i remember pulling welt from my beginner banner in week 1, and a lot of people (at least in my circles) were memeing on him... but when i learned how his kit worked and started to see others recognize his strengths, i was very happy to learn that i had gotten a truly amazing and unique character so early on. It's definitely funny to think about being made fun of for calling welt a "CC monster" nowadays

i thinks gepards secret true strenght is his agro value. He just protects team when everyone hits him. It does not even matter if he is disabled. They still hit him! then when he ever wakes up ulti (because he is hit often ulti comes back super fast) and then he can go back to sleep in some of those hard moc battles where there are lot of disabling enemies!

Yes that is my experience as well. As long as he gets to wake up once every third round to reapply the shield everything is good :D Even when RNG screws you and he ends up dying he just comes back, awake and ready to shield.

Bailu may have rng healing but she has something that no other character has and that is cleanse ... of death ! Being able to continue MOC runs despite losing a character is very handy in my opinion when enemies REALLY want to kill your tingyun :(

My beginner banner unit was Gepard and he was truly a lifesaver. I still use him to this day because he just tanks so well and can fit a lot of teams. I was fortunate enough to get Welt as my second! I've been waiting for Bronya, but she hasn't come home yet. If she still doesn't come home by 300, I'm getting her for sure!

I think bailu’s invigoration and damage reduction from top trace node are under rated. With an ERR rope she easily can keep a team up with just her burst and thereby be quite skill point positive. The lack of a cleanse is disappointing but plenty of times it’s not necessary either.

My beginner banner gave me Himeko. I was all over the place in terms of my opinion of her, but in the end fell in love, and Dreamy helped a ton in that regard. But I agree with your placement, one of the fair ones. And yeah, I just got Yanging. Maybe will build him later, when meta change to more ice because of jinglui. Left only Bronya, Welt and Clara, and on 300 i'll pick Bronya.

Yanqing might not be great since obviously we are going to get more insane single target units later on, but his playstyle imo makes him much more fun than it looks. Hitting follow up attack freezes is one of the nost satisfying things ever. Hope I can get gepard to unlock his full potential soon

I have gepard and can unlock his full potential plus geppie bis signature light cones and yangqing e1 but I used to love playing him when I first got him st belabor around tb lvl 25 ish and lvl 20-30 on all my characters but now he kinda fell off and I like jing lius playstyle alot snd I can guarantee get her with like 3 wishes since I only lose 50/50 but if seele comes out in 1.4 I'll skip jing liu cause I'm a seele main without her but he's definitely still strong and useful and his freeze is great and you want to build to much speed or crit on him very flexible sadly he's only single target and I thought when I first saw his ult animation it would hit multiple targets it's OK I still love him just I would like a bronya bailu welt heck even himeko now mihoyo or a clara dupe be nice I'm now around lvl 50s and 60s my only 60 is fire trailblazer and there a staple on all my teams or most of my teams until I get a good sustain buffer debuffer or damage dealer with crazy break effect aka asta arlan herta dies of cringe asta break is lowkey underrated tho to replace I'd also like a good wind dps or support heard there's a healer who I think is harmony for wind coming up don't know when tho and I would like himeko but I could get hook the great coming up and her editors are cracked for dps only difference is in age damage 💔

You can use Fire MC + March instead of Geppy, not optimal but works in my case. Fire MC can take aggro and with March shield he can keep his talent.

Yanqing was my first 5* and the points u make in ur video are so true! against just bosses he’s great but in MOC where there’s more enemies +waves u tend to burn through turns very fast. Also I feel like since he does no form of aoe dmg he is more prone to powercreep unfortunately, as ive kinda grown to like him:( but ill keep using him~ ill choose bronya at 300 as i got her weapon as my second 5*

At first, I deemed Bailu the best pick since there are only 2 abundance units. But now that Lynx in coming (not to mention that she also cleanses), this pushes Bailu down a lot lower than I expected. Personally, I'd pick Bronya. I am comfortable with Tingyun already and I have a main stay Yukong to my IMG team with Welt, but I will still pick Bronya. Mostly due to mr having her LC. lol.

