I'm so glad to see you include the children in the decluttering. One of the best skills a child can learn is sorting and classifying-- clean-up and organization is the perfect activity to build these skills.

I did not have to do this because my children did not have that many! I’m in my 80s and am surprised at how much children have these days.❤

One thing I like to do is keep any toy with tiny pieces (like puzzles) completely out of reach! It has eliminated A TON of mess!!!

This was the 1st time I actually got my kids involved in decluttering, and I got rid of so much more. The kids actually told me about a lot more toys they didn't want anymore. It was soo nice.

Have you considered donating the toys to a local children's hospital or have the kids gift their old toys to kids in need? My mom had us do that, and it really helped us to recognize how blessed we were. It also made it easier for us to let the toys go. 🧸 😊

@OneofTheMostHigh She didn't mention anything about a specific place she donates, though, so I just thought I would suggest it just in case she hadn't ever considered it before. I wasn't criticizing in any way. I hope it didn't come off that way. That wasn't my intention.

My favourite part of decluttering videos is to see exactly what got donated out by people. It helps me reconsider my own item if I have the same. For example Sarah Therese decluttered the spare plastic layers from some of her spice jars and it took me another couple of weeks after seeing her do that to do the same with mine that I've been holding on for - literally for no reason for years. On the other hand my son didn't get a lot of use from the silver round metallic thing from the lovevery kit, so I was planning on donating that one, but it surprised me, that you kept it. Maybe other kids would appreciate it more so it might be worth keeping for another baby. In general toy/activity reviews would be great and hopefully easy content for you. Especially from a family who has multiple kids and experience with the toys from different personalities. Bonus points for reviewing some more popular or expensive items, that are always a thing to consider twice before purchasing ! :) I think this could be an easy backup video whenever you're at a loss. Bonus points for the kids doing it in a "haul" kind of way as Eloise used to do shopping with you

Wow, THANK YOU for acknowledging the mental load toy organization and rotation takes. It's so worth it, but monthly it takes a whole day of lots of standing, staring, thinking and rearranging to make a good toy rotation work. You never hear or see that online.

Yes! Decluttering anything in one’s house takes a lot of pulling things out, deciding what catagory it’s going in, and putting rest back where it goes, or maybe going into a new spot or room, putting things for donation in a specific container, then sometime physically taking donated items to thrift store, and lastly putting the items u don’t want for home or donation, into the trash! Decluttering is a long process, and I always thought that this is one of these hidden jobs that some people don’t realize has to be done, along with everything else a wife and mother have to do!

If you put rubber bands around each of the puzzles boxes, you can store them upright without worrying the lids might come open!

My favourite part of decluttering videos is to see exactly what got donated out by people. It helps me reconsider my own item if I have the same. For example Sarah Therese decluttered the spare plastic layers with holes from the spice jars she didn't use the layer with and it took me another couple of weeks after seeing her do that to do the same with mine. My son didn't get a lot of use from the silver round mettalic with wooden handle thing from the lovevery kit, so I will probably donate that one, but it surprised me, that you kept it. Maybe other kids would appreciate it more so it might be worth keeping for another baby. If you have the footage, I'd love a video of all the objects, even if it is 3 mins long. :) I also love seeing exactly what ended up where and don't mind seeing the standing around and trying different things. Love seeing how the home evolves bit by bit, including how the things - inevitably - get moved. My guess for example is that eventually you will find a different system for those puzzles from the chest (that area seems to have been a difficult one for quite some time) and something like pretend play clothes will end up there. We shall see.

It’s so easy to recover dry playdoh, not sure why everyone throws it out instead. Just add some water, close the lid and let it sit. If there was too much water, let it dry up a bit. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My daughter is 5 and I have started to bring out a group of toys (usually ones I know she isn’t very interested in) and say “okay, at least half of these need to be donated” and she’s pretty good about it since she gets to choose. We also don’t have as much room as you so she understand that her birthday month and Christmas month are both times we have to purge to make room for the new, which definitely motivates her.

I think the toys are more important to the parents than children. If those toys have not been played with in a while, then they are not important. Children don't even need toys for stimulation or creativity.

I have been decluttering as well in anticipation of Christmas and the new year. I included my daughter and she was RUTHLESS! Hahah. I really love how she doesn’t hold too much value onto materialistic things and is willing to part with things no longer serves her. It’s the best! Not sure how my other kids will be in the future since they’re still toddlers, but hopefully we will continue in the same direction. Loved this video! 🥰

We definitely do not have the space for toy rotation. I would probably forget about it as well. I am definitely and out of sight out of mind person. I just keep a basket of toys and that’s it, but our older 3 have outgrown toys. So they only play with legos.

This is just my personal opinion from my personal experience, but I am so grateful that we have a small collection of toys and absolutely no books. We love reading but I get them all from the library and children don’t need as many toys as we think. My children have Legos, trains, and marble tracks and that is it! Other than that we have a small homeschool closet with craft supplies and the rest of our playing and enjoyment come from real life! Going out, cooking, swinging, baking, playing with each other instead of toys

I watch your videos and almost grieve a little. You are the mother that I always dreamt of myself being. Before kids I always saw myself being a certain type of mom and having a certain type of household and unfortunately that isn’t my reality. It makes my heart so sad because I don’t know that I will ever get to that place. Between the state of my marriage and how severely childbearing affected my mental health…*sigh* I’m clinging as best I can to the hope that God will help me to get there soon because my babies are growing so fast and I hate that they have to experience this unhealthy version of me at such developmentally fundamental ages😭 * end of my little vent session. Thank you for reading this.

I agree with you when you say it’s harder to declutter as your kids get older. The other day I thought I had donated a baby alive my 3y/o was asking me for and my stomach dropped. Fortunately we found her. I would never want to get rid of something my kids aren’t ready to part with just because I feel like they’re done with it.

If you are worried about puzzles/games spilling out when you pull them out of the chest, definitely recommend putting them in reusable bags inside the box! Just as a fail safe so the pieces don't mix together.
@foofookachoo1136
@foofookachoo1136 6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Delilah arranged the puzzles on their sides, which is a good idea, but very small hands might not be able to pull the boxes up and out, without the lids becoming partially open, spilling some of the contents. So THAT is a good idea to keep parts in a bag!!

Wow! Your kids are so well behaved. I have only one (6mo) and she is refusing to play on her own longer than 5 minutes. It's difficult for me to eat my breakfast as she is protesting that I am not with her on the floor. I often end up doing things with one hand and holding her in the other one... More advanced taskas have to wait for my husband to get back from work. Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong? Should I just let her cry when I am cooking/cleaning? Has anyone had that problem but found a solution? Pls help!

You are not alone with that. In exceptional cases I let my child cry while eating, but he was always right next to me. It was a hard time and I lost too much weight.
