Agreed. Varane was great. I'd still vote for Kante or Pogba first, who both played such crucial roles as holding midfielders (considering how well they locked down very talented offensive sides). But sadly centre fullbacks rarely get the credit they deserve. I would say Lloris, he wasn't flamboyant but he was solid when it need to, except for the brief unfortunate lost of focus gap in the final, but throughout the tournament, he did not make any mistakes, so the whole team feel confident. He and Kante and Umtiti basically slammed the door shut to all adversities and boost th confidence to the attack lines. I want to congratulate Deschamps. Not only he restored the discipline within the team and the prestige to the national team shirt that they're wearing, he built the team in his own image when he was the player. Solid in defense, no fantasy unnecessarily. France team can go all out like in the final,but when it needed to, they all can commit to play defense like when facing the Uruguayens. And th most important act was to cut off all acting shits to the whole team, not only MBappe. I was caught by surprise that not a single French acts after the minute 70. Win with honnor was what Deschamps restored to the image of proud France national team, that's what Domenech lost during his reign which led to the 2010 fiasco. Now the France team that I knew during the 80's mosketeer spirit is back, I can be proud chering for them again.

Am I the only who think Mbappe has been massively overrated in this WC? Against Argentina was his real breakout moment, and played a great game, but other than that game, he wasnt nearly what everyone was making him out to be. He was relatively shut out vs Uruguay, and vs Belgium he showed moment of brilliance from time to time, it was a decent game at best by him. Now vs Croatia, he was rather ineffective for majority of the game and had it not been for his goal (which wasnt the game winning goal, Pogba's was, but was a magnificent strike) no one would really be talking about him to the level they are now because he scored. I understand that he is only 19, but dont be a prisoner of the moment, football media is trying to over hype the kid because the Messi/Ronaldo Era is coming to an end. With that being said, Griezmann, Pogba, Kante, Umtiti, and Varane have easily been better than Mbappe. Not to mention how great Pavard, Lucas Hernandez, and Matuidi have been also. This french team are collectively brilliant, but Mbappe in no was "led" this team.

greizman scored more difficult goals from nothing, is more reliable and is also a 10 playmaker. Overall greizman is better. But Mbape is a huge wild card.

I am not doubting the kid is the future but this whole agenda about him being better than Messi/Ronaldo is getting out of hand. I can see the argument the he may have been better than Cristiano at 19, and thats debatable, however Mbappe was no where near the level of Messi at 19, Messi was an absolute phenom and we hadn't seen someone like that at his age since Brazilian Ronaldo and a young Maradona in Argentina. Messi was literally dubbed the second coming of Maradona at 17. Dont get me wrong, the kid is special, and extremely talented, I am rooting for the kid, I just think people are buying into the media hype. Hopefully the hype doesnt get to the kids head because he his a immense amount of potential.

it was easily pogba, yea kante was a defensive animal in the midfield and mbappe dominated in the attack, but pogba was a commander in both departments, 2-3 times he led the team in interceptions, and clearances also creating lots of chances and pinging 40 yard passes.

People are talking about defensive solidity, but Mbappé is the main reason why they could focus on defense and still know that even a single decent pass could get them a good look at any point. When you have an outlet like that, you can sit back and soak the pressure. No, they couldn't have won the cup without Varane, Umtiti, Pogba, and Kanté, but they would have had to take more chances and held a higher line if they didn't have Mbappé, and who knows, maybe that means they let in more goals. They have lots of good forwards, but Mbappé allowed them to play so cautiously. It's not idiotic to say Mbappé was the best player because he was the reason why their system worked.

Ok Lloris made mistakes, but he was very solid against Peru and a hero vs Belgium ! And Hernandez made huge efforts and excellent passes. Dont forget Pogba who was nearly perfect too. For me, the best in working with the team and creating attacks was Lucas Hernandez. The best defender was Varane, and Mbappe did an incredible job in attack. We cannot compare these roles :/ but to make a different choice than most of other people, I would choose Lucas Hernandez who never did any mistake !

Actually the coach Didier Deschamps, and each player in the team did their job, it was unity that won, and tactics, they won it together, look a umtiti at the final game, his goal against Belgium, even hernandez and pavard complete unknown newbies played a big role in that victory, our goal keeper too, pogba and mbappé at the end, everybody, ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!

You guys will talk about it for a century judt because the France team is all about "balance to unbalance", ying yang. Game with Argentina is a good example, back laterals add the damage in atack when needed, then run back after a shoot. There MUST BE a shoot so they can come back to balance. Shoot to target with power is the key against counter attack.

1-Mbappe( incredible player,he was always dangerous in 1 v 1 situation,great runs to assist and push the team forward etc) 2- varane(amazing defender) 3- umtiti(amazing fefender even if sometimes he dives) 4- kante (great midfielder even if he didn't do shit in the final) 5- pavard (in the same situation as kante) 6- pogba (he was very slow in the group stage and in the round of 16 but he picked up in the quarter final) 7- Hernandez( was amazing in all games) 8- matuidi( amazing) 9- greizman(3 penalty goals and 1 gifted goal against Uruguay i was expecting more from him, he was very slow during the entire tournament he never dribbled forward he was playong weak like ozil from 2013) 10- loris( he made some good save but he's bad at "easy saves"(long range shots) if you know what i mean) 11- giroud(worst france player hes only good in the air he needs to work on his feet bad world cup for him)
