There was no CGI used in the making of Ghostbusters...all the special effects were done with classic cinema special effects techniques...such as puppetry and compositing. 👍

I honestly thought it was CGI 😯 Creating those special effects frame by frame must've been seriously time consuming back then.

How Venkman would pronounce "Hittites" -- that never occurred to me before. 😆 Cartoon trivia: The name of the movie wasn't entirely original. There had already been a live action kid's TV show called Ghost Busters starring Larry Storch, Forrest Tucker and a gorilla. The gorilla was the brains of the operation, but otherwise it was a similar team of ghost chasers. The movie production paid a fee to Filmation to obtain the rights to use the name. After the success of the movie, Filmation took advantage of their ownership of the original IP to produce a new cartoon series called Ghostbusters, a continuation of their own live-action series, and nothing to do with the movie (except a new ghost logo suspiciously similar to the movie's). This was followed by a cartoon series from DIC based on the movie, called The Real Ghostbusters, to avoid confusion. DIC's Real Ghostbusters was imaginative and has a decent cult following. Venkman and company were altered slightly, keeping the same personality types but drastically altering their physical appearance. That little green ghost got a name, Slimer, and became a friendly mascot.

I’m a reference librarian. If I was in the stacks, and the books started floating off of the shelves, I’d freak out. The opening scene was filmed at Columbia University in the Butler Library on 114th Street in Manhattan.

I remember when libraries had those index card files!

Moving books around is one thing, but messing up the card catalog like that is justified grounds for war upon the poltergeists responsible.

You’re right. It would take so much work to take each book off the shelf and make new cards. I remember the card catalog from when I was a kid. We use the Vega Discover online system now.

Any humanoid with opposable thumbs can deal devastating damage 🚶🏻♂️. Ah, a dryer sheet would be best if non-living things work 😂

It’s not that the diners didn’t see anything. You have to think of it in NYC terms. It’s more that someone running up to the windows and behaving like Louis is probably a fairly regular occurrence there, and it looks to be a very upper class place, so they just act like “Hmph, that’s the fifth one this week. Anyway, what were you saying?” It might be worth it to give the hamster a try, but I think that it’s just in Gozer’s nature to be destructive in any form, so even the normally harmless would likely be catastrophic.

Hello, if you don’t mind, can you do a movie reaction on a movie called, 1492: Conquest of Paradise. Adventure/Drama (1992). It stars Gérard Depardieu, Siqourney Weaver, Armand Assante. It portrays a version of the travels to the New World by the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and the effect this had on indigenous peoples. Directed by Ridley Scott.

I'll add the movie to my list. Thanks for your suggestion! 😊
