If I put it in WC3 terms, the eyes are units/npcs that cast the corresponding effect of Deathblight, soDestined Death effects and NMM are HP removal rather than damage and therefore ignore dmg immunity. Same reason why ot works on the Winter Lanterns.

Yeah that is absolutely what's happening, invisible NPCs immune to damage and statuses, but those spells bypass the immunity by draining HP directly

Melina is the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and there doesn’t appear to be any association at all in the DLC apart from Messmer being her brother. I’m not seeing a link between the Crucible and Godskins at all. In the trailer we see Marika at the gate of divinity, presumably transitioning into a goddess as we know she came from the Land of Shadows and we know Miquella is following in her footsteps and we ultimately meet him at the gate of divinity as well. I don’t think it has anything to do with the Gloam-Eyed Queen, Elden Ring lore is vague and suggestive but not THAT vague.

@@tristanlambert658 melina is her own character But is clearly Afflicted with something as we can see at the Frenzy ending I am not saying the gloam eyed queen is Dead and gone (I personally think melina is an emperyean for the gloam eyed queen) I am saying there was previous incarnation of the gloam eyed queen and she lived in tandem with the crucible It can be speculated she lived their and had her own rule The realm of shadow is a death realm after all Marika and her people lived alongside hornsent until the seduction and betrayal We Know maliketh beat the shit outta the Gloam eyed queen So it must have been in the realm of shadow As once marika became a god she left messmer behind to purge the hornsent She never went back She removed destined death from the universe And gave it to maliketh (he a literally beast he beat a nigh godlike being who controlled death and did not get touched once) Melina seems to be the next gloam eyed queen (maybe as a mandatory reaper but it was not needed anymore since marika removed death) So it can all work as some of it has to be true be cause of the timeline The previous gloam eyed queen probably lived in tandem because the land of shadow was her realm most likely and the hornsent worshipping the crucible doesn't matter to her because unlike the crucible wich all life was once blended together She is its opposite death The apostles and nobles who served her had bodies not unlike the crucible They where inhuman I think its 2 sides of the same coin type deal Until marika made a move to become a god after her people where taken Tortured into submission to believe their purpose was flesh glue Melina has a connection to the GEQ I think most of her children have a connection or influence of other forces or outer gods I think the result of removing the need of a reaper Resulted in godwyn being afflicted and creating? Deathroot He is the prince of death But deathroot canonically started with him Maybe the world was trying to make a new incarnation of death He seems to have a different realm one of water He is turning into a half fish creature The only other pure water based creatures are spirit jellyfishes I think marika has a plan to remove banish or kill these influences and outer gods And its us We kill the elden beast that has controll over marika We kill metyr who controls the eldem beast We banish the frenzy outside of space and time We stop the rot god temporarily We Stop the formless mother We kill the omen twins and Their omen blood dissipates on death We kill the abyssal snake We kill the last fire giant and the remnants of the fell god We "kill" the gloam eyed queen in melina So when marika is the only god with no restraints she can truly do as she wants I think she will revive her kids without the curses and Afflictions And get true peace I think marika this entire time wants her family to be safe And will do anything to make sure she has the power to make it so Losing her People and family at the shaman village broke her But i think if she was the only god the true god She could probably Bring them back too Messmer tried to find a way we know he has a Lab and Research space but his power and resources were limited he is an abandoned demigod after all Even still He Protected his mothers home I think messmer is the only one to truly know Everything or at least most of marika's actions Besides maliketh her half brother Unrelated but fuck the hornsent

The Gloameyed Queen was obviously the original ruler of the lands, and the Hornsent's obsession with saintdom (ala shokushinbutsu) lines up with the death fan that the Gloameyed Queen was. The spiral of her sword is just the final nail in the coffin.

Melina isn't the Gloam Eyed Queen, at least there's no definite answer. I used to believe the theory hoping to have confirmation in the DLC, but we didn't. The GEQ might actually be, or be associated with Saint Trina (the Putrescent Knight is named "GloamEyedKnight" in the game files). Still not a definitive answer, it could be a "Velka-situation" if you have played the Dark Souls series.

@@TheYouthEnergy my stance is that the dlc didn’t provide anything tangible that went against the Melina GEQ theory. I’d argue it only provided further points of speculation, such as Messmer as a whole. It is implied that he’s Melina’s twin as his kindling references his younger sister who also shared a vision of fire, which further links Melina to fire. But beyond that, and heading into speculative territory, I think Melina was born with the power of black flame in contrast to Messmer being born with his unique flame as well. It fits the theme of paired demigods having contrasting elements, in this case, it’d be that Messmer’s flame had the power to burn away all physical elements while Melina’s flame could burn the metaphysical. So when Messmer burnt the Hornsent, he left behind the black shadows because his fire couldn’t burn the soul, where as that’s exactly what Melina’s did. Either way, all of what I just said aside, I don’t think there’s ANYTHING that contests the GEQ territory that the Frenzied Flame ending establishes. There is absolutely no other explanation for Melina’s appearance in that cutscene aside from a connection to the Gloam Eyed Queen, and that connection goes beyond what we just physically see, but lorewise it makes sense. We see Melina open her ‘sealed’ eye only after we defeat Maliketh and unleash destined death, well we also know that Maliketh sealed away the queens godslaying black flame and used it to create destined death. So thereby killing Maliketh and unleashing destined death, we restored Melina’s long lost powers to her, which is really the only logical explanation for her appearance in the FF ending.

you don't even really need it. take that formerly-completely-useless incant that removes deathblight build-up and use it. it only requires 11 int and faith so anyone can use it, with at most two stat talismans or one talisman and one int-boosting headpiece.

From what I've seen , if u use anything that makes u harder to notice then u are safe from the eyes

I got to the dungeon and tested it. It appears hidden body gives you a safer distance before they start accumulating blight unto you. As well as the build up bar being incredibly lower. I casted about 5 hidden body spells throughout the dungeon without the bar ever going above 30% Armor with high death resist I did have to cure about 3-4 times.

It's a catacombs with the gimmick that those eyes are rapidly building on deathblight in several rooms/hallways so you need to rush and/or sneak past them It's called the "Scorpion River Catacombs" and is in the Rauh Ruins area of the map
