Does the Jura 9 make regular coffee - say drip style? I am interested in the option of both drip style coffee and espresso and there aren't much options for combo machine that was super easy to clean/maintain as well. Just wondering if it tastes good enough say if we compare it to Bonavita or Technivorm. Thanks.

Most of the super auto machines make what is considered a long coffee. That is they use the espresso brewing process and put more water through the coffee puck. Some people like that (like me! I prefer it to drip coffee) and some don't. The key to making a longer coffee is adjusting the grinder to a coarser setting to avoid over extraction There are few machines that switch to use low pressure pulse brewing to make a drip style coffee. I've ordered espresso from a local coffee shop using a marzocco machine. The crema looks dark brown syrupy and thick. How come nespresso and jura looks nothing like the marzocco machine?

Hi K, thanks for the question. The LM is a commercial machine which uses a much larger coffee dose and they likely have a high-end grinder dialed in to the proper grind size for best result. Nespresso pre-ground coffee is dosing ~7-9g while the LM machine could be using 17-21g. Max coffee dose on most Jura machines is ~14g. Understand the LM is a commercial machine likely being operated by a trained barista with high quality freshly ground beans. Also, the least expensive LM machine runs about $7,500 and they're probably feeding it with a grinder that cost more than $1,500. A Nespresso machine runs a few hundred, Jura super-autos from ~$800 and up. All that said with the right coffee and grind setting Jura machines produce a very nice espresso. It does not have equal potential to a commercial machine but it is far more convenient, less costly and requires little skill to operate. Marc

Whole Latte Love Good reply. However, I’ve had a Jura ENA Micro 1 for 6 years and could count on one hand the number of times I’ve had a coffee as nice as it makes in a coffee shop or restaurant using a top-end machine. I used to own a fully manual La Pavoni espresso machine an burr grinder and I’ve owned two Nespresso machines for use in the office. The manual machine took a lot of trial and error and ultimately expertise to regularly produce great coffee so relied on me always making it for family and guests. The Nespresso is decent coffee but simple to use. The Jura is simple to use and consistently makes great coffee. Just find great beans, set up the grind fineness to suit them, use filtered water, preheat your cups and press a button!

For us regular folks its much easyer ti rinse off and clean the saeco brewgroup comared with jura. So now we have mold (mögel på svenska?) and old coffe inside the jura and i cant remove it. We have280km to our nearest service center (Stockholm sweden).

The saeco brewgroup comes out very easy, no tools needed

Hi Tomas, Thanks for the reply. You are correct, Brew groups in most Jura machines are not removable. Instead Jura users use a cleaning tablet placed in the ground coffee bypass doser to clean.

The tablet dosent clean the outside of the brewgroup from spilled coffe wich thereby remans inside the machine and starts to grow mold. Sorry for the grammar and spelling...Old swedish guy..
