Honestly, I don't see Ike getting cut at all. Not only is he a really well liked character with the Fire Emblem community, he's a major favorite from Intelligent Systems too as they still promote him like crazy. He's likely staying due to company bias.

While he is a huge fan favorite within the FE fanbase and IS, I'm not sure if he'd return in a reboot roster. Marth, Robin, and Byleth make sense to return over him because of their games’ prominence in the series, while Ike is mainly just a fan favorite. If 4 FE characters were returning then I think Ike would come back, but if it's 3 or less then idk. I do think he would have a good chance of returning as DLC like how Roy returned in Smash 4's DLC

As a Mewtwo main, this sounds right to me unfortunately. He's always an afterthought. Planned for 64 but didn't make the cut, one of the last characters added to Melee, planned for Brawl but time restraints got in the way, only made it into Sm4sh because of DLC, and made it into Ultimate by default when "Everyone is Here" was decided. Additionally Mewtwo isn't as relevant in more recent years. Finally he's 4th in line for gen 1 with Pikachu and Jigglypuff being in the original roster and Charizard possibly the most popular gen 1 even above Pikachu (maybe). Gotta make room for other generations, so Mewtwo will likely be on the cutting room floor again... *sigh

It crushed me when Mewtwo was the only cut character from Melee to Brawl, despite being the only non-clone that was cut. And I could only shake my head when Mewtwo was left off the base roster of Smash 4. I didn't even buy that game until Mewtwo was available as DLC. Unfortunately, I anticipate that a lot of villains will be cut from the next Smash, except Bowser, King Dedede, and Ganondorf (who will probably still be based off of Captain Falcon's moveset). So, Mewtwo is gone. Wolf is gone. Ridley is gone. Dark Samus is gone. K. Rool is gone. Despite these characters having huge hype around their inclusion in Ultimate, Ridley and K, Rool wound up being bottom tier and unpopular. Dark Samus is only popular because her moveset is identical to Samus, who is higher tier. And Wolf, although high-tier, I just don't see making it in when there's so many people wishing someone like Slippy or Krystal got in instead (mind you, I don't think Slippy or Krystal will ever make it in, but I do think it will be an excuse to remove Wolf anyway). Yeah, I don't have high hopes for the next Smash. Especially since the villains are all my mains. Oh, forgot about Bowser Jr., as he's the only villain I don't care about, which means he's probably going to make it in.

One character I would definitely add is Toad, he is long overdue, honestly he should've been added at Melee-Brawl, yet he's not here in Ultimate, add Toadsworth, Toadette and Captain Toad as alts and there we have it! As for Peach's Neutral B, idk make it like a Mario RPG Refrence or smthn like a huge slap or umbrella attack. Only things I would change about your roster is add back Falco because he's been in every game since melee, and I enjoy playing him a lot and I think he's more worthy of being added in than Wolf, even though I like playing Wolf as much if not more than the other spacies. Also just change the Fire Emblem series a bit but it's a mess in smash, I'm still figuring out on what I'd do personally with the series in my own imaginary Smash 6 game. Great Video btw, I subbed

Pikmin is a prominent Nintendo franchise that's unique enough to warrant having a fighter. • I think the Sonic franchise is long overdue for a new rep. If not a new Sonic rep, then whoever the Persona 6 protagonist is. Persona is massive and is basically guaranteed a spot in Smash imo.

