't take me wrong, it's awesome to be well-rounded! But when someone is consistent with a style, or practices their "way" more than other types of drumming, they can be more "unique" to that style. And therefore stand out a lot. It's where you put your time!

Not sure if he is in a band but the depths at which he excels is tremendous!!!!! Amazing drummer

He quit his band (Saratoga) due to not wanting to tour, and basically progress what he loves doing which is teaching drums and doing his KZbin videos. He made a video explaining it all.
@CynHicks Жыл бұрын
A bit more information is that Saratoga is an old school metal band from Spain. He wasn't an original member. The band for him was a big influence on him growing up. So it's kinda like joining Megadeth if you're my age and leaving after a few years. He doesn't like touring! Oh and no those guys aren't difficult to work with like Dave can be. 😂
@Heimyto Жыл бұрын
@@randomhandle99 He basically said that while he loved the whole thing, there was "band", "practice", "his KZbin channel": pick two. He was not going to compromise on practice time and wanted to give the channel a longer go, so...

This is what happens when you practice for 18+ hours a day. He is reinventing drumming, breaking the laws od physics and changing everything we thought we knew about drumming. The man, the myth, the living legend.