I honestly suspect that everyone who says “Yanqing bad” either a) doesn’t have him and parrots everyone else without thinking, or b) has him through losing a 50/50, got salty and put no effort into building him, and then cries “damage bad”. The boi has great damage with CDMG build (20k skills anyone? Oftentimes almost in a row because he self-buffs speed?). With ANY effect hit rate rolls his freeze procs super reliably. He just requires more than 1 brain cell to play because his speed jumps around and you gotta get creative in protecting him (through either aggro or shields). I guess that’s enough to trigger the “press E on your waifu to do big damage with no other conditions whatsoever” people.

My problem with yanqing is that unless you have bronya, you pretty much have to run a second damage dealer just to work around his non existant aoe damage. Himeko can solo dps a fire weak side of memory of chaos but yanqing can't easily do the same for an ice weak side. You can buff himeko with anyone to make up for her single target damage but you can't buff yanqing to give him aoe damage, unless you have bronya to give him enough actions to clear out large groups of enemies in a reasonable time. Ultimately he's still really good, I don't think any of the starter 5 stars are bad, but I agree with the notion that he is the worst one of the bunch, and this is from someone whose first 5 star was yanqing and has been building him since week one of star rail.

@@jeremiahsmith916 For a 5 star, Yanqing IS bad. I got him from beginner banner so both of your fancy narratives don't apply. He needs Gepard (a 5 star) to be optimal, he can't do AOE, and even when the stars aligned his numbers isn't amazing (and it's just going to get worse from here with the powercreep). As a stopgap DPS you're better off investing in the 4 stars. Nobody wants to lose 50/50 to him and nobody will use the 300-pull selector to get him.

The March counter synergy of freezing is only an issue on auto. On manual play you can hold her ult for any time that you need to delay an enemy turn so you can shield Clara in time for a big hit. Building effect hit and speed on March isn't bad either for building Skill points and making sure she can get that turn in on the frozen opponent.

In overall, i agree with most of it, you really analyze all char with it great point and weaknesses, for someone that getting all the support char (gepard, bailu, and bronya) early but can't get any 5-star dps char, i'm annoyed to the point i wanted to switch acc, but after knowing the experience from my friend that literally opposite off me (getting all the dps char but no support), i actually kinda glad lol, my team is really "solid" that i rarely have problem picking my team to survived in the main story and events, but my team weakness is just i can't clear it so fast, so content like MOC is kinda hard for me, yes i can survived most of it, but it will take way slower than people that have proper dps char and team comp

You gotta try to get Imbibitator Lunae. Pair him with Tingyun / E4 Pela or E6 Yukong and then Gepard for sustain and you're swimming in easy mode until you remember about your other team.

Probably the most accurate tier for this. I'm glad you did Himeko justice, every day more people realize they were wrong (just like with a looot of things and mechanics in the game since release) is a good day. Inevitably, dps will have less value to pick since that's the most released role in limited banners, and they make sure they're busted in order to sell, but her standing was well explained above that. I got lucky to pull Himeko as my first 5 star, so I won't have to use the selector. It's a hard pick between Bronya, Gepard and Welt, I haven't made up my mind yet. I want Welt, the most useful would be Gepard, and my account wants Bronya because it already has her lightcone, so I'll have to decide at a later time when the balance tips.

@@guobacertified I would, but I think my non-Himeko side of MoC needs more help, they're always lagging behind and getting close to the round limit. Though I guess if my free sustain units can handle it a little longer, bronya making their carry kill faster would also help. Eidolon-wise she's probably the biggest value too in case of duplicates later... thanks, even though I love Welt I think I made my decision now.

On my first 5* I got Yanqing and let me tell you he's really good especially in the early/mid game when you don't have much good relics and his self buffs are crazy useful. Also Clara and Gepard are really good units, worth investing into, had so much fun playing with these 3 so far And there's lvl 20 Himeko.... maybe some day I'll build her XD

I just got my free character last night, and I picked Bronya. I got my first Yanqing at soft pity right before the picked unit, so now the only one I’m missing is Welt. As much as I wanted to pick him, I absolutely love Bronya’s design and she’s so broken since I also have her signature Light Cone. She will be a staple for my Blade teams.