This is actually one of the better cut rosters I've seen out there, the only things I'd change in regards to 1st partys are cutting Daisy and Yoshi and keep Olimar and Ike. Your third party cuts are also probably one of the better ones I've seen (As much as it pains me to cut Joker). Although I strongly disagree with the choice of Square Enix rep, here's how I view the likelihood of each SE rep returning 4th) Sephiroth: As much as it pains me to cut my favourite video game villan oat, there are simply just better Final Fantasy reps to chose from. 3rd) Hero: Granted I'm not the most knowledgeable on Dragon Quest and even though I know DQ is massive in Japan, western audiences also need to be considered and not only do I think DQ is the least iconic of the Square Enix main 3 and it's also the one I hear the least about. Although I do want to preface that there is a GREAT difference in the likelihood of Sephiroth returning and Hero returning, especially with the unfortunate passing of Akria Toriama, keeping Hero could be Nintendo's way if honouring his legacy. 2nd) Sora: Now I don't know how well versed you are in Kingdom Hearts, but as a KH fan that keeps up with KH news, Tetsuya Nomoura (The creator and main character designer of Kingdom Hearts) has confirmed in a somewhat recent interview that it wasn't actually Disney that was the main issue in getting Sora in Smash. Nomoura tells us that Disney said it was 'a great idea' and to go for it, it was actually Nomoura himself that had the biggest issues with Sora in Smash as he didn't know how well he'd mesh with Smash and the other characters in it, although he followed that statement by saying he was very happy with how he turned out and would be happy to let Sora back into Smash. With the support of Square Enix, Tetsuya Nomoura AND Disney for Sora in Smash, I don't think Nintendo would be so easy to let go of such a feat as getting ahold of Kingdom Hearts. 1st) Cloud: What Ryu is for fighting games, Cloud is for JRPG's. If Square Enix was given the choice of only ONE of their characters in Smash, I'd be genuinely suprised if it wasn't Cloud. Plus he's also had a great resurgence in popularity with the FF7 remake trilogy, I'd hope if he were to come back he'd get his Remake/Rebirth English VA. Granted I could be COMPLETELY wrong on all of these but that's just my take on this. If I were given the choice of a new Square Enix rep in Smash I'd choose Neku Sakuraba because I am thirsty for new Twewy content, but Twewy is pretty niche so I'm not gonna hold out hope.

I definitely feel like when anyone has an idea like this, they have one of two thought processes: 1. Echo fighters are the most boring and should be cut first. 2. Echo fighters are easy to make and should be kept wherever possible. I personally lean more towards the second option

I'm shocked that you would cut Dark Samus because they could just use her move sets from Prime 2 and 3 that's just my opinion nobody come after me I just think Dirk Samus is one of the better villains in Metroid

Probably never played a Metroid game, let alone the Prime series. Not surprising, as Metroid is pretty niche. The vast majority of people I know (and apparently even some 'game journalists') think Dark Samus is just Samus with a slightly different suit, who has her own character slot for some reason (ala, Toon Link or Young Link). Yeah, Dark Samus could have been so much more in this game. But let's be honest, if Dark Samus didn't make it in as a clone character, it probably would have never made it in at all.

I'd want Aigis to replace Joker in the next game. Persona has become so popular in just a matter of years, and definitely deserves a spot on Smash's roster. But I think another Persona game should be represented, and 3 is the best choice (and my personal favorite). Any character would do, but Aigis' moveset potential is almost limitless with the amount of options she has

To be frank, I can't really see them passing up the opportunity to change Ganondorf to his TotK design. It's just *FAR* too popular to ignore, plus the whole "Zelda reps from multiple eras" thing was mostly a compromise since the entire Triforce Trio weren't in a game together since Twilight Princess at the time of Ultimate's development. That's no longer an issue now, & I'd imagine that Zelda will follow suit since Link already has a Wild era design & Ganondorf is almost certainly getting his as well.

The space between Peach and Daisy would be either Toad or Pauline, the extra Donkey Kong character is probably dixie, Zelda characters on fan rosters are notoriously unpredictable, but based on the placement it's likely one heroic character and one villain. I couldn't even begin to hazard a guess, but let's say Impa and Pig Ganon. Extra Metroid character I'm guessing Raven Beak. That, or Sylux. Extra Kirby character is Waddle Dee. based on the position of the open Pokémon spot after Charizard, that's likely a gen 3 Pokémon. I'm guessing it's one of the game's starters? and also a gen 9 Pokémon, most people seem to want Meowscarada. New Fire Emblem character is Alear, New Xenoblade character is Noah, Mio, or a combination of the two. for the rest the only thing I can even sorta reasonably guess is the new Namco character after Pac-man. I'm not too up on my Namco, personally I'd liek to See Lloyd Irving, but I dunno what you'd add.

