He'll be Croatia's manager for the next four years for sure, regardless of success in EURO '20 Qual. But to me, Dalić is more of a coach-motivator and the history showed us that some managers aren't built for league football coaching. I'm not saying he doesn't have the knowledge. In just 9 months, he turned Croatia from a depressing, inert team on the brink of not qualifying at all to a world vice champion. I'm just saying he should pick his next job rationally cause Asian football (his previous league success) just isn't on the same level as European football and there's a lot less pressure on coaches.

That's not how you approach a final. He knew Deschamps plays for result ,that he doesn't care about how his team plays that he relies on counters to win games. Suddenly? Not at all. Our team has been present at most big tournaments since England 1996 (Croatia's war for independence ended in 1995). Throughout the years we've beaten Germany, Italy, Spain, Argentina, England, Netherlands and many others. In some important matches one could say we were unlucky. In some important matches one could say we were robbed by referees. We won bronze medal at World Cup in France 1998. Now we came in second. Nothing sudden about it if you watch football tournaments. They did, however, if this World Cup showed anything, it's that some of the star players are overrated as fuck. Pogba being the primary example. I will never know why United paid so much for that kind of a player, but yet again, that's the same team that offered a new contract to Fellaini, so it doesn't really surprise me. Referee mistakes to the side for a moment, what also had a huge effect on the game was the fact that Croatia played 3 extra time games in a row, including 2 penalty shootouts. That's effectively more than 1 entire extra game that Croatia played. 3 x 30 mins of extra time PLUS the 2 penalty shootouts which are mentally exhausting. AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT the schedule of the competition gave France one extra day of rest time. Croatia went through a much tougher group stage than France did as well, playing strong physical teams like Iceland, Nigeria and of course Argentina which ended up being the easy game of the group stage in the end. So Croatia came into the finals DEFINITELY not 100% ready and DEFINITELY not in optimal condition, like France was. Croatia had some injured players, it was exhausted, had 1 day less of rest time than France who were not as exhausted in the first place, AND on top of all that was being buttfucked by the refs in front of 1 billion people. Despite all that, it still played excellent, still dominated and controlled most of the game, it attacked, played attractively and dynamically, especially in the 1st half when I felt like crying after the 45 min whistle because I couldn't believe the score after a 45 min period in which France crossed the center line TWICE and had one official attempt and like 30-something % possession. I think it's safe to say that if THIS Croatia and THIS France played 10 games, with fair refereeing, and both being equally rested and fit, Croatia would probably win 7-8 out of 10 games.

You really couldn’t ask for much more from Croatia. They played each match with heart and really played solid football the whole way through. They may have been somewhat off the beaten path, but watching them play you could see the experience and fitness that separates this team from the competition. The 3-0 swamping of Argentina put a confidence in that team that carried them through the knockout stages, and the will they had to not only play in 3 straight comeback Extra time/PK games on their way to the final, but also to play France at a very high level in the final, is honorable and would have made them worthy WC champions. Unfortunately, they happen to run into a French machine that was just reaching peak form, and while both sides didn’t play their ideal game, in the end the Croatians were wiped from their long battles and the talent of France was able to capitalize. I know the match was controversial, but I think if you run it back 10 times, France probably wins 6-7 of them. Just the deeper team with more talent at critical positions. If that was a foul by Croatia then there were definitely several instances when there should have been fouls against the French team. I question the referees knowledge, fairness and professionalism. The referee helped France. Even Roy Keane said it was not even a freekick, not even a fault committed. FIFA had made sure that France would win no matter what. Probably the most disappointing refereeing quality throughout Moscow 2018. I wasn't there on the final, could have the referee shot.

I mean Croatia lost because France played a brilliant tactical game cutting off Brozovic passes towards Modric and Rakitic. Croatia wasn't robbed, France was simply luckier in the first half and more efficient in the second. But none the less, this is a massive success for our football and massive kick in the but for our kids to push themselves and try to surpass the achievement of this great generation. Our wretched government will probably just ride the wave of euphoria and promise stadiums and camps, but the reality is that our future success, just like the present, will be the result of hard work and determination of 25 talented and stubborn young man, possibly with some help from the staff and manager Dalić, who proved to be - finally - the right man for the job. Considering how much problems we have with corruption and lack of infrastructure, this silver medal is nothing short of spectacular.