Nice vid. Agree with everything except Bailu. I am biased because I use her extensively and dont have Luocha, but in my experience a well geared Bailu's ultimate provides comparable team survivability to Gepards - that she also heals makes her situationally better to him. Bailus revive is also so clutch for tough runs, and incredible for smoothing auto runs - great for simulated universe. Good for both casual and endgame content I agree that the lack of dispel really hurts, but I'd still recommend her over Himeko. Her revive makes her an even better help for farming, imo Otherwise everything spot on. Really interested to see if Clara and Welt can maintain their unique spots, or if future limited units will creep in on them

The thing for me that makes Gepard better than her is the fact that I have a yanqing and recently I've been using him in my kafka and sampo team because he prevents sampo from being oneshot as he is a very squishy character

Bronya is the easy and most obvious pick for me. I have Luocha and will be getting Fu Xuan (don't have Gep or Bailu) so I won't be needing anymore sustain units after her. I also incidentally already have Clara, Himeko, Yanqing, and Welt so I don't need copies of them lol. Although, even if I didn't have any of them, I'd still pick Bronya cause I love her design and could always use more strong supports.

I really wish we had a character that gives a debuff where if a target gets weakness break, refresh the toughness bar by half, to be able to trigger another break. Would really help Himiko if she wants to break a lot but I don't know if that character can be done and what balance should be done with it but could be a lot of fun for Break Effect characters.

Why not? Topaz for single target, Himeko for trash clearing + that single target damage boost from your dream + Asta + solo sustain. Obviously only for fire weak enemies, but considering how hoyoverse makes content that fits characters that are coming out, i bet at least for 1.4 there will be plenty fire weak enemies.

I got Yanqing fairly early, and he carries me pretty well. I managed to get his lightcone on the standard banner too. He hits hard and his follow up attacks procs fairly often and also freezes bosses which has helped increase my survivability. I just hit 300 summons on the standard and will be picking Gepard as I like his design and he’s my fave character :) The current other standard characters I have are Bailu (e1), Yanqing (e2) and Welt so I think he’s a good pick for my account

my beginner banner character was yanqing who i never used at first but use quite a bit now against bosses etc. (GODLY with remembrance world 7 btw). my first standard banner 5 star was himeko who has become my default “lose a 50/50 to me” character sitting pretty at e2, i actually hit my 300 last night and it was between bronya and welt since i have luocha for sustain (on one side at least…). i ended up choosing the Reason/game design student over the mentor as i realized welt wasn’t as valuable with IL compared to pela as i figured and my yanqing and qq could use some love (and boy do they hit harder now) great vid as always btw :)

The very first 5* I pulled was Bronya and I remember at the time being disappointed cos she's not a massive damage dealer. But then I properly looked at her kit and suddenly I was so grateful. Now the question is for the 300th where I get to choose my 5*, do I choose Bronya to get her e1 or do I choose a unit I don't have yet (lookin at you Welt)

id go with a new unit, just because it gives you more options. welt is a really great choice, and as a welt haver, id absolutely recommend him. however, if you get him (and/or any other standard 5* you wanted) before your 300th or absolutely love bronya more than any other unit, go ahead and work on your bronya!

I'm leaning towards Bronya and Welt,. First off, I already have Clara, Gepard and Himeko. Also, since I have Luocha, I don't feel the need of another healer in this very moment. And although I find Yanqing's design and animation dope, my DPS needs are mostly covered (and if not, I can bruteforce with Silverwolf on one of the sides). So yeah, those are my pick.

