The Magi were from the Persian religious Royalty class. They knew Astronomy, Astrology, herbal medicine, and mystic knowledge. At the time of the birth of jesus, they were most likely followers of the Mithra. They had been awaiting the coming of the savior because it was written in their ancient books. Most probably, Daniel's prophecy was also in their books.

Zarathustra, are they the same group that added paganism?
@NinaNina-ry8fn3 жыл бұрын
@Ali Yaser. No, Zoroastrianism is the oldest (monothistic) religion in the world. Much older than Judaism. Some aspects of judaism and Christianity is borrowed from both Mithraism and Zoroastruanism. No they are not pagan religions and have no idol worship in their practices.

Actually- all the early world knew an earlier version of the zodiac- before it was corrupted. This is what was referred to in Job- the Mazzeroth. The constellations were created by God, to tell the story of redemption WAY before Torah, writings and prophets. These men were astronomers of the time- Magi. All the Asian religions knew of the coming King of all nations from a virgin- Virgo, the ancient constellation of Comah is the iconic mother and child/ the desired of nations. They knew He would be born of the tribe of Judah- represented by Leo the Lion. You cannot tell any of those things from a star/supernova or conjunction. Once you understand this- many Bible verses make sense. The gifts were symbolic of Christ being a king- gold, Frankincense- Priest, and Myrrh- that he would die.

It's interesting how people believe in the Bible, but they don't believe and talk about the magicians , sorcerers and the people who talk to the dead . There real and still around to this day.

The thing I have never figured out about the magi bringing a large amount of gold frankincense, myrrh and any other gifts, are what happened to these gifts? Wouldn't Mary and Joseph be fabulously rich afterwards? Where did they store these gifts?

Yes, Magi were Median and Medians were Iranian peoples. Just like the Skythians, Sarmatians, Bactrians, Persians, Parthians, Sassanids, etc. were all Iranian peoples who formed the Persian empire and ruled much of the known world for over a millennia. Magi were not from Babylon but from Ekbatana the capital of the Median empire located in Eastern Iran.

Was wondering...what the story is behind The Yule Log? What is the story behind The Yuletide. Why is December 25th chosen as the birthday of Jesus Christ? Someone told me December 25th is not written in the Word. Just confused about why these traditions are kept...yet are apparently, as I have been told...are not biblical. I always thought these traditions...were biblical. Please help. Thanks for any responses and help with this.

The bible no where says three Magi short for magician. it says Wise Men and no where does it mention three. They theorize from the three gifts. Sad we do not stick to what the Bible says period. Daniel was a wise man and in Daniel 2:27 he makes a distinction between the Wise Men, Astrologers, magicians and soothsayers. Daniel and his companions weren't magi, short for magicians they were Wise Men God had given wisdom and understanding to.

Good teaching, but look again at scripture & take it to the Lord...He was conceived at Feast of Trumpets 7 BC, born Wheat Firstfruits aka Shavuot 6 BC, weaned/anointed Dec 5 BC at 18 months (John the Baptist 2 yrs old in Ein Karem, a few miles away near Jerusalem). Born in Bethlehem (Luke 2) at Shavuot after census (no room at the inn because of Shavuot, Bethlehem 5 miles from Jerusalem, commanded feast for hundreds of thousands of men), stayed in Bethlehem but moved to a home by 18 months old where Star of Bethlehem led magi to it for his weaning/anointing feast. Hebrews did not celebrate birth, but weaning of the firstborn manchild (see Genesis 21:8). After the magi left the Bethlehem home late December 5 BC, they died to Egypt & returned Spring 4 BC after Herod slaughtered the innocents (December 28-29) in Bethlehem & surrounding areas & got suddenly very ill & died before Passover after a solar eclipse (per Josephus). Matthew 2 says they returned to Nazareth, where both Mary & Joseph lived before Jesus’ birth, not Bethlehem, because Herod’s son may still have been looking for the manchild king in Bethlehem. Beautiful story-the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction fits the Revelation 12 telling of this story perfectly! The manchild’s catching up to the throne was His anointing by the magi at His weaning.
