I study the scale or got it under my fingers decades ago...( twightZONE) You can explain it...bu if you cant get it under your fingers..it's harder. Plus Im familar with PATTERNS and can make the transition on the B string. It over laps..example A melodic or harmonic min...( possible C , E, G#, AUG) A melodic min b2 = Bb lyd AUG #6 ( in a nutshell it's just a WHOLE TONE with a maj7 passing/option note) I can keep it simple A min.....C aug D aug/Bb....E aug or Mix b2, b6...or Mix b6 into A min ...............Or........D mix #4.. I can simply play D 3, b7....against the Open B, E... then simply hammer/pull the #4 with my pinky Or I can even do the SAME THING over the B chord B aug,...B7 or B #4, 7.... Then slide Up 2 frets to Db/C#...or the N6 chord of C MAJOR or min or the so call....TRITONE SUB of G7...( which I know I could alter to whatever) but AUGMENTED..if you want I could play C# dim into D min G7 into C or................A7 /AUG into D min G7 into C...if you want. So it''ll be just like playing C# aug or phrygian dominant or phrygian b4 into F# harmonic min or Gb Harmonic MAJOR.. If I play G7 into C MAJOR....it's bascailly the SAME.... ............G7 is the N6 of F#/Gb...Harmonic A min.....B #4, b7..agaisnt open B, E.....C# aug...against open B and E Then F# min E aug or E7 into A min or this... Eb maj7 or AUG Ab min G AUG..Then B aug..B #4, b7...ect E7 into A min chord.. It's actaully EASY to play A min Bb aug into Eb Maj7/C min.. The Ab minor is just Lyd #2 or Lyd b3 of Eb Harmonic MAJOR or C Harmonic min The G7 or AUG is just phry b4 or phry domiant Just use the same concept of playing B dim or AUG into C Maj/Amin or B7/G into E7 into A min Just use your PINKY to play the G note( #5/b6) on the low E or F note on the D string... If you slide down to E7 or aug into A min... or if you slide UP 2 frets to G# dim or AUG ( loc b4 or loc b4, bb7) A min D7/Bb Eb min Gb MAJOR ( F# aug) G# aug into A min or just make F# dyad..against the open top 4 strings. It overlaps A min F# aug....G# aug or E7 or aug into A min You can even play B min as B dor b2 to A melodic min F# 7 or AUG into B min E7 into A min or A min F# 3, b7...then #4, B7...Then shuffle your finger a little C aug/F#...C# aug E7 into A min or C aug/F# B min E7 or aug into A min If you play the Bb note ( A Mel odic min b2) maj3 of F# While playing F# 3, b7 at the second fret.... Just shuffle your INDEX finger between Bb ( A string) and G# note on G string The C note is the #4 ( with your PINKY) Then C# aug then E7 into A min ( the b7 of E is #5/b6 of F#) If you FINGER PICK it..It sounds totally SICK

Hi, this is not crystal clear for me this time :( So if you may, we can use this scale on ANY # 5 chords minor and major ? When we talk about Minor chords it has to be a min MAJ7 only ? the pattern you give at 10'50'' is for any 7/9 chords adding this #11 for an outside sound ? Arf i don't even no if my questions are cristal clear :)

Hi, You can play whole tone scales on many different chords, for instance over augmented chords. A minor augmented chord doesn't really exist because its an inversion of a major chord: A-C-E# = A-C-F = 1st inversion of a F major chord. I a minMaj7 chord there's an augemented chord included in the top notes: AmMaj7=a-c-e-g#. c-e-g# = Caug. The pattern at 10:50 can indeed be used for dominant chords. By this you'll add a #11. like dom7#11 for instance.

Keep playing guitar, add to your knowledge of theory gradually. When you learn a new song, learn to play the vocal melodies, bass melodies, keyboard melodies, then, this is important, figure out what scale they all reside within. For pop, rock, most metal, this should be pretty easy, as they will usually all reside within only one scale! That will be a major or natural minor scale (which are actually the same intervals anyway, just starting a different point on the sequence). Understand this part of music construction first. Then move on to less often used tools like whole-tone scale, diminished, augmented. Keep playing the music you like, have fun!