Excellent analysis, I agree with all of it with a couple of exceptions. Bronya is easily the best pick, there's no real competition. Her skill and ultimate are both amazing, making her the current best support unit in the game. She also hugely benefits from her totally OP lightcone, which you can just buy from the shop after doing enough pulls. With the way the meta is currently, Bronya is also future proof, and not likely to be powercrept for at least another year. You need one tank/healer to protect a team, one hyper-carry dps, and two buffing support characters. We need to make two teams for Memory of Chaos, which means we need 4xsupport characters for both teams. That means there needs to be 4 limited buff characters released that are all more powerful than Bronya before she becomes obsolete. Bailu was already powercrept by Luocha. When Fu Xuan is released, she'll powercreep Gepard. Both Bailu + Gepard will be benched permanently at that point, unless we're up against insanely tough content that needs two teams each with a tank + healer. Saying that, I was still able to clear MoC10 using both Gepard + Bailu, so they're still perfectly viable. Yanqing and Himeko were both powercrept to oblivion by Seele, Jing Yuan, Blade, Imbibitor Lunae, and Kafka. Welt has great crowd control, but his damage is mediocre at best. With bosses mostly being immune to imprisonment, I personally think you're better off just taking another damage buffer and going straight for the kill. Although I like Clara, her mechanics don't really fit in with the current HSR meta. She works best when your team gets hit a lot, and she can counterattack lots of enemies with her aoe. But we're mostly fighting a single boss with just a couple of adds, which greatly limits her effectiveness. The fact that her damage falls off a cliff if the enemy isn't attacking makes her much less useful when you've built a strong team that's quickly clearing adds. TLDR: Pick Bronya. If you got her already, pick Gepard/Bailu. As resources for levelling characters are quite scarce, even for a whale, I'd strongly advise against building any of the other characters. The rest have either been powercrept already, or will be soon.

I’m around 200 for mine and I’ve decided with Welt for two reasons. First is because I kinda just like him more than the others and secondly my first two five stars from the standard banner legit both were Welt’s signature light cone lmao. So it makes pretty good sense more now for me to get Welt since mine can be quite strong with his S2 light cone that I already leveled to 60 plus I already have pre farmed trace materials and relics. Currently only TBL 43 and treading on comfortably haha

Bailu should definitely not be a B, Atleast a low A. If Bailu is in B then Himeko should definitely be in C. They’re miles apart in usage. Everything else I 100% agree with, good tier list.

When I started the game i made like 3 Accounts for the first week getting Bronya, Clara and Geppy on each. Claras i dropped fast due to 4* not being great. By then everyone talked about how strong Bronya was but i just didnt like her compared to other Harmony units, especially now with the release of Yukong. So yea Geppy for the win and im still happy with that decision! For the Selector ill go with a unit i either dont have by then or Clara Eidolons

I'm very glad my first 2 five star were Yanqing and Gepard so I got to squeeze the absolute most out of them I'm still unsure if I wanna pull on Jingliu but you bring up a great point that she's absolutely gonna powercreep Yanqing. I already kinda like her anyway, worth thinking about further. Anyway, for the 300 pick I only have Bailu, Welt and Bronya left and I'm absolutely picking Bronya assuming I don't get her before that, otherwise Welt it is. I'm currently stuck between Gepard, Bronya and Bailu, since I have everyone else either from standard or losing on rate up. Gepard cause i just got his LC and being able to go without a healer would be amazing. Bailu, mostly because of the recent events and she's adorable. Bronya is in a wierd situation. The last 5 50/50's I've lost so far have been to Bronya, so it's a competition to see if either I get another Bronya or I hit 300 first. I wouldn't mind building another unit but having one of the best supports at max Eidolon would be amazing.

Imo Welt's biggest strength for any player is his synergy with wind Dan Heng, a free dps. His technique (correct me if I'm wrong) to imprison enemies on round start means that Daniel immediately get the bonus damage on slowed enemies Having a free core team for MoC means that you don't have to rely on RNGesus to bless you with good pulls to farm MoC.

Himeko was my beginner 5* and got her signature LC as my first 5* in standard warp. She's the one I wanted before the game launched so I was happy to get her. She carried me all the way but she's been resting now since after getting Kafka. The next standard 5* I got was Bronya from SW banner. She's just so good and I pair her with Sushang. I got Bailu from standard banner and she serves me well as my 2nd healer/sustain so I didn't see the need to pull for Luocha. Then recently I got Gepard from Kafka banner. I haven't fully built him yet but looking forward to add him on my teams. The only standard 5* I kinda want is Welt so I might get him as my guarantee. I'm planning to pull on Jingliu so not much want Yanqing and Clara.

