Was down there last spring enroute to Morocco via Barcelona, broke yet really wanted to tap into Andalusia, I couldn't get a hotel or hostel because so much was booked and expensive, so I had to sleep outside between a couple different areas shown in this video. Next day spent the entire day exploring some of what you've shared. Got a lot of photos. Definitely nostalgic this and yes I was on some RAS MOOR vibrations too to see and rest in the spaces of my ancestors, with roots between this land america and Africa often nomadic trying to piece things together and figure out how to thrive my way. I am Algerian and I can tell you that the Moors were black. In modern Morocco, which was the country of the original Moors, people still have black or very brown skin. The only Moroccans who are neither mixed race nor black are the Moroccans of the North, whose ancestors were not Moors but White Caucasian Numidians, that is to say Algerians from the Aures. Numidia, which was modern Algeria, was composed of white Berbers, and Mauritania, which was modern Morocco, was black. The confusion between white Moors and black Moors came from the Romans who administratively divided Numidia and gave it the name Mauritania, and at that time Numidia included northern Morocco, which is why northern Morocco is still white and the rest of Morocco is black or mixed race. Have you ever even been to Morocco??? In the south of Morocco (Not western sahara) you find the biggest berber group in Morocco, the soussi berbers who range from fair to brown skin. You'll only really find black people down in the sahara, as in the sahrawis. The Moors are described as being nomadic berber tribes inhabiting the **atlas** mountains. Numidia lasted just as long as Mauretania before they both were subjegated by the Romans, so the ancient berber kingdoms of Algeria had no influence at all. Though yes they are lighter in the north due to the geography being a more mediterranean climate with green pastures while the south has a more arid and hotter climate, which explains the brown skin, though still not black. I hope you can inform yourself properly before talking so confidently about things like this. I get the surge in Pan-Africanism, but believing that there hasn't been a large separation between North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa is mad. The only sub-saharan people found in the northern deserts are primarily nomadic groups with low populations. The biggest being the Tuaregs in Algeria. Black people did exist in Morocco back then, but they constituted a minority just like in todays Morocco, where people with sub-saharan ancestry are a minority and if they aren't from the western sahara region, then they are most likely of immigrant background as well from West Africa most of the time. So yes, some Moors were black, but they were definitely not predominantly black. The common Moors would most likely have been the berber people of Morocco from the anti-atlas to the high-atlas and if the sub-saharan people aren't from the western sahara region, then they are most likely of immigrant background as well from West Africa most of the time.

I am grateful for the discussion of the Moors. I wish that the creator of this video would have shown more evidence of the splendor of Moorish architecture as demonstrated in the Alcazar. The cobblestone patterns in stone, the construction of the ceilings (especially of one area that was infused with natural light) and doors in wood and stone are some of the greatest examples that I saw for myself. Also the gardens with fountains and sewage systems that were introduced to southern Spain are other examples of the genius of these people who, I learned earlier this week, were some of the first inhabitants of North America. The millions of darker skinned Spanish people - Or Spaniards - have Arab like noses and lips and straight hair. If the Moors were really black African looking people with extremely curly hair or afros there would be much, much more evidence of that among the Spaniards of today. My dna test says that most of my ancestral lineage comes from Andalusia Spain and the Azores Islands of Portugal. My parents were born in Mexico and Brazil. Mexican side is majority Spanish with some purepecha indigenous people from Michoacan. My Brazilian side is primarily Portuguese with indigenous from Minas Gerais and a little Yoruban African. My dna test also showed North African/West Asian (aka the Middle East) which I assume I got from the Moors in Andalusia. Also a small amount of Coptic Egyptian and Jewish.
