get a harder wheel, like an 82a compound. Abec 11 big zigs are great, and the lemon ones are pretty hard, from what i remember.

Practice doing it without the jump, just step from a toe side carve to a one foot heel side carve. Once you can do that, work on the jump.

i use this when boarding on the side walks(i hane no hills in ohio. at least none i wont get ticked for skating. so i use this when popping cracks...yaknow, pump the board and pop it off the edge of the sidewalk. i can get almost a foot in the air just by that... but when pushing mid push and ive gotta pop up m all...LOOK AT THAT FOOT. ITS NOT ON THE BOARD. YAY. didnt know it had a name rofl