@@popstruck2 In its purest form, Smash has turned into MUGEN but officially licensed with smash ultimate. If they want to return to reboot the series, they would at least need a quantity of a base roster like smash 4 and then add more with DLCs. Many of the DLC fighters were love letters to their games of origin and just like how melee still has a scene, there may still be a following for smash ultimate. Unless Nintendo does a gigachad move and makes smash ultimate plus for switch 2 and it just adds more content, but imo this ship should just stay as it is and introduce a new smash game with new mechanics

Great list overall. The returning characters and cuts make a lot of sense and is what I could see happening in a reboot roster that brings around that number of characters back. The only cut that feels off is Olimar, since Pikmin is a major ongoing IP for Nintendo so cutting him doesn't seem likely. I'd personally replace Little Mac since he doesn't have as much Smash legacy as other characters from dead Nintendo Ips like Fox, Ness, Captain Falcon (outside of 99) and Pit. As for who the newcomers are, my guesses are Captain Toad, Dixie Kong, Impa, Skull Kid, Raven Beak, Bandana Waddle Dee, Sceptile, Tinkaton, Alear, Noah and Mio as echo swap characters like Pyra and Mythra, Octoling, Howard Twins, Ring Fit Trainee, Monster Hunter and Crash

Based on how a lot of Mii’s in Smash 4 got series representation in Ultimate, I think the most likely candidates for newcomers would be something like this… 1. Geno (Mario RPG) 2. Pokémon Rep from Gen 10 or 11 3. Shantae 4. Shovel Knight 5. Travis Touchdown 6. Doomguy 7. Dante 8. Monster Hunter 9. Zero (Mega Man X) 10. Undertale or Deltarune Rep after that, I think Lloyd Irving or Issac from Golden Sun are also pretty likely! Other than that…after Steve & Sora got in the game, i don’t doubt ANY series being able to join Smash now, literally endless possibilities…Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Mortal Kombat, Fortnite, Hatsune Miku, TouHou, Guilty Gear, Nier Automata, Dead Or Alive, Yakuza, Danganonpa, and even Playstation or (more) Microsoft are all fully possible :)

Some of the characters can very easily just be alt costumes for others. Daisy, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, Rosalina, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy, Young Link, Dark Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, other Link incarnations, Dark Pit, Isabelle, Demise, Ken, etc similar to how Bowser Jr and the Koopalings work.

I can see shadow the hedgehog getting in if they make another smash since he’s highly requested. He could use Chaos Spear as his side B, Chaos Control as his recovery, and Chaos Blast as his Down B. His neutral b could be him using his gun, if joker can get away with it so can Shadow lol. Everyone says Super Shadow should be his final smash but lowkey I want to see him fire the eclipse cannon. Maybe he can chaos control someone into space and then chaos control into the space colony ark itself and fire a massive laser which causes the caught character to plummet to Earth

Robin is a good character, but no one cares for them while Ike is popular, is still kept relevant and has new moveset potential. 3 reps is what it should be kept at and if they want there's can be alts like Alph and Olimar but with ascetic changes. Echo Fighters in general need to be costumes and alts with small changes with at most a new special move and gimmick tweak like Daisy not having a float and Dark Samus having poison with her energy attacks.

Shadow as a semi clone with Chaos Spear for Side b, chaos control for up b (behaving like the longer you hold the button the further you go and it acts like witchtime if you use it on stage a few frames before Shadow actually teleports), him being slightly slower but does more damage and new animations.

I never said Banjo wasn’t important, just that he wasn’t as iconic as other characters in the grand scheme of gaming history. When we cut characters like Simon, Cloud, and Snake who are way more iconic and recognizable to overall gamers than Banjo you can see why it is more likely for him to be cut, especially when he is up against Minecraft Steve. This is just my opinion though and is a fictional scenario! You are entitled to think whatever you want, just wanted to add some more explanation!

@@orsonzedd Simon and Snake are important to Nintendo history, as both Castlevania and Metal Gear originated on the NES! As for more N64 reps, Impa, Skull Kid, and Paper Mario. There are also other Rare characters like Conker and Joanna Dark. The emphasis in the roster was on first party characters, so I had to cut a lot of third parties. I do see your argument for Banjo and I do want to see him in the next game, I just find it unlikely!

😳🤨 Jigglypuff should not get cut from smash. He's one of the Original fighters from 64. Sakurai didn't even cut any 64 fighters for the past 3 games. And he's the only original that got cut from this...