game has been trolling me so hard in standard banner. All I want is a bronya for my blade but so far in 220 pulls I have gotten a yanqing, a clara, and then 4 lightcones in a row (bronya lc, geppie lc, himeko lc and clara lc) eveytime I see the gold ticket I think finally a chance for bronya but it ends up being a lightcone 😔 . Atleast 6 5 stars in 220 pulls is lucky in a way xD

I got Welt when I lost the 50/50 on the Silver Wolf banner (imagine the Nihility symbol troll!). He's been shockingly great ever since, and I ain't even mad about missing out on SW. Clara was my first 5 star and carried me through the majority of the content until I got lucky on other banners. Bronya was a surprise pull from the Standard banner. These three units-- Welt, Clara, Bronya-- have provided so much value. But I think when 300 comes, I'm going for E1 Bronya. Since I got lucky and snagged her LC, those skill points will be valuable with DHIL, but she's currently on my Blade team. Bronya's Advanced Forward mechanic just lets you play a new game by messing with the turn order and enabling you to plan your cycles better, and in MOC, that's so strong. I was able to finally get a full MOC clear with what I call my "dream team" sweeping up the last boss -- Blade, Bronya, Luocha, and Welt-- and it felt good!

I downloaded this game hoping to get Himeko off the rip. I got Gepard. Shortly after the game was nice enough to give me Gepards LC and Bailu's LC from the standard banner. More recently it was still very nice to me and gave me Welt right before Kafka dropped and then Welt's LC ten pulls later. I also pulled Bronya during Kafka's banner, and now im saving up for her LC from the shop. But it doesn't matter. Come hell or high water, when I get to 300 pulls, if I don't have Himeko by then, I will get Himeko.

I was very lucky to get Gepard as my second 5-star character, and I find him amazing. Even without being properly leveled up and upgraded, he has still carried me through all the current stages of the SU and the initial stage of the SD. I don't have Fu Xuan so having him as my main tank / sustain is a blessing. There's no need for me to pull for Yanqing since I already have Jing Liu. Bailu, as I have mentioned before, is my very first 5-star character. I don't use her as much as I want to, but she did help me immensely during my very first attempt to handle difficult optional content. I won't be pulling for Himeko despite liking literally everything about her: you need to be an exceptionally great player to use her well while trying to complete truly difficult challenges and I know I won't become one soon; and I already have enough powerful characters to handle easier missions and enemies. So there are three characters I'll have to choose from: Clara, Bronya and Welt. Clara is one of the reasons I was pulling so hard for Topaz: I enjoy counterattacks in every game they are in, and Clara's playstyle is literally based on them. She and Topaz also work really well together. However, I have a feeling that by the time I have reached my final pull, there will be more FuA-characters in the game I would like to pair Topaz with, so it may be better for me to wait for them to appear, especially since I was not lucky enough to get her as my very first 5-star. That leaves me with only two possible choices: Bronya and Welt. You can't actually go wrong with the former: literally every team can benefit from having her. Here comes another problem, however: I don't like her as a character that much. I know that Bronya's being so good means that I should probably pull for her anyway, but everybody knows that the very first thing you should consider before warping is whether you like the character or not. And I know that I don't care that much about her personality and story, sadly. And that's the reason I will probably choose Welt as my second free 5-star character. I really like his personality, mannerisms and design: he's a great example of an intellectual who, while being smart, educated and elegant, never strikes you as toxic or arrogant, and that translates very well into his playstyle: he's very flexible and can be rather easy to use as a debuffer or a sub-dps, but if you know the game really well, you can probably work wonders with him, dealing with even the most difficult situations in very unconventional yet efficient ways. Welt is niche, but his kit is too powerful and unique to get powercrept or substituted by some other character's skills, even if they will turn out to be extremely good. All these things combined are the reason why I will probably choose him when I finally make that long-awaited jump. And could not have come to that conclusion without your advice. Thank you!

What people doesn’t realize is Gepard being able to freeze is a win-win for a DoT team player The frozen enemy, DoT triggers then enemy will have its turn, but they will be around 70-90% Action Value which means that enemy will have its turn again soon and take DoT dmg
